Chapter 896 Edgar Feels Extremely Wronged

Edgar looked at Avery, instinctively wanting to explain, but Avery didn't look at him. Instead, she had a gloomy face and was staring at Rhett. "Is this Lyanna's house?"

Lyanna was stunned for a moment and quickly hugged Edgar's arm. She couldn't expose herself now; Rhett would kill her.

"Rhett, what are you doing here?" Edgar frowned and spoke, not pulling away from Lyanna's arm.

Avery was as indifferent as ever, and it was clear that she wasn't in a good mood, with her right leg injured.

"Lyanna said she was temporarily staying here. I thought, since Avery is pregnant and needs someone to take care of her, I'd let her stay for a night. Tomorrow, when my house is tidied up, she can go back home." Rhett spoke with a smile, clearly intentional.

He wanted to completely sever any possibility of Avery and Edgar being together, making sure Avery was under his control.

He wanted to take the opportunity to control Avery and the entire fallen Hawthorne Group.

As for Edgar, Avery had already given up on him. He should give up and obediently marry Lyanna.

"I can stay at a hotel," Avery said in a deep voice.

"But I am not reassured." Rhett had already started trying to control Avery. In his view, women were objects that could be commodified and ultimately had to under his control.

Avery sneered inwardly. Did Rhett think she couldn't see through his little schemes?

He clearly hadn't been disciplined since childhood.

Unfortunately, he's made a big mistake by angering Avery.

Avery took a deep breath and spoke calmly. "Alright, then I'll trouble you."

Edgar frowned, his face looking very unpleasant.

"I have some matters to attend to tonight. Lyanna, take good care of Avery. I'll come to pick her up tomorrow."

Rhett reminded Lyanna to behave well.

At least in front of Avery, she and Edgar should put on a good show, making Avery completely give up.

Moreover, Avery had been in prison. Rhett thought controlling her was like controlling an ant.

"Avery, I'll come to pick you up tomorrow. You see, I'm the only one who treats you well. None of the Hawthorne family members care about you. Your friends should see that by now. As for others..." Rhett looked at Edgar. "They are unreliable."

He had mastered the art of emotional manipulation.

"You need to be good and obedient. I'll come over tomorrow," Rhett said with a smile.

Avery raised an eyebrow, suppressing her disgust, and nodded obediently. "Then I'll wait for you."

Edgar looked at Avery in shock. He couldn't believe that a month in prison could change her like this.

For some reason, Edgar felt a chill looking at the obedient Avery in front of him.

"Lyanna, Edgar, forgive the intrusion." Avery entered the house, kicked the door shut, locking Rhett outside, and spoke coldly.

Rhett didn't react immediately, still immersed in the joy of controlling Avery, and left without much thought.

Edgar took a deep breath, feeling intimidated by Avery.

Although he was full of resentment, he still felt sorry for Avery's injury.

Silently, he walked to the shoe cabinet and got Avery a pair of slippers.

Avery changed into the slippers, walked to the sofa, and sat down, calmly looking at Lyanna and Edgar.

Lyanna was also a bit scared. Avery's aura was too strong, especially after coming out of prison this time.

"Oh... Avery, if there's nothing else, you should go rest first," Lyanna didn't know what to say.

"The guest room over there, I'll tidy it up. You can sleep there," Edgar spoke coldly, trying to appear aloof.

Avery didn't speak or move.

Edgar felt a pang of bitterness in his heart. Avery always looked down on him.

"What should we do?" Lyanna followed Edgar, asking nervously.

Edgar frowned. "How should I know?"

"If I sleep in the small room, won't it be exposed?" Lyanna asked nervously.

Edgar thought for a moment. "You sleep in the master bedroom."

Lyanna nervously covered her chest. "But I don't want to sleep with you."

"Do you think I want to sleep with you?" Edgar found Lyanna ridiculous. He had no good feelings towards her, especially after she had schemed against him.

Lyanna lowered her head and muttered softly. "Jasmine is such a good person. Are you really siblings? It doesn't seem like you match."

"How dare you say that!" Edgar gritted his teeth.

Lyanna didn't dare to speak again, lowering her head and following behind Edgar.

As long as she acted with Edgar, she wouldn't have to return to the Murray family.

That was her nightmare.

"It's ready. You can come sleep," Edgar stood at the door and called out.

"Avery, I'll go to the room first," Lyanna said nervously, instinctively heading towards the small room. Remembering Edgar's words, she nervously turned and walked towards the master bedroom.

Avery watched Lyanna without saying anything and entered the guest room.

Sitting on the bed, Avery looked at Edgar, who hadn't left. "Aren't you leaving? Do you have something to say?"

Edgar frowned, his face looking very unpleasant, his fingers trembling with anger. "Whose child is it?"

"Mine," Avery lowered her head, looking at her belly.

"I mean, who is the father?" Edgar trembled with anger.

"The child has no father," Avery leaned against the headboard. "I conceived it, I will give birth to it, so it's mine."

Edgar took a deep breath, feeling infuriated. "Fine, Rhett is not a good person. He's a perverted scumbag. He married you for the Hawthorne Group. He doesn't even spare his sister."

Edgar lowered his voice, instinctively looking back to make sure Lyanna wasn't there, and spoke softly. "Their sibling relationship is not normal."

Avery watched Edgar with amusement. "Aren't you the same as Rhett? I see you didn't spare Lyanna either."

Edgar suppressed his anger. "Avery! I am..."

"If there's nothing else, you can leave now," Avery interrupted Edgar, telling him to get out.

Edgar looked at Avery angrily. "What do you see in Rhett? Does he deserve it?"

"I see that his reputation is bad," Avery spoke calmly. "The Hawthorne Group is a troublesome now. Only someone ambitious and scummy like Rhett would dare to make a move. Why wouldn't I take advantage of it?"

"I... I clearly said I could help you," Edgar spoke angrily. Was she planning to stay with Rhett, that perverted with his child? "Rhett is abusive."

"Yes," Avery had already investigated before marrying Rhett. But who would be abuses in this marriage was still uncertain.

"You help me? The Cunningham Group is struggling to protect itself now. If you get involved with me, you won't be able to clear your name," Avery spoke in a deep voice.

She how to express her feelings, but she was afraid of implicating Edgar.

She also knew that Edgar and Lyanna couldn't really have anything. Betty had already explained on Jasmine's behalf.

"Can't you stop being so stubborn? Can't you just say you don't want to implicate me?" Edgar turned his head, his eyes red.

He wanted to go over and hug her, but now he felt very wronged. As long as he was with Avery, he felt like he was the one who needed comfort.

Avery was too strong-willed. He had never seen a woman like her!

He felt extremely wronged.
