Chapter 704 Deborah Lost to Avery

Ethan looked at the partners and spoke in a deep voice, "What? You think I should be dead?"

The partners were stunned.

If Ethan wasn't dead and they canceled their cooperation with the Douglas Group, it would be a huge loss.

Deborah had promised them that her people would take over the Douglas Group and thatcooperation would continue by then. They were just using this opportunity to force Jasmine out.

But Deborah didn't say Ethan was still alive, and he had come back!

Everyone knew Ethan's capabilities. Now that he was back, there was no doubt the Douglas Group would smoothly get through this crisis.

"Mr. Douglas!" The Douglas Group members were also shocked, and those who had sold their shares regretted it.

But it was too late.

"During this time, I've been recuperating, and Jasmine has been managing the household and the company for me," Ethan said, holding Jasmine with one arm, his voice low. "I heard that some people took advantage of my absence to bully Jasmine and even tried to destabilize the company. I always stick up for my family, no matter what. Those who mess with my people will have to pay a price."

Everyone panicked, and someone mustered the courage to step forward. "This is a misunderstanding for real. We should continue our cooperation. I see it as a misunderstanding."

Ethan looked down at Jasmine. "Still want to cooperate?"

Jasmine sneered. "No need."

As soon as Jasmine finished speaking, the police stepped forward, calling out names from a list and taking people away.

Jasmine glanced at Ethan and whispered, "I used that list."

"It was bound to be handed over to the police sooner or later." Ethan reassured, rubbing Jasmine's head. "Don't worry."

"I originally planned to use that list to exchange with Mark for evidence of Claire killing your mother, but I..." Jasmine lowered her head, having used the list prematurely.

Ethan smiled. "Even if my mom knew, she would want me to protect you first."

Jasmine hugged Ethan tightly, her voice choked. "You're back, and you're not leaving again, right?"

Ethan nodded.

Everyone was shocked by this huge change in the Douglas Group. The media frantically took pictures. The police questioned many partners, and many project leaders were taken away at the press conference. This was big news.

Now, the Douglas Group wasn't finished; the business circle was going to be reorganized.

And with Ethan's return at this time, he would definitely be the biggest winner in this battle.

He would establish a new order.

In the Hawthorne Group, Deborah was still smugly watching the time, waiting for Avery's last three hours. "Avery, thirty minutes left."

Avery remained calm, raising an eyebrow. "No rush."

When the time was up, Avery looked at her phone and smiled at Deborah.

One of Deborah's people couldn't hold back anymore and stood up. "Avery, a bet is a bet. This is a betting agreement, not a joke. If you lose, you have to admit it. Otherwise, even if you manage the company, you won't have any credibility."

"Exactly, there's no need to wait for the last few minutes."

Deborah's people began to stand up.

"We support Deborah as the new president!"

Avery just watched these people gloat.

Soon, the conference room door was pushed open, and the secretary walked in, adjusting her glasses. "The chairman of Radiant Group is being questioned by the police for tax evasion and illegal money laundering. The cooperation project is void."

Avery raised an eyebrow. "Deborah, you lost a project."

Deborah's face darkened.

How did he get caught at this time?

Soon, the secretary spoke again, "The chairman of Chemicals Company is being questioned, and the project is void."

One by one, Deborah's projects were canceled.

Deborah panicked and stood up abruptly to make a phone call.

That's when she found out that Ethan had returned at the press conference.

Hearing that Ethan was back, Deborah's breath caught, and her legs went weak.

She almost couldn't stand.

Ethan wasn't dead?

Knowing she would definitely lose this time, Deborah turned to leave and find Messiah to ask what was going on.

But Avery stopped Deborah. "A bet is a bet. Sign it."

Avery wanted the shares in Deborah's hands.

Deborah's face changed. These were the shares Ethan had helped her fight for, the ones she had risked her life to save Ethan for.

Were they really going to be taken back by Avery just like that?

"Avery!" Deborah didn't want to give them up.

Outside, Ethan arrived with Jasmine.

"What? Can't accept losing?" Jasmine sneered, questioning Deborah.

Deborah saw Ethan and took a fearful step back. "You're still alive."

"Surprised?" Ethan raised his eyes, his voice low.

Deborah leaned against the wall, her voice hoarse. "Ethan, this is all a misunderstanding. Avery deliberately set me up, forcing me to sign the betting agreement. She wants to take all the shares you helped me get."

Deborah still wanted to evoke a bit of guilt in Ethan.

Ethan looked at Deborah coldly. "My son was kidnapped, and my wife was schemed against. Was it you?"

"Ethan." Deborah panicked. "You can't say that about me. I once saved your life."

"Even if you hadn't saved me, that car wouldn't have hit me. Besides, what kind of favor do you think justifies you messing with my family?" Ethan's voice was low as he looked at Deborah.

He walked over and picked up the betting agreement on the table. "Deborah, I warned you. If you behaved, I would let you go. But you were too greedy."

Throwing the agreement, Ethan spoke again, "What I can give you, I can also take back!"

Avery smirked, looking at the dumbfounded board members. "A bet is a bet. These shares must be handed over."

The lawyer arrived, asking Deborah to sign.

Deborah refused to sign. She was unwilling to lose just like that.

"Not signing? Then see you in court." Avery raised an eyebrow.

Deborah looked at Avery unwillingly, then resentfully at Jasmine. "Do you think you've won? You won't win."

Deborah didn't believe she would lose. This was just temporary. She still had a trump card, and that was Messiah.

Messiah had been planning for so many years; he wouldn't let everything go to waste.

The Douglas Group would eventually belong to Messiah.

Who would win in the end was still uncertain!

Furiously signing, Deborah turned and left.

She thought, 'We'll see. This isn't over.'

At least Edgar had listened to Owen and was now competing with Nolan for the Cunningham Group's president position.

Once the Cunningham Group was in chaos, Ethan and Jasmine would have no backup.

By then, when Messiah took over the Douglas family, they would all be kicked out!
