Chapter 827 Edward's Family Background
Silverlight City International Airport.
Ethan had just gotten off the plane and felt a tightness in his chest.
"What's wrong?" Raymond asked.
Ethan frowned and took out his phone. "It's nothing, I'm just going to call my wife."
He walked forward while calling Jasmine, but no one answered.
Raymond glanced around and sure enough, someone was watching them.
Luckily, he didn't bring Lisa back.
"Mr. Mitchell, can we really get away with this?" A woman next to Raymond, who was dressed and looked similar to Lisa, asked in a low voice.
"No problem, we've already been targeted, don't worry." Raymond whispered, leading the group away.
He had placed Lisa in a safe place in Muskow, and then he and Ethan brought a woman who looked like Lisa back to Silverlight City to divert attention.
This way, those people's attention would be on Raymond.
Raymond needed to solve all the problems before Lisa returned to the country, so she could come back safely.
Meanwhile, Ethan was still on the phone.
Jasmine didn't answer, and he was a bit worried, so he called Ben.
"Mr. Douglas." Ben answered the phone.
"Where's Jasmine?" Ethan was worried, his eyelid twitching.
"Ms. Cunningham..." Ben hesitated.
Ethan's face darkened. "Ben, tell me the truth."
"Kavi's people are targeting Daniel, thinking that the evidence Mark left is with either Daniel or Lisa. Ms. Cunningham was worried the evidence would be destroyed and everything would be in vain, so she went to Boston without telling you." Ben said in a low voice.
Jasmine went to Boston to see Daniel without telling Ethan.
Ethan's breath tightened, and he stopped in his tracks.
After three seconds of silence, he ran outside. "Get the car ready, we're going to Boston! Hurry!"
He was afraid something would happen to Jasmine.
Class Reunion.
Jessa sat in a chair, looking at the serious-faced Saul. "What's so good about Hestia? She's plain, doesn't know how to dress up, and only knows how to study. You two have only held hands, right? What exactly attracts you to her that you can't forget her?"
She was a bit unconvinced, not understanding why Saul was so hung up on Hestia when she was superior to Hestia in every way.
"She's great, in every way." Saul said in a deep voice.
Jessa sneered and deliberately leaned on Saul's shoulder, her words ambiguous and seductive. "Do you believe what you're saying? If she was so great, why didn't you stop making love to me that night when you knew it was me?"
Saul's face darkened, and he clenched his fingers. "If you still want to save face, I suggest you shut up."
Jessa gritted her teeth. "What makes her better than me?"
"She's cleaner than you." Saul's voice was low.
Jessa laughed, men were really no good, was this a virgin complex?
"You're ridiculous. In the years you were gone, she had a boyfriend and even lived with him off-campus. I saw her kissing that guy outside the dorm. Is she as clean as you think?" Jessa's voice was low, filled with jealousy.
Saul clearly didn't believe Jessa's words and spoke in a low voice. "There's no need to put her down to elevate yourself."
"Hestia's here!" A classmate by the window shouted.
Everyone got excited, looking towards the door, waiting for Hestia to come in with her boyfriend.
Saul also looked towards the door, nervously clenching his fingers.
He came today just for Hestia.
The door opened, and Hestia bowed at the entrance. "Sorry I'm late."
Everyone was stunned, glancing around. "Is this Hestia?"
Hestia wore a white dress and high heels, with her long hair naturally flowing down. She took off her thick glasses, wore contact lenses, and even put on makeup! She carried a limited edition handbag, although she didn't know it was expensive, Edward gave it to her, saying his brother Edgar had good taste and matched it for her, so she wouldn't lose face at the reunion.
And this bag was a graduation gift from Edgar.
Edward said it wasn't worth much, just like two dollars to Edgar.
Hestia thought it wasn't very expensive and accepted Edgar's kind gesture.
Although she hadn't met Edward's family yet.
"Hestia, did you get plastic surgery?" A shocked roommate asked, pulling her to sit down. "You've changed so much."
Hestia was very embarrassed, she was three minutes late because Edward took her to a fashion store.
"Do I look strange?" Hestia asked softly.
The roommate's eyes were wide, shaking her head quickly. "Hestia, you're so beautiful, I thought you were a celebrity when you walked in!"
"Hestia! Your bag is the latest limited edition, over six hundred thousand dollars, is it real?" Someone recognized the bag Hestia was carrying.
This bag wasn't considered expensive, Edward was restrained when buying it, just thinking it matched her.
Hestia was stunned, looking down at the bag. "It's impossible, my husband's brother gave it to me, it shouldn't be very expensive."
"So it's fake?" Jessa sneered. "Parading around with that fake bag, your vanity is quite strong."
Hestia ignored her.
"Hestia, your husband? You're married?" The roommate keenly caught on.
Hestia originally didn't want to mention it, but seeing Saul there, she had a bit of a deliberate intention. "Yes, we just got the marriage license recently."
"Hestia, you're the first in our class, you have both career and love now? Where's your husband? We want to meet him." The classmates were excited, looking towards the door, but no one else came in.
"He had something urgent to attend to, so he couldn't make it." Hestia quickly explained.
Edward was really busy, he got a call while she was getting her makeup done, saying Jasmine was in trouble, and he left in a hurry.
He was very sorry he couldn't accompany Hestia.
But Hestia understood, Jasmine was important.
Edward had told Hestia about his family members, he said he had an older brother with congenital brain damage, a not-so-bright younger brother, a frail and sickly sister who couldn't take care of herself, and a mother with depression who would suicidal when not watched.
Hestia felt very sorry for him, he was the only normal one in the family, and the whole family relied on him.
She also felt sorry for him, thinking Edward was amazing, and she wanted to help Edward share the family's burden once she got a permanent job.
Edward had also asked her before they got married if she would mind his family's condition.
Hestia shook her head.
At that time, Hestia seemed to understand why such an excellent and extremely handsome man like Edward had to go on blind dates.
It was the burden of his family that forced him to go on blind dates.
Because nowadays, many girls were rational and clear-headed, such a heavy family burden was not something everyone was willing to endure.
"I think he doesn't dare to come, right?" Jessa sneered. "Getting married directly, what good condition could he have, probably he is very poor, otherwise he wouldn't buy such a fake bag to give you."
Hestia's gaze fell on Jessa, and she spoke in a deep voice. "My husband's family doesn't have much, but that's not a reason for you to attack him. What I value is his abilities, and his character, not the vanity you speak of."
