Chapter 616 Jasmine is Pregnant!

"Don't move," Jasmine yelled at Ethan, her voice sharp with worry.

Ethan, too freaked out to care, clung to Jasmine and asked, "Doc, what's going on with my wife?"

"She might be super stressed and scared. Let's get to the hospital for a check-up," the doctor said, quickly guiding them into the ambulance.

Inside, the doctor turned to Ethan, "Sir, the worst thing you can do after a car accident is move around. You might feel fine, but what if you're not? You need to cooperate with us."

Ethan nodded, glancing at Jasmine. "Is my wife okay?"

Jasmine hugged him tightly. "I'm fine. The doctor is talking to you. Pay attention."

Ethan held her closer, his voice rough. "It's okay now."

After tonight, Howard wouldn't have the chance to be smug anymore.

Ethan's phone buzzed; it was Raymond.

"I'm with Brandon. We've called the cops and are bringing them to catch Howard, but..." Raymond trailed off.

"Shoot," Ethan said, frowning. Was there a problem?

Did Howard get away?

Howard shouldn't have known Ethan had evidence. Who spilled the beans?

Ethan's biggest fear was Howard running off to dodge punishment, leaving a lingering threat.

So, Ethan had repeatedly warned Brandon and Raymond to be careful and not let Howard catch wind of their plans.

Bradley was still in the hospital. Ethan had planned to distract Howard and have the cops nab him after the charity event. But something went wrong.

Raymond replied, "Howard escaped."

Just as Ethan feared, Howard had bolted.

Raymond added, "Brandon and I managed to capture Mark and secure the evidence without any leaks. Howard was at the charity event, so he didn't know then. His car stopped on the overpass, and the cops found out he got off and ran away alone. They're still chasing him."

This meant someone had tipped Howard off as soon as he hit the overpass.

"If the leak didn't come from our side, it means someone else has been pulling the strings from behind the scenes," Ethan said quietly, glancing at Jasmine, not wanting to scare her.

Jasmine was already terrified, looking at Ethan nervously and gripping his hand tightly.

Howard had escaped, and there was someone behind him.

"Howard and ClaireSophia are easy to deal with since they're out in the open. The real danger is those hidden threats, which can be more dangerous than the obvious ones," Raymond said, sounding troubled. "I'll keep an eye on Mark. If he has a boss behind him, they'll definitely contact him first. I'll watch him closely."

"We need to move fast." Ethan worried that the longer they took, the messier things would get.

"Got it."

At Capital Hospital, Ethan had a full-body check-up. Thanks to his regular workouts, he only had a broken right arm and a mild concussion.

"I'm fine," Ethan said, lying on the hospital bed and holding Jasmine's hand. "The doc said I'm tough, with strong bones."

Jasmine, her eyes red, pinched him. "You scared the crap out of me."

"It's okay, it's okay," Ethan murmured, trying to soothe her.

Jasmine lay on Ethan's chest, listening to his heartbeat to calm herself down.

He was alive, really alive.

"Ethan, you have to stay with me," Jasmine whispered. "I can't do this alone."

She choked up, fighting back tears. She didn't dare tell Ethan how terrified she was when the car hit him.

If Ethan had really died, she would have followed him without a second thought.

Ethan took a deep breath, his eyes drifting.

Connor was right; Jasmine couldn't handle losing him.

If only they had a child.

"Jasmine, it's all over. Nothing bad will happen. Howard will be caught. He's a major fugitive now; he can't hide forever," Ethan reassured her.

Jasmine nodded. "Okay."

After a long pause, Ethan cautiously asked, "Jasmine, do you like girls? What's it like to have a daughter? Joe and Justin always say they want a sister."

Ethan spoke carefully, not wanting to upset her.

After all, childbirth was no walk in the park.

"Do you want a daughter?" But Jasmine loved Ethan so much that she'd agree to anything he wanted.

"In that moment of the car crash, I thought if I had a daughter, how happy I would be," Ethan began to ramble.

Jasmine smiled weakly. "That's gender bias. Not cool."

"I swear, it's not. I love them equally, boy or girl," Ethan vowed.

He wanted Jasmine to have another reason to hold on.

When Jasmine was in prison, Connor had used Justin to "motivate" her to survive and get out.

Ethan knew it was a dirty trick, but he had no other choice.

He couldn't hurt Jasmine or be apart from her. But if something happened to him, he needed to give Jasmine a reason to live.

Howard's escape meant he had cut off all his escape routes. He would stop at nothing to get to Ethan.

Ethan was preparing for everything in advance.

"Jasmine, the test results are out," Richard said, walking in with Edward, a bandage on his forehead.

Edgar stood guard outside, and Nolan had gone to pay the bills.

"What's wrong?" Ethan asked, worried about Richard's condition.

"Nothing serious, just..." Richard hesitated.

This made Ethan anxious. "Let me see."

Ethan looked at the results and was stunned. "This HCG..."

"She's pregnant," Edward said, sounding exasperated.

Ethan was stunned, turning to look at Jasmine.

Jasmine was also shocked, taking the test results. "I'm really pregnant!"

Edward glared at Ethan, gritting his teeth. "Should I congratulate you, Ethan, for making my sister suffer again?"

Ethan felt guilty, lowering his head and then sneaking a glance at Jasmine.

He wanted to see her reaction.

Jasmine seemed very happy, excitedly looking at Ethan. "Ethan, I'm pregnant!"

Ethan nodded, holding Jasmine's hand. "Jasmine, do you want to keep the baby? I'll respect your choice."

"We're married. Of course, I want to keep this baby," Jasmine said, her eyes filling with tears. "When I was pregnant with Justin and Joe, you weren't with me. It was really hard. I was so scared."

Jasmine didn't know how to express to Ethan how helpless she felt back then.
