Chapter 617 Nolan is a Jerk
Unmarried and pregnant, she got beat up and yelled at.
Everyone wanted to drag her through the mud.
She had to look out for herself and her unborn baby, barely scraping by, with no one giving a damn about her.
Ethan's fists were so tight his knuckles went white; he felt like crap.
Holding Jasmine close, Ethan whispered, "I'm sorry. I got here too late."
"So I want to know what it's like to have you by my side, while I'm pregnant." Jasmine cried and then laughed, thinking about her two boys being there and her husband looking after her during checkups. It felt like heaven.
Just thinking about it made her feel all warm inside.
Ethan, his voice shaky, said, "I'll be with you, always."
He hoped he wouldn't mess up again and let Jasmine down.
Howard's mess needed fixing fast, and they had to find out who was behind it, pronto.
No time to waste.
At the ER payment counter, Nolan paid the fees for Ethan and Jasmine, then saw Amelia and Nathaniel heading into the doctor's office.
It was the gynecology ER.
In the middle of the night, a big-shot celeb like Nathaniel bringing Amelia to the gynecology ER?
Nolan's face went dark, and he stormed over, fuming.
How could Amelia not have any self-respect?
What did she think she was doing? Nathaniel clearly had it out for the Carter family, treating her like a toy, and she was just jumping into his bed. It was pathetic.
Fuming, Nolan was about to barge into the consultation room when he heard the doctor say, "Miss, you need to think carefully about whether you want this baby. If you really don't, you need to arrange for an abortion soon. Waiting any longer will harm your body."
Amelia sat there with red eyes, looking pale.
She was quiet for a long time before looking up at the doctor. "Sir, is this baby healthy?"
"Based on the current tests, everything looks good." The doctor nodded.
Amelia's face went even paler.
She didn't know what to do.
Nathaniel stood behind her, softly saying, "If you want to keep this baby, I'll support you."
Outside, Nolan's face was like a thundercloud.
Pregnant?
Young girls these days really didn't know how to respect themselves.
Nathaniel would just mess around with girls. How could he support her keeping this baby?
Was he nuts? A guy who didn't want to take responsibility and hadn't even said he'd marry her yet said he supported her keeping the baby?
Nolan felt like he was about to lose it and wanted to go in and punch Nathaniel, but he stopped himself.
What right did he have to control Amelia? If she wanted to mess up her life, no one could save her.
Nolan realized Amelia was already deep in her mess, and if he didn't want more trouble, he should stay out of it.
"Nolan, what are you doing?" Edgar called out.
Nolan hesitated, glanced at the consultation room, and decided not to interfere, turning to leave.
Everyone had their own path; he couldn't help or change it.
This was Amelia's choice.
Just as Nolan left, Amelia and Nathaniel came out.
"Thank you," Amelia said softly. "I'm sorry for dragging you to the hospital so late. You're a big deal; what if someone finds out? Let's get out of here."
Nathaniel shook his head and held out his hand to Amelia. "Let's go. The doctors and nurses are watching. Whether you keep this baby or not, the baby needs a father."
Amelia's eyes welled up, and she slipped her hand into Nathaniel's.
He held her hand, walking slowly.
A few steps away, Nolan and Edgar stopped.
Nolan said, "You go ahead; I need to handle something."
He felt a sudden discomfort.
If he hadn't pushed Amelia away, hadn't rejected her, would she be in this mess?
Rushing back, he saw Nathaniel holding Amelia's hand. They looked like a couple, like they were married.
Nolan clenched his fists, not sure why he felt so uneasy.
Was it because of possessiveness or anger?
He couldn't figure it out.
Finally, he stepped forward, frowning as he stood in front of Amelia.
Amelia was startled and instinctively tried to hide behind Nathaniel.
Nolan reached out and pulled Amelia into his arms, warning Nathaniel, who was trying to stop him. "If you don't want tomorrow's headlines to be about a movie star at a late-night gynecology ER, you'd better leave now."
Nathaniel frowned, glaring at him. "Nolan, what are you trying to do?"
Amelia also looked at Nolan in fear. Did he know? Did he know she was secretly pregnant with his child?
"Nolan, what are you trying to do? This has nothing to do with Nathaniel!" Amelia tried to break free from Nolan's grip, her eyes red as she tried to defend Nathaniel.
Nolan sneered. "Amelia, you're a grown woman. Didn't anyone teach you to be reserved?"
Amelia's body stiffened, her breathing quickened, and she lowered her head.
She was shameless; that's why she had clung to him before. But now, she had run away. What more did he want?
"Nolan, don't go too far. Amelia is not feeling well; we need to go back." Nathaniel tried to stop him.
Nolan spoke in a deep voice, "Nathaniel, I'm giving you a second chance. Leave now, or you'll be blacklisted tomorrow. You can try if you don't believe me."
Nathaniel's face darkened—this lunatic.
Amelia panicked. "What are you doing? Nolan, what are you trying to do?"
"If you don't want your dad to die in jail, you'd better listen to me." Nolan threatened.
Amelia trembled all over, looking back at Nathaniel. "Nathaniel, don't argue with a madman. You should go."
Nathaniel disagreed, wanting to say something, but Amelia interrupted him. "Nathaniel, you should go. He won't do anything to me."
Nathaniel looked angrily at Nolan. "Nolan, you're the president of the Cunningham Group. Do you really need to bully a young girl?"
"She's mine. Before you touch her, you should think twice." Nolan warned Nathaniel. By using Amelia to get revenge on her and make her pregnant, he had chosen the wrong person.
Nathaniel frowned, never expecting Nolan to care so much about Amelia.
"Nathaniel, you should go. Don't let anyone see you," Amelia said, not finishing her sentence when Nolan forcibly dragged her away.
She shouted, "Nolan, what exactly do you want?"
Thrown into the car by Nolan, Amelia's stomach hurt so much that she sweated. "Nolan, let me go."
Nolan got into the car and immediately called Elijah, "Schedule the earliest abortion surgery for tomorrow morning."
Amelia had to get rid of this child. Unmarried pregnancy was irresponsible.
She was such an idiot.
Amelia's eyes were red and swollen, burning with irritation.
Did he hate her and the baby that much?
"Nolan, you bastard. I hate you. The child is mine. What right do you have to make decisions for me?" Amelia struggled to open the car door and get out, but Nolan restrained her.
"Have you had enough?" Nolan was angry.
