Chapter 842 Richard is Going Home to Inherit the Family Business
Muskow, Richard's residence.
Arnold gave Richard a villa. It was well-decorated and the scenery was stunning.
Betty was making bread right in the kitchen Ever since she stopped going to the company, she had a lot of free time. After all, Indigo was handed over to the Douglas family, and she only needed to take care of herself.
Outside the door, Silas and the others looked despondent. When they saw Richard return, they spoke with a hint of resentment. "Richard, you're finally back. We can't stand eating this awful bread anymore."
Richard glanced at the blackened bread in Silas's hand and laughed helplessly. "What's my wife up to now?"
"Undoubtedly, Richard is going to be the victim of today," Silas sighed, gnawing on the bread with effort. "Richard, I suspect Betty's bread is meant to kill someone."
Richard looked at the bread and made a shushing gesture. They better not let Betty hear that, or the bread might really be used to hit them.
Carefully entering the living room, Richard glanced at Betty, who was busy in the kitchen.
She was wearing a spaghetti strap dress, her figure perfect. Having a baby seemed like just a minor event for her. Except for her belly became big, her limbs were always slender, so she quickly regained her figure after giving birth.
And Betty was disciplined and had high standards for her body. She started a regular fitness routine before giving birth, so she was almost immediately up and running after a natural delivery.
While others were wheeled out by doctors after giving birth, Betty walked out of the delivery room herself, got into the elevator, and went to bed on her own, nearly scaring Richard to death.
Richard thought giving birth seemed like a brush with death, but with his wife, he felt like Betty had beaten up the Grim Reaper and returned triumphantly. It left Richard deeply shocked and impressed, even a little bit in awe.
Betty's phone rang.
Without looking, Betty knew it was the Willer family calling. Without her connections and management, the Willer Group must be in chaos now.
The phone rang a few times, and then someone else called. This time it was Avery.
Betty raised an eyebrow and put it on speaker. "Did my parents find you?"
"Take a guess..." Avery gritted her teeth, her voice hinting that Betty's parents were in her office.
Avery had deliberately worked late, and Betty's parents had been waiting all along. She was at her wit's end.
Betty understood and spoke calmly. "I'm not in Silverlight City right now, I'm relaxed."
"You're really not going to manage the company?" Avery asked.
"Sure, my parents don't acknowledge my husband, and I need to live with my husband."
Priya's angry scolding came from the other end of the line. "How can you abandon your parents just because you're married? Come back quickly! Has that Richard beguiled you and fed you lies? What can a penniless man offer you? Running that little company doesn't make him worthy of you. Now that Steven is back, you should come back and live a good life with him in Muskow!"
Betty's parents were adamant about Betty divorcing Richard."I'm telling you, Betty, if you don't come back, I'm gonna take my own life!" Priya grabbed the phone and shouted at Betty.
Betty sneered, not indulging them. She knew her parents too well; they cherished their lives too much to actually die.
They'd want to die clutching money!
"Richard, a poor boy, will never amount to anything in this lifetime. He has no talent, no ability, no education, and he is useless at everything. What do you expect him to do? We, the Willer family, have invested so much in you, sent you to school, let you study abroad, and provided you with so many resources so that you could waste time on a good-for-nothing like him?" Priya's words grew harsher.
Betty gripped the phone tightly. "Please respect my husband."
With that, she hung up the phone.
Betty was really angered by her parents. She loved Richard dearly and hoped her parents would respect him too. But because Richard had no family background, they bullied him like this.
Breathing heavily, Betty threw the bread mold in her hand, losing her mood.
As she turned around, she saw Richard.
He looked a bit awkward, standing in the living room.
In fact, it was not the first time Betty's parents had said harsh things. They had insulted him in various ways before. No matter what he did, he seemed unable to earn their approval.
Richard had tried, but it didn't make much difference.
Smiling helplessly, he acted indifferent.
He could ignore Betty's parents, but he cared about Betty.
"You heard everything?" Betty asked softly.
She cared deeply for Richard and his self-esteem. "Don't mind that. They only love money. Besides, it's not like we really don't have a family background; we just don't need to let them know."
Betty softly comforted Richard.
Richard lowered his eyes and spoke quietly. "I really don't have an education or abilities. I dropped out of high school, so I only have a middle school education. I'm just a mechanic. I can fix cars, be a bodyguard, but I can't learn management or run a company."
Richard was actually very insecure. He hadn't greceived a good higher education, which he lacked. Moreover, his straightforward personality wasn't suited for business. He wasn't good at it.
If Arnold insisted on him taking over the Sanders Group, he couldn't do it.
"Have you ever heard this saying?" Betty looked at Richard and walked over to hug him. "A couple shouldn't be in the same profession. One can be an accountant, the other a baker, or one a hairdresser, the other a company employee. But they shouldn't both be in management; that would be so boring. Look at Ethan and Jasmine. If Jasmine weren't gentle and understanding, how boring would their life be?"
Betty playfully said to Richard, "I'm looking for a husband, a family, a life, not a business partner or competitor. I can manage the company. You trust me, and when the company grows, I'll help you manage it. What's there to be sad about? With such a good wife, you should be secretly happy."
Richard was amused by Betty. He was really grateful and content to have met Betty and married her.
Richard knew that Betty had given him all her tenderness.
"In a few days, Arnold... my Dad said we should attend a banquet. He's organizing a business dinner in Muskow, and people from the Silverlight City will be there too," Richard said softly.
Although he didn't have the talent for managing a company, for Betty, he was willing to acknowledge Arnold as his father.
He couldn't let Betty be looked down upon or let her suffer at home.
