Chapter 642 Casey Wants to Kill Everyone

On the way to the hospital, Jasmine was lost in thought.

If she didn't take Casey away, Mark wouldn't believe she was serious.

But if she took the kid, Casey would be scared out of his mind.

How could she achieve both goals?

Rubbing her temples, Jasmine thought for a while before saying, "Let's go home first."

Ben glanced at her. "The Cunningham family?"

"Take Justin and Joe over; let them stay with Casey," Jasmine said softly.

The only thing she could do was involve her own son.

Ben said, "Even though our people are just pretending to take Lisa and Casey and won't actually hurt them, Mark might not see it that way. If he steps in or does something, the kids could get hurt."

Right now, Justin and Joe shouldn't be involved.

Jasmine clenched her hands. "That's why we need to be extra careful to keep the kids safe."

Ben sighed. She still couldn't bring herself to harm a child.

At Capital Hospital, Casey was terrified, hiding in a corner and refusing to come out despite the doctors, nurses, and Lisa trying to coax him.

"Casey." Lisa's voice cracked as she squatted down, looking at Casey hiding in the vent.

No one knew how he got in there. Adults couldn't fit, and it was too dangerous for him to stay inside.

Casey's eyes were red as he hid inside, like it was the only place he felt safe.

His dad hadn't loved him since he was little, so he really missed having a dad. The only people he trusted were Daniel, Ethan, and Howard.

But Daniel used him to hurt Justin and Joe, and Howard used him to harm Ethan.

Kids might seem like they didn't get it, but they actually understood a lot.

He felt like he wasn't needed, not wanted by this world, or loved by anyone.

He lay inside, refusing to come out no matter who tried to talk to him.

Casey was traumatized, having had a high fever for days, with his parents' arguments echoing in his ears.

Jordan said, "If it weren't for him, do you think I would have married you!"

Lisa retorted, "Do you think I wanted to give birth to him? Jordan, the thing I regret most is marrying you!"

Jordan yelled, "Then go get a divorce!"

Every time Jordan and Lisa argued, they dragged Casey into it. It seemed like neither of them loved him.

Casey always cried and hid in a corner, watching his parents argue, break things, and fight.

He really wasn't wanted by this world, nor loved by his parents.

He was like an orphan, growing up with the nanny.

Finally, one day, his mom changed and started to love him. He also had two good friends, Justin and Joe. He thought everything would get better.

But now everything had changed.

"Ethan," Casey whispered.

Where was Ethan?

Ethan had held him in his arms to save him, desperately lifting him out of the water.

Lisa squatted on the ground, listening to Casey call for Ethan, finally unable to hold back and covering her mouth as she cried.

She never expected Howard to use Casey to harm Ethan.

She never expected that even knowing the danger, Ethan would still go because of Casey.

From the day she entered the Douglas family, she knew Ethan didn't like her, even hated her.

She never thought Ethan would risk his life for her child.

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry," Lisa kept crying and apologizing.

But what good was an apology?

Claire, Howard, and even her so-called biological father had done too many unforgivable things to Ethan.

"Casey, come to mommy, okay?" Lisa cried, reaching out to Casey.

Casey looked at Lisa with red eyes but refused to come out.

Outside the door, Tom brought Justin and Joe over first.

The act had to be convincing.

Justin had long wanted to see Casey, but the Cunningham family had kept the incident with Ethan from Justin and Joe, not daring to let them meet Casey.

If it weren't for Jasmine's insistence, Cordelia would never have agreed to let them come over.

"Justin, Joe," Lisa wiped her eyes, looking at Justin and Joe in surprise.

At this moment, Jasmine actually agreed to let them come over.

Justin ran to the vent, squatted down, and looked at Casey hiding inside, reaching out his small hand. "Casey, it's dirty in there, come out."

The moment Casey saw Justin, he burst into tears.

Justin wiggled his small hand, signaling him to come out, but Casey seemed stuck and couldn't get out.

"Don't be afraid. I'll protect you," Justin crawled in, moving towards Casey.

"Be careful," Lisa anxiously tried to help, but the adults couldn't fit in.

"It'll be okay," Joe, wearing little overalls, seriously comforted Lisa very soothingly.

Lisa couldn't hold back anymore, hugging Joe and crying.

Joe gently patted Lisa's back. "Don't cry, don't cry. Be good."

In the vent, Casey was crying hard, with tears and snot coming out.

Justin crawled over, holding Casey's head in his arms and patting him. "Don't be afraid, Casey."

Casey nodded, wiping his snot on Justin, but Justin didn't mind.

"Justin, I'm scared," Casey cried, wanting Justin to hold him.

Justin freed Casey's stuck leg and led him out. "I'm here. I'll protect you."

Casey sniffled, looking at Justin. "Will you always protect me?"

Justin nodded, the promise between children seeming even more weighty. "Justin will always protect Casey."

"Justin," Casey cried. "Justin won't abandon Casey, right? Justin wouldn't abandon Casey like my dad and grandpa, right?"

Justin nodded. "Justin will never abandon Casey, never ignore Casey."

Casey suddenly bit Justin's hand. "Leave a mark, then you can't abandon me."

Justin's eyes reddened from the pain but still nodded seriously.

Casey curled up his legs, speaking softly to Justin, "Can I kill all the bad people?"

Justin looked at Casey. "No, killing is illegal."

Casey looked at Justin. "Even killing bad people is illegal?"

Justin nodded. "Bad people should be handed over to the police. Casey can't kill them."

"Those who hurt Justin and me are all bad people. Kill them all," Casey said softly, drawing circles on the ground.

Justin took a piece of candy from his pocket, coaxing Casey to eat it. "Do you want to eat this?"

Casey looked at the candy and nodded.

"Then do you still want to kill people?" Justin asked seriously.

Casey shook his head naively. "No."

Justin nodded in satisfaction, unwrapping the candy and putting it in Casey's mouth.

Casey smiled naively, with snot running down his face.
