Chapter 238 Harper, a skillful and talented actress
"Serena!" Daniel anxiously lifted Serena, glaring at Jasmine with anger. "If anything happens to her, I won't let you off the hook."
Jasmine looked shocked, looking around. "I was not even close, and he's still blaming me. Both of you...bear witness, I didn't touch her."
Ethan was equally stunned by Daniel's audacity. "If Serena choked on water, somehow you'd still find a way to blame Jasmine?"
Edgar, who had also witnessed the incident, gave Jasmine a thumbs up. "You really have foresight. I can vouch for you."
"If it wasn't for Jasmine, she wouldn't be this upset," Daniel said angrily.
Jasmine sighed. Although she was used to Daniel's irrational behavior, she still couldn't help but feel speechless. "This is the kindergarten's parents' day. Did I ask you to come and see me? Whoever called Serena over, you accuse them. It's her..."
After saying that, Jasmine pointed at Amy.
Amy had already started crying, anxiously covering her face as she stood in place. "I'm not..."
"You idiot!" Amy's husband scolded angrily.
Amy shook her head and cried.
"Jasmine, Serena's health is getting worse. You promised to donate your kidney, so we've been dragging this on. If anything happens to her, you'll be responsible," Daniel reminded Jasmine of this matter.
"If you really care about her health, you should find a suitable kidney source for her as soon as possible instead of threatening me here. And she just fainted, why aren't you taking her to the hospital? You're just procrastinating here," Jasmine was furious with Daniel.
How did she ever fall in love with Daniel?
Indeed, spending time with idiots made her dumb.
Daniel hesitated for a moment before carrying Serena and rushing out.
"So stupid," Edgar sighed. "The Douglas family's genes aren't good."
Ethan glanced at Edgar. "Oh, and your family's are? The Cunninghams are either emotionally blind or literally blind, and then there's you, the peacock who can't keep it in his pants."
Edgar looked surprised. "Oh, I forgot that you're also from the Douglas family, and your genes are much better than the one earlier. Right, Jasmine?"
Jasmine held the children and stayed far away, not wanting to hear her name being called.
"Mr. Cunningham, Mr. Douglas, I'm sorry," Amy approached with red eyes and apologized. "I misunderstood, I'm sorry."
Edgar simply ignored Amy.
Ethan also didn't pay attention to her.
Amy ran panicking to Jasmine. "Jasmine, please help me for the sake of us being high school classmates. Tell them that I really didn't mean it."
Jasmine shook her head. "I won't help you. Nobody should help you. You're the one who made the mistake, and you're the arrogant one. I can't help you."
Amy cried desperately. "Jasmine, don't abandon me."
"It's that you're beyond help," Jasmine muttered softly, taking Justin and Joe to meet with the teacher.
Amy looked at her husband fearfully.
"You stupid fool, go back with the child!" Amy's husband said angrily, forcing them to leave.
Airport.
"Mom, why did you bring so much luggage back? Are you planning to stay permanently?" Edward Cunningham looked at Cordelia Richardson, who had brought three large suitcases with her.
"I couldn't find my daughter, so I decided not to go back for now." Cordelia smiled and replied.
She had a feeling that her daughter would be found soon.
"Mom, you've been looking good lately," Edward raised an eyebrow.
"I had calculated my fortune; I was going to find my daughter that year." Cordelia had been obsessed with fortune-telling lately.
Even if it was just a psychological comfort, she believed in it.
"Mom, that fortune teller was spot on," Edward agreed.
Cordelia smiled. "You're the sweet-talker among the three brothers."
Edward chuckled. "That's right, one of them lacks emotional intelligence and the other lacks intelligence."
"Yes, yes, your emotional intelligence is high and your intelligence is good. You're the only one in our family who is still single. Your brother at least had a scandalous girlfriend, and your younger brother's ex-girlfriend can travel all the way to France. Why is there no activity in your love life?" Cordelia didn't want to embarrass her son.
Edward coughed awkwardly and looked away. "Someone as exceptional as me, my fated one will take longer to come."
"Take care of Mother, I need to take this call." It was Nolan Cunningham calling on Edward's phone.
Edward asked his assistant to take care of Cordelia and went to the side to answer the call.
Suddenly, someone rushed over from a distance and tried to snatch Cordelia's bag.
"Stop the thief!"
"Give the bag back!"
A stranger appeared out of nowhere, grabbed the bag, and was struggling with the thief.
The assistant hurried over to intervene, getting in between the bag and the kind-hearted person.
Unfortunately, the thief managed to escape.
"Is public safety in this country so bad now?" Edward hung up the phone and ran over to his mother. "Are you alright?"
"I'm fine, go and check on that girl." Cordelia pointed towards the girl who had helped them and asked Edward to go see her.
Edward hurried over. "Miss, thank you so much. Are you okay?"
The other person smiled weakly and shook her head. "I'm fine, just a little injury."
Edward glanced and noticed the blood on her hand. "Thank you so much. It seems like you're hurt. Let me take you to the hospital."
"It's fine, the injury is not from the robbery..." She hid her hand behind her back and lowered her head, wanting to leave.
"What's your name?" Edward asked.
"I... I am Harper," Harper turned around and smiled at Edward, with red eyes, looking upset.
Edward furrowed his brows and held onto Harper. "Your injury..."
Glancing at her wrist, Edward gasped.
Cordelia also ran over and looked at the wound, clearly a self-inflicted cut.
Although it wasn't deep, it was evident that she did it to herself.
"Miss, you're so young, why would you hurt yourself like this?" Cordelia asked with sadness.
"It's nothing..." Harper choked back her tears and hid the wound.
"Since you helped my mother if you have any difficulties, you can tell us. Maybe I can help you," Edward said politely.
"No, thank you. You can't help me," Harper lowered her head and gripped her wrist. "My parents favor my sister, and even the person they chose for my engagement abandoned me. I just feel like I'm worthless in this world."
"That's not true, Miss. Parents love their children, maybe it's just some small negligence. They are your biological parents, how could they favor one over the other," Cordelia tried to comfort Harper.
"I'm not their biological child... They only found out a few years ago," Harper replied.
Both Edward and Cordelia were stunned and looked at each other.
"You... are not their biological child?" Cordelia took a deep breath. "How old are you, Miss?"
"27," Harper shook her head. "I'm sorry, I must go now."
After saying that, Harper ran away.
Cordelia glanced at Edward. "Investigate it."
