Chapter 547 Deborah is Shameless

"Avery, everyone's on my side now. You're all alone in the Hawthorne Group."

Once everyone left, Deborah dropped the act and smirked. "You kicked me out and drove my mom to suicide. You'll pay for that."

"Miss Morris has great skin. What concealer does she use?" Kayla asked, surprised.

Avery chuckled. "She is thick-skinned; probably layered it on."

Kayla laughed. "Yeah, thick skin. She caused her mom's death—her mom tried to force a marriage, got cancer, and jumped to give her daughter a better future."

Avery nodded. "Exactly, she caused it and still blames others. Thick skin indeed."

Avery and Kayla were teaming up to rile Deborah.

Deborah gritted her teeth. "Avery, you won't be smug for long. Everyone in the Hawthorne Group supports me, even Dad. I saved Ethan's life; he owes me. Uncle Connor's on my side too. Who's got your back?"

Deborah laughed. "Even your brother hates you and supports me."

Avery leaned back, smiling lazily. "I can be an only child."

"Sis, stop fighting. You're destined to lose," Deborah said, standing up to provoke Avery. "Just agree to Dad's plan, get married, and be a housewife. Stop embarrassing yourself at the company."

Avery wasn't in a rush; she could wait. Owen would pressure her eventually.

"If you're sick, go to the hospital. If you're unhappy, go die. Don't bother me," Avery said, pushing her gold-rimmed glasses with her middle finger.

Avery was too domineering, dressed in a unisex suit, with naturally voluminous golden hair and a defiant face.

Avery was exceptionally good-looking, with striking bone structure.

"Avery, do you think your privileged upbringing will keep you comfortable forever?" Deborah sneered. "You shouldn't look down on people."

"Sorry, I stopped considering you a person long ago," Avery said coldly, glancing at Kayla.

"Some people are like maggots, always crawling out to disgust others. Can't they just stay in their filth?" Avery said.

Kayla nodded seriously. "You're right. We meet all kinds of crazy people. They might attack us, but we can't strike back. There's a difference between being human and being a lunatic."

Avery nodded in satisfaction and adjusted her cuffs.

Deborah glared at Avery. "Five years ago, I might've feared you. But now, things are different. Do you think I'll always be afraid of you?"

Deborah laughed. "Avery, I told you when you forced me out five years ago, if you didn't kill me then, I'd come back to make you pay."

Avery raised an eyebrow, a mocking smile on her face. "Stir up trouble if you want, but know when to stop."

Avery pushed her chair back and stood up, walking toward Deborah.

Deborah instinctively stepped back, a flicker of fear in her eyes.

Clearly, she still feared Avery deep down.

Deborah resented Avery's natural dominance and pressure, a result of her privileged upbringing.

"Deborah, don't be shameless," Avery said, gripping Deborah's chin and smirking. "You're just a maggot that everyone despises. Don't pretend to be a butterfly."

"Right, caterpillars turn into butterflies, but maggots just become flies," Kayla said, mimicking Avery's gesture of pushing her glasses with her middle finger.

Avery smiled and turned to leave.

Was she trying to scare her? "Sorry, but nothing scares her.

Kayla followed Avery, exuding an aura of borrowed power.

"Avery, I suggest you increase your security. Betty recommended a few men to me—no, male bodyguards. Her husband carefully selected them. Take a look and see if you like any."

Kayla took out a tablet and generously showed Avery photos of the bodyguards.

Avery took the tablet, swiped left and right, and frowned. "Only photos, no resumes?"

Kayla slapped her forehead. "I forgot to download the resumes."

Avery's mouth twitched. "Without resumes, are you asking me to choose bodyguards or men?"

Kayla whispered, "It's almost the same. Of course, we should pick a good-looking one. If you don't like him, I can benefit too."

Avery smirked. "Richard's men are tough and not easy to deal with. Your body can't handle it."

"Who says? I don't believe it," Kayla said, looking eager to try.

"Tell Betty to stay home and protect her baby. I'm busy lately and might not have time to visit her," Avery said, her eyes darkening.

In the past, she didn't take Deborah seriously, but now she had to deal with her seriously.

Deborah was like a wolf in sheep's clothing, a tough opponent ready to bite if given the chance.

"What about your boy toy?" Kayla asked. Everyone in the company feared Avery except for her silly assistant, Kayla.

"An ungrateful thing. He ran away," Avery said indifferently, thinking of Edgar's face and smirking.

But she didn't lose out.

"He ran away? We spent money on him. Next time, break his legs and force him! Just like in those novels where the domineering CEO forces the love interest, and they end up together. if you don't want him, you can give him to me. I don't mind." Kayla earnestly advised her boss.

Avery stopped, turned back, and looked at Kayla with deep eyes. "You're right. Disobedient pets need to be taught a lesson. If he runs again, I'll break his legs and lock him up."

Kayla shivered and shrank her neck. "Avery, don't be serious. I'm scared."

"Too late," Avery said with a cold smile, taking out her phone and making a call. "Jason, has Edgar been racing lately?"

"Yes, he's here now. He seems upset and is racing wildly."

"Keep an eye on him. I'm coming over," Avery said, smirking.

She thought, 'Running away without a word after having fun? Fine, I treated you like a poor boy, and you used me.'

At this moment, Edgar, unaware of the seriousness of the situation, was sitting in his sports car.
