Chapter 665 Jasmine Is No Longer Alone
"You'd better not go over there. You're pregnant now, and these people are quite agitated. They might hurt you." Tom frowned, blocking Jasmine from going any further.
Had to admit, Tom looked quite handsome when he was serious.
After all, his responsibility was to protect Jasmine.
Jasmine stopped in her tracks. "Go get me a wheelchair."
Tom was taken aback. "A wheelchair?"
Ben sighed. "I'll go."
"A wheelchair won't protect you," Tom said, not understanding why Jasmine needed one.
Liam sighed.
"Jasmine, how do you explain such a major safety incident at the Douglas Group?"
"Did Ethan go to your place? Is it true, as the rumors say, that something happened to him?"
"Jasmine, how do you plan to resolve this major safety incident that suddenly occurred?"
The reporters rushed forward, their aggressive intent obvious.
Liam pushed Jasmine to the front.
"Recently, the changes in the Douglas family have been too overwhelming for me to accept. As a senior executive of the company, I admit there have been some management oversights. However, after my investigation, I found that this incident is not an ordinary safety accident."
Jasmine sat weakly in the wheelchair, looking at the people causing trouble.
"I understand everyone's feelings, the pain of losing loved ones," Jasmine empathized.
Although it was a strategy, she genuinely sympathized with the victims' families.
"The safety of Douglas Group's projects is the family's top priority of construction. I apologize to everyone for this incident." Jasmine struggled to stand up and bowed to everyone.
"But to let the deceased rest in peace and to give the injured a fair outcome. We must expose the truth to the public," Jasmine said, looking at the genuinely grieving families. "We suspect that this incident was a deliberate act of murder."
Jasmine's figure wavered.
Ben quickly helped her sit down.
"We have already reported this to the police. On behalf of everyone at the Douglas Group, I promise to do everything possible to assist the police in solving the case quickly and to give everyone a fair outcome," Ben said, speaking on Jasmine's behalf.
"Deliberate murder? That's just the Douglas Group's way of shirking responsibility! We don't believe it was deliberate murder. It was a safety accident, and you must give the victims an explanation!"
Someone started shouting.
Security kept the people outside.
"The police have taken over this matter. Everything will be decided after their investigation. From now on, we will only receive the families of the accident victims. As for others causing trouble at the Douglas Group's entrance, we will call the police and sue for disturbing the peace," Ben said coldly, looking at the troublemakers.
The real victims' families would never ignore the truth of the matter.
They might want more compensation, but the truth must be made public. They need to know the real reason for their loved ones' deaths.
This safety incident clearly had signs of human manipulation.
Jasmine's suspicion of deliberate murder was reasonable.
Security verified the victims' families' information, welcomed them into the company, and took them to the lounge. As for the others, they were kept outside. Those who continued to cause trouble were reported to the police.
Soon, the people outside dispersed.
"Calvin, as the Director of PR, you failed to contain the situation immediately, leading to the current mess. You can't shirk your responsibility!" Jasmine looked at Calvin Bailey, putting pressure on everyone.
Calvin's face changed, and he quickly lowered his head. "Mr. Cunningham, we will handle this matter as soon as possible, regarding the families."
"No need," Jasmine said coldly. "Liam, they are fired. Should the PR Department be dissolved at this time?"
Jasmine no longer trusted the Douglas Group's Public Relations Department.
If any negative news spread, it would be devastating for the Douglas Group.
Liam and Ben were both shocked, nervously looking at Jasmine. Dissolve the Public Relations Department at this time?
"You can't do this. We've also contributed to the company," Calvin said angrily, almost ready to cause a scene.
"Contribution? The situation has escalated to this point, and I, as the CEO, was the last to find out. The Public Relations Department failed to minimize the risk for the group. You call that a contribution?"
Jasmine looked at Calvin coldly. "Today, considering your long service to the company, you can resign voluntarily. If anyone dares to tarnish the company's image outside, I will blacklist you from the entire industry. I won't show any mercy! You can try if you don't believe me!"
The Public Relations Department staff turned pale, not daring to say anything more.
"If you dissolve the Public Relations Department, who will handle these matters? These families are difficult to deal with. You can't handle everything personally," Ben asked quietly.
"Secondment." Jasmine took a deep breath. "I will borrow a team from the Cunningham Group."
Ben sighed in relief. "Right!"
"If they want to harm me, they need to see if they have the capability," Jasmine said coldly.
The Douglas Group wasn't just Jasmine's company. If something happened, and someone wanted her to take the fall alone? They were dreaming.
"Some people are causing trouble at the entrances of LY and the Raymond Group, saying that LY and the Raymond Group have the same owner and are deliberately escalating the situation," Liam said, walking over after taking a call.
Jasmine remained calm, but her fingers were clenched white.
Did these people launch their attack knowing Ethan wasn't by her side?
"Release the case filing receipt. If anyone continues to cause trouble, call the police immediately," Jasmine said, leaning back in the wheelchair. "Find one of the ringleaders, gather evidence, and have the police arrest them in front of everyone."
Jasmine could only stabilize the situation temporarily, preventing it from worsening.
As for whether the real truth of the incident could be uncovered later, Jasmine wasn't very confident.
At the Cunningham family, Cordelia sat on the couch, anxiously drinking coffee.
Nolan remained calm, and Edward was still steady. Only Edgar was about to jump up, pacing back and forth, making everyone dizzy.
"Aren't we going to help? How long are we going to wait? Jasmine is suffering such grievances, and the Douglas Group is in danger. When are we going to step in?" Edgar gritted his teeth.
"Connor is Jasmine's psychologist. I think he can be trusted." Edward rubbed his temples. "Stop pacing, you're making me dizzy."
"Let's hear him out first and wait for Jasmine to speak up herself." Cordelia thought, feeling sorry for her daughter.
But Jasmine was too soft-hearted. Cordelia had to grit her teeth and let Jasmine toughen up and grow.
Only when Jasmine became flawless and unbreakable herself would she be able to face any storm without fear.
"Let's wait a bit longer. She will definitely come to us for help. The Cunningham family will always be her strongest support. With us here, no one can push Jasmine into the abyss again," Nolan said firmly.
"This matter is indeed being manipulated behind the scenes. The elevator, known for its high safety factor, has a compliance report from the manufacturer. Someone pressed the basement button!" Arnold and Richard walked in quickly from outside.
"I've already sent someone to investigate," Richard said reassuringly.
Cordelia nodded in relief.
Even if Jasmine didn't ask for help, she was no longer alone.
