Chapter 360 Annabelle on the Verge of Losing Sanity
Those employees were stunned for a moment. Each of them fell silent, afraid to speak.
After all, they were all bullies who preyed on the weak.
Jasmine also chuckled sarcastically, finding them truly pitiful.
They only dared to bully the weak, becoming more ruthless the weaker the target.
When she learned to fight back and stood up to them one day, they all backed down one by one.
It was truly laughable, pitiful, and sad.
Stepping out of the elevator, she stood still for a long time, taking three deep breaths to calm herself.
She discovered that only by standing up for herself, showing courage and strength, did these people fall silent and become fearful.
Hearing her mention legal action, the people in the elevator scattered, afraid to linger, fearing her recognition.
Jasmine looked up at Ethan with sadness and opened her mouth, but made no sound.
He reached out, pulled her into his arms, and gently patted her head, saying, "You did great. As long as I'm here, you have nothing to fear; you can do whatever you want."
Her eyes welled up with tears, gripping his arm tightly, speaking, "They went too far."
"Yes, when dealing with villains, the more yielding you are, the more they take advantage. Understand? You must be brave, learn to fight back, and assess the situation," he said.
In the elevator, Annabelle and her assistant stepped out, witnessing her being held stiffly by him, giving a sarcastic smile, saying, "In public, you two are engaging in intimate interactions right here."
Ethan’s eyes darkened as he looked at Annabelle. "You aren't worthy of love. Are you qualified to say?"
Enraged, Annabelle's expression darkened. "Ethan, I will see how far you can go. Today's project investment is mine to claim."
With that, she departed with her assistant.
"Annabelle, Jasmine seems greatly provoked, her face all but drained."
"She deserved it," Annabelle smirked, reveling in her delight.
She awaited the moment to witness their downfall.
At the bidding site.
Alex sat in the meeting room and smiled at Ethan, Jasmine, and Annabelle, saying, "I'm very interested in the direction of sustainable development in new energy, and I really like your project proposals."
"Thank you for the appreciation, Mr. Everhart," Annabelle replied with a smile, eager to respond.
"Since everyone is here, let's begin," Alex's assistant stood up, smiling as he spoke.
"Am I late?" Evelina entered gracefully in high heels, her elegant demeanor exuding sophistication.
Due to not having children, she had maintained her figure well, with smooth skin that belied her fifty years, appearing no more than thirty-eight or thirty-nine at most.
Indeed, money and a happy life were a woman's best beauty secrets.
Alex was momentarily surprised, looked at Evelina with some astonishment, and said, "Evelina, why didn't you tell me you were coming? I could have brought you along this morning."
Evelina said with a smile, "I was actually on my way to the welfare home and just happened to pass by."
Sitting beside him, she spoke again, "Don't mind me, please continue."
Alex glanced at her. Having been married to her for so many years, he understood her well. He knew she was upset with him.
Yet, he thought she was sensible and felt he owed her a favor.
"Alex, Jasmine is a good friend of mine. I gave her the opportunity to present the project first," Annabelle said with a smile, intending to mock Jasmine first.
Jasmine tightened her grip on Ethan's hand, looking at him.
"Can you do this?" Ethan whispered.
She nodded. "I'm fine."
Standing up, she took a deep breath and confidently presented the project's direction and the company's future development.
Annabelle's expression soured. She frowned as she watched her for a long time, her hands tightly gripping the pen.
This approach wasn't very effective.
It didn't have much impact on her.
Was Connor holding back from what he had said to her?
Connor was quite the skilled hunter.
He probably wasn't telling the whole truth, waiting for her to step into the situation he had set up!
Jasminespoke confidently about the company's future development, poised and charismatic.
Evelina watched Jasmine, her gaze wandering, a mix of admiration, approval, and a hint of sadness.
Now, she was known to everyone as Mrs. Everhart, and she was addressed by all with respect.
She was Alex's wife, the beloved Mrs. Everhart.
Wherever she went, she was associated with Alex's name.
Over time, she had forgotten that she was once an ambitious businesswoman.
She and Cordelia were lifelong rivals, always in fierce competition for the top spot, from school grades to work projects, both fueled by the desire to win and improve their lives.
Essentially, they were rivals outwardly but good friends in private.
Before getting married and having children, they truly lived for themselves.
After Jasmine finished speaking, she clapped and smiled.
Seeing Evelina applaud, others quickly followed suit.
Annabelle's expression soured, her mindset starting to crumble.
Clearly, Evelina favored Jasmine more.
When it was Annabelle's turn to present her project and plans, she stumbled a few times but quickly regained her composure.
However, after she finished, she didn't receive Evelina applause.
The employees could see clearly, but they dared not speak up.
Alex livened the atmosphere with a smile, leading the applause.
Alex said, "The field of new energy is the trend of the future, with plenty of room for development. I'm interested in your proposals, and we have decided that we will all invest proportionally."
Ethan and Jasmine had already received the news, so they weren't surprised.
However, Annabelle was visibly displeased. "Mr. Everhart, for projects of the same type, are you asking both sides to invest? We are competitors in the future. This is quite unusual..."
Business competition was always about the survival of the fittest, competing against each other.
Ethan's new company and hers were clearly in direct competition, with only one likely to survive in the end.
Alex's actions were essentially giving away money as a favor.
"We have our reasons for this," Alex signaled Annabelle not to say too much.
"Mr. Everhart, for your benefit, I believe we can make a wager," Annabelle said.
She confidently mentioned the Stellar Enterprises behind her, certain she could crush Ethan.
Once they signed the wager agreement, if Ethan lost, he would be out of the game and faced a harsh outcome.
Alex glanced at his team and then at Ethan.
Ethan smiled meaningfully. "I'm fine."
Jasmine felt nervous, thinking, 'Signing the wager meant we could only win, not lose.'
Evelina, sitting across from them, didn't look pleased either, her gaze wandering.
In the end, Alex chose to give Karen a face.
His phone rang, displaying Karen's name.
Over the years, Alex had never secretly answered calls, a habit Evelina was unaware of, so he left the phone on the table.
Evelina glanced at it, unconsciously tightening her grip.
Alex felt a bit guilty, but with her present, he answered the call in front of her to prove his innocence.
On the other line, Karen cried urgently. "Alex, I'm still in Maple Grove. Serena, my daughter, is in critical condition. The hospital issued a critical condition notice, and I'm desperate to get back. I can't afford the fastest flight back. Can you help me?"
