Chapter 620 Ethan, Please Don't Let Anything Happen to You
Amelia sat on Nolan's couch, nervously fidgeting with her skirt.
Nolan, looking pretty pissed, sat across from her. "Amelia, you'll do anything to get what you want now, huh?"
How long had it been since he last touched Amelia? Even back then, they were careful. No way this kid was his.
And judging by Nathaniel's attitude, the kid was probably his. Amelia was just trying to stop him from getting rid of it.
"Don't think saying this will save the kid. If it's mine, I'm even less likely to let you keep it," Nolan warned, not buying her story.
Amelia started crying, clenching her fists. "You're such a jerk! Why can't I keep the baby if it's yours?"
"Because you're unworthy!" Nolan snapped, losing his cool.
Amelia stiffened, clearly hurt by the word "unworthy."
But she was always stubborn. Even though she was scared of Nolan, she couldn't hold back. "Then who do you think is worthy of having your kid? Fiona? Do you really think I'm stupid and don't know anything? I've heard she's your half-sister! The president of Cunningham Group has such dirty thoughts about his own sister. If this gets out..."
Before she could finish, Nolan kicked the table, sending cups crashing to the floor.
Amelia, scared and crying, glared at Nolan. "You're the unworthy one. I hate you. Give me the money, and I'll do it on my own!"
Nolan rubbed his temples, frustrated. How could he deal with such a stubborn girl?
"Tomorrow morning, I'll have Elijah take you there. Don't worry about the expenses," Nolan said, then stormed off to the bedroom, slamming the door.
Amelia wiped her tears, cursing Nolan under her breath. She'd never forgive him.
Curled up on the couch, she refused to go back to the bedroom.
In the end, Nolan couldn't help but check on her and carried her back to the bedroom.
"Nolan, you bastard," she muttered in her sleep.
Nolan looked at her helplessly, unsure what to do.
She was unmarried, pregnant, and not very bright, easily fooled, and still pretending Nathaniel.
Nathaniel was definitely trouble. This kid couldn't stay; it would be a problem later.
He couldn't take care of her forever.
Sitting by the window, Nolan stared outside, feeling irritated. Even Amelia misunderstood his feelings for Fiona, let alone others.
Today, Cordelia called Nolan, pushing him to get married, probably because of some rumors.
To avoid suspicion, Nolan had to get married soon.
"Ryder, tell my mom that tomorrow morning's blind date needs to be postponed. Let's do it in the afternoon; I have some things to handle in the morning," Nolan said, glancing at Amelia. After all, it was an abortion, and Amelia was still young. It would be better if he stayed with her.
Ryder replied, "Yes, sir. As long as you go, she'll be happy. The girl you're meeting tomorrow is very impressive. Madam likes her a lot. She's the only daughter of Marvin Butler from Apex Technologies Group, and she studied abroad in Accraville."
Nolan absentmindedly replied, "Got it."
After hanging up, Nolan looked at the sleeping Amelia, who was still cursing him.
He couldn't help but say, "Little fool."
The next morning at Ethan's place, he got up early. Even with his right arm out of commission, he managed to pour milk, toast bread, and spread jam with his left hand.
Jasmine stretched and walked out, surprised to see breakfast ready. "Did you make this?"
Ethan smiled. "Jasmine, I've got a lot on my plate with the Raymond Group and the Douglas family. There's a project I need to discuss, so I have to go on a business trip this afternoon. The earliest I can be back is tomorrow night, but if things get delayed..."
Ethan's fingers clenched a bit, hoping Jasmine wouldn't notice. "If the project doesn't go well, it might take up to half a month."
Jasmine looked worried. "But you're injured."
"It doesn't matter. The Douglas Group is in a tough spot right now. We need to secure this project," Ethan said, ruffling Jasmine's hair.
Jasmine nodded. "Come back soon."
Ethan lowered his head. "I will."
"By the way, did they catch Howard?" Jasmine asked, clearly concerned.
"Howard can't escape. San Francisco is on lockdown. He can't even leave the city. I have to go to Maple Grove for the project. I'm the safest one. I'm more worried about you and the kids," Ethan said, trying to shift Jasmine's focus.
Jasmine sighed in relief. "That's true, but still, be careful. Don't let your guard down."
Ethan nodded and sent Jasmine a document on his phone. "Last night, I saw you working late and falling asleep, so I finished the PPT for the new energy project. Check it out and see if it needs any changes."
Jasmine looked at Ethan in surprise. "Ethan, how are you so amazing?"
Ethan smiled. "I can't help it. I'm just that good."
Jasmine hugged Ethan, delighted. "Thank you, Ethan."
Ethan sighed, looking down at her. "No matter what happens, I'll always be by your side, always."
Even death couldn't separate them.
Jasmine nodded, still feeling uneasy.
Ethan left after breakfast, and Brandon picked him up downstairs.
Brandon put on a good act to avoid worrying Jasmine.
"Jasmine, we have to go on a business trip. Can you manage on your end?" Samuel called Jasmine, saying he needed to go on the trip too.
"The Harmony Group project? Didn't you say it wasn't difficult and you could handle it alone?" Jasmine asked, watching Ethan's car leave.
"I thought it wasn't difficult, but it turns out the other party has a backup plan. I'm a bit at a loss. Let's go together; it's good to have support," Samuel quickly explained.
Jasmine felt something was off about Samuel but couldn't put her finger on it.
In the car, Ethan glanced at Raymond. "Is everything set?"
"Yeah, I've already had Samuel get Jasmine out of San Francisco," Elbert nodded, looking worried. "You need to think this through. Howard wouldn't call you out unless he was sure he could take you down with him."
Ethan nodded. "Don't worry, the police are involved."
Elbert sighed. "Ethan, it's not necessary. Just let the police handle it."
"He's a smart guy. He must have prepared thoroughly. If I don't go, he won't show up," Ethan said, knowing Howard too well.
Elbert nodded. That was undoubtedly true.
"You better not get hurt. If something happens to you, Jasmine will lose it," Raymond added.
