Chapter 501 Howard Strikes at Ethan Again
"Mess with me, and you'll never come back!" Howard sneered at Ethan for burning his bridges.
Ethan had been helping Raymond against the Douglas family, which had already stirred up a lot of anger among the Douglas Group's top brass. Going back to the Douglas Group would be nearly impossible for him now.
With Claire and Daniel stirring the pot, Ethan was now the Douglas Group's enemy.
Everyone was cursing him.
"Are you so sure the president of Raymond Group will listen to you?" Ethan laughed. If it weren't for the wrong timing, he would've loved to rile Howard up even more.
"When it comes to pure profit, emotions don't matter," Howard lectured Ethan.
He thought Ethan was fearless because he believed he had a good relationship with the president of Raymond Group.
But no matter how good the relationship, it couldn't beat pure profit. Ethan was naive.
Ethan just watched Howard quietly.
He was already anxious.
But it wasn't time yet.
"Sorry, Mr. Douglas, our president won't see you," Raymond's president's assistant bluntly told Howard.
Ethan watched Howard like it was a show. "Dad, he won't see you."
Howard was furious. "That's just an excuse. If I want to see him, I'll find a way."
Howard was sure that even if he took a hit this time, he'd have to stop the fight with Raymond for now.
Continuing to fight with the Douglas Group would bring no benefits for Raymond.
In business, profit was everything, and Raymond was just in it for the money.
"Really?" Ethan retorted.
"At tonight's business banquet, the president of Raymond Group, as the new business association president, will definitely attend. Do you think I won't see him?" Howard warned, pointing at Ethan. "Stop helping outsiders, or even your mother won't forgive you."
"You have no right to mention my mom." Ethan's face darkened.
Howard glared at Ethan. "I am your father! You have my blood in your veins!"
"So you want to cut me off, turn your back on me? Fine," Howard sneered, his voice dripping with disdain. "But I won't let you."
The father and son were now complete enemies.
Ethan had no intention of leaving any room for reconciliation. "We'll see about it."
Ethan smirked and walked away.
Howard wished he could go back in time and kill Ethan. Ethan had grown up and was now opposing him.
Now Ethan thought he was powerful, relying on the president of Raymond Group!
"Sir, what should we do? You know his capabilities. If he keeps opposing the Douglas Group, Raymond Group will keep helping him." Assistant Mark was worried.
"I'll make him understand that I'm always better than him," Howard snorted, feeling embarrassed after being rejected by Raymond Group's president. "The banquet, Raymond Group's president will attend. Find out in advance."
Mark nodded. "Yes, sir."
"Ethan is too arrogant now. Have someone follow him and teach him a lesson. I don't want him at this banquet." Howard's voice was icy.
Mark was startled but nodded. "Sir, how far are we talking? I don't want to... ."
After all, Ethan was Howard's son.
"Just don't kill him. It's okay if he's hurt. Handle it as you see fit!" Howard snorted.
On the way to pick up Jasmine, Ethan saw messages in the group chat.
[Did you hear? That woman in the project department is dating their director.]
[You guys are bold, talking about this in the group?]
[The people from Group B haven't joined yet.]
Ethan frowned and had his assistant mute the group chat. They dared to gossip there.
That was his wife, Ethan's wife, and had nothing to do with Samuel.
"Faster," Ethan said, leaning back in his seat, a bit annoyed.
The driver quickly turned around and headed to the barbecue place where Jasmine was having dinner.
He waited in the car for a long time, but Jasmine didn't come out. Worried, he got out of the car.
He saw Jasmine, drunk, being helped out by Samuel.
"Are you stupid? You drink whatever people give you," Samuel said, looking annoyed.
Someone had given Jasmine a drink that tasted like juice but had a high alcohol content. One bottle was enough to get her drunk.
Jasmine thought it was a soft drink and drank a lot. In no time, she had downed two bottles!
For someone who usually didn't drink, two bottles were more than enough.
Jasmine was so drunk she couldn't stand and was heavily intoxicated.
She was calling out for her brother.
When sober, Jasmine could force herself not to think about the past, but drunk, she still called out for Evan.
After all, they had lived together for twenty-one years.
"Evan, I'm sorry. Please don't abandon me," Jasmine said softly, snuggling into Samuel's arms. "Evan, why were you so mean to me? If you didn't love me, you shouldn't have been so good to me in the first place."
Samuel couldn't hear what Jasmine was saying but was shocked to see her crying.
She was drunk, her eyes red, crying hard.
Her tears were like a flood, unstoppable.
Someone deliberately took photos, capturing ambiguous pictures of Jasmine and Samuel.
This further fueled the rumors that they were dating.
When Ethan saw Jasmine, she was already so drunk she was unconscious, clinging to Samuel and crying, calling out for Evan.
Ethan's head hurt. He rushed over and pulled her into his arms, giving Samuel a warning look.
Samuel looked helplessly at Ethan, who was taking Jasmine away. He hadn't done anything.
In the car, Jasmine was restless, pointing at Ethan and crying and laughing. "Evan, when you get married and have a girlfriend, will you abandon me?"
"Evan, why are you so good to me?"
He had promised her the world, then he shattered her dreams, throwing her into the hell.
Ethan's grip on Jasmine tightened. He knew Jasmine was calling for Evan.
Jasmine had lived with the Wilson family for twenty-one years. Before the truth about the real and fake daughters came out, Evan had indeed been very protective of his sister.
He was famous in their circle for doting on his sister.
But unfortunately, he had made a mistake, and it couldn't be undone.
Because the harm was already a fact.
"Jasmine, I'll be with you from now on. I'll always be by your side," Ethan said softly.
"Don't lie." Jasmine seemed to understand, snuggling into Ethan's arms. "Honey, are you my husband?"
Ethan was amused. "Whose husband am I?"
Jasmine looked at Ethan and giggled. "Mine, Jasmine's, no, Yasmine's husband! Ethan is Yasmine's."
Ethan lovingly kissed Jasmine's forehead. "Yes, I'm yours."
"Mr. Douglas, there's a car accident ahead. We can only take a detour. Is that okay?" the driver asked.
"Okay, get us home as soon as possible," Ethan said, feeling sorry for Jasmine and wanting to get her home quickly.
He didn't notice the cars following them.
