Chapter 893 The Company Does Not Prohibit Boss-Employee Relationships
Manager's Office.
Hestia was hiding behind the blinds, secretly watching outside.
Marlon also took a quick glance. "Do you think this will work?"
"Only criminals return to the scene of the crime. If Primrose's scared, she'll definitely try to destroy the evidence quickly." The files on the computer were handled separately by everyone, and the surveillance couldn't clearly capture the computer operations, so they could only wait for Primrose to fall into the trap.
"How did you guess it was a business sabotage?" Marlon was a bit puzzled.
Hestia glanced at him and spoke softly. "Marlon, our fiercest competitor right now is the Powell family from Kerea. The current president of the Powell Corporation is my senior, about two years younger than you, named Lily. She's not a good person and uses underhanded tactics."
Since returning from Kerea, Hestia had been wary of Lily. Sure enough, Lily targeted the legal department of the Cunningham Group.
Hestia also guessed that the legal department was the strictest line of defense. Once breached, the Cunningham Group would lose credibility, then their position in Silverlight City would be unstable, and their stock would be volatile.
Marlon nodded. "Let's keep an eye on it."
Before long, Primrose couldn't sit still.
When everyone went to lunch, Primrose looked around, opened the computer, and tried to destroy the evidence secretly.
As long as the modified version on the computer was restored, she could firmly claim that someone framed her and that the document wasn't altered by her.
Taking a deep breath, Primrose opened the document, intending to delete the illegal content.
At that moment, Hestia walked in, holding her phone to record Primrose's actions.
"Primrose, it's a bit late to change it now," Hestia said in a deep voice.
Primrose was startled and stood up abruptly, pretending to be confused. "Hestia, what are you talking about?"
"You attempted to alter the project content, causing trouble for the company and damaging its reputation. This is already an act of corporate espionage. You studied law; you should know you're committing a crime," Hestia said with a frown.
Primrose sneered. "Stop scaremongering. I don't know what you're talking about."
Primrose didn't admit it and didn't take Hestia seriously. "Besides, even if you tell, who would believe you?"
Hestia pointed to her phone. "I recorded everything. I'll post it in the company group and tag the leaders."
Primrose frowned, glaring at Hestia angrily. "Hestia, what good does it do you to offend me? I can make sure you can't stay in the Cunningham Group. Why make an enemy?"
"Why can you make me leave?" Hestia asked curiously. "The Cunningham Group isn't owned by your family."
Even if it were Primrose's family, there had to be reason.
She was betraying the company, which was a major offense.
"With my dad's power, he can even make you disappear from Silverlight City," Primrose threatened softly.
"No matter, but you have to pay for your mistakes before I disappear," Hestia said, looking behind her as Marlon walked in.
Marlon, with a stern expression, greeted the police at the door. "Yes, there's illegal business competition. We have evidence."
Primrose's face turned extremely pale, nervously looking at Marlon. "Marlon, what do you mean? I... I just found a few small mistakes and wanted to correct them. There's no need... Hestia framed me."
"Hestia!" Primrose said angrily. "I know, you're just jealous of me and want to harm me!"
Hestia sighed, still stubborn. "No one wants to harm you. The one harming you has always been yourself."
Doing too many bad things would eventually lead to self-destruction.
"Hestia, just you wait! I won't let you off. Do you think you can stay in the Cunningham Group without backing?" Primrose said angrily, throwing things off the table and turning to leave.
Hestia didn't say much. She was focused on her work.
Every document and project had to be carefully reviewed. Even after work, she had to work overtime, fearing Edward would be schemed against again.
Although she didn't have much ability to help Edward, she could do her best to guard the legal department for him.
Restaurant.
"I heard Primrose was taken away by the police."
"It was Hestia who deliberately smeared her."
"Hestia is really reckless. What's her background compared to Primrose's? Just wait, Primrose will be back in a few days, and Hestia will be out."
Hestia carried her tray, found a quiet place to sit, and listened to her colleagues gossip about her.
She seemed to have been lonely since childhood, probably because she really didn't know how to get along with people.
Lowering her head, she ate silently, feeling a bit sad.
But no matter what others said, she didn't care for now. Edward's interests were the most important, and she didn't need to explain.
Just as Hestia wanted to finish eating quickly and leave, a tray was placed in front of her.
Hestia looked up and saw Edward, in a suit with his arm in a sling, sitting across from her, eating the same employee meal.
Didn't CEOs have a special area to eat?
Edward used his right hand to pick up a chicken leg and placed it on Hestia's tray. "Honey, I haven't seen you for three days."
Hestia was so busy she didn't go home, almost living at the company.
"Work has been heavy lately," Hestia said softly. "I've been going home at noon the past few days."
She went home to shower and change clothes, then coming back to work.
"Don't overwork yourself. Work isn't just your responsibility; everyone has to pitch in," Edward said, feeling sorry for Hestia.
"But I don't trust others," Hestia said, continuing to eat. "I've seen too many cases where large companies collapsed due to seemingly insignificant issues."
Edward paused. "Don't worry, I'll handle it."
"I'm doing all I can," Hestia said softly.
Her recent frantic work is a manifestation of her insecurity, not a feeling of being unworthy of Edward, but rather a desire to reciprocate his value.
"You're doing great. I heard from your manager. I'll handle this matter seriously," Edward said, sitting next to Hestia and rubbing her head. "I have a rest area upstairs. Come up with me later, take a shower, and rest. I'll have your change of clothes brought over. Keep some toiletries here, and come find me at noon. We'll rest together."
Hestia's eyes lit up. Being able to rest was great.
But Edward was in the CEO's office.
"Don't worry, sneak up, and no one will see you," Edward said with a helpless smile.
"Okay," Hestia nodded. She was really tired.
Her eyes hurt.
Seeing Hestia and Edward's intimate behavior, some colleagues were unplesant.
"Who's that? Hestia's boyfriend? Our company doesn't allow office romances. Is she looking for trouble?"
"Hey! Hestia, is that your boyfriend?" someone who didn't like Hestia came over.
They were all interns who had just been made permanent, so it was normal not to recognize Edward.
Hestia looked at Edward and shook her head. "No."
Edward looked a bit disappointed.
"He's my husband," Hestia said again.
Edward instantly became excited, happier than winning the lottery.
"The company policy prohibits employee relationships. Didn't you see?" the colleague challenged.
Edward spoke in a deep voice. "The policy only prohibits relationships during work hours that affect work. This is lunch time, and the policy doesn't say employees and the boss can't date during breaks."
