Chapter 861 Ethan is an Enviable Lucky Guy
Silverlight City.
Jasmine and Ethan returned home, both looking a bit worried.
"My eyelid keeps twitching. I wonder if Lisa and the others have managed to escape," Jasmine said with concern.
"With Richard and the others there, they'll be fine," Ethan reassured her, then called Richard.
After hanging up, Ethan's face didn't look good.
Casey was still playing with Justin, Joe, and Indigo, looking very harmonious and warm.
"Did something happen?" Jasmine asked softly.
Ethan shook his head and took Jasmine's hand, leading her into the study.
Jasmine felt very uneasy, knowing that something must have happened.
"Lisa is seriously injured and still in critical condition..."
Jasmine's face turned pale, and she collapsed onto the sofa.
Ethan rubbed his temples. "We need to make sure Kavi gets the punishment he deserves as soon as possible."
Jasmine nodded.
"Open it and take a look," Ethan said, holding the hard drive as he walked to the computer.
Jasmine was also a bit nervous, looking at Ethan. "Vincent said..."
"Don't worry about it," Ethan said, holding Jasmine's hand to reassure her.
Jasmine nodded. She believed the Cunningham family wouldn't do anything illegal.
The hard drive was connected to the computer, and there was a lot of content inside.
Mark was quite meticulous, with each person's folder well-labeled.
The first one was Howard.
Mark had thoroughly documented Howard's weaknesses.
"Howard must be furious," Ethan joked.
Jasmine nervously squeezed Ethan's hand. "Howard and Claire are already dead. With them gone, this is useless."
Ethan nodded and opened another folder: [the Douglas family.]
His fingers were trembling.
No wonder Vincent had warned him not to open it.
It turned out that the Douglas Group had been involved in illegal activities from the beginning until Ethan took over, and William had started to transform the company to make it legitimate for Ethan to take over.
The folder contained records of William's illegal operations.
"Fortunately, the Douglas Group has already gone bankrupt," Jasmine said, her body stiff. If the Douglas Group hadn't gone bankrupt, it would have affected Ethan.
"That's also why Juniper and Vincent were determined to destroy the Douglas Group," Ethan said, his voice slightly hoarse.
Juniper was protecting the children in her own way.
She could have stayed out of it, but she knew that if she didn't do this, the younger generation would also be affected.
"This is also the real reason for the fall of the Hamilton family."
Ethan looked at the evidence inside and finally understood why the Hamilton family had fallen.
"It was my Grandpa who used his life from the Hamilton family to exchange for my current peaceful life," Ethan said, lowering his head. "I used to think I was unlucky."
"My father didn't care about me, and my mother died early," Ethan's eyes were slightly red.
Jasmine hugged Ethan from behind. "Ethan, you are lucky. There are so many people who love you."
They were all silently making sacrifices.
William was a bad person, but in the end, he did one good deed. To keep Ethan from being implicated by his actions, he restructured his company. As a result, he became vulnerable to Mark, who used this as leverage to extort money and support from William.
Karma always came around.
Mark eventually got the punishment he deserved.
And Wesley, to protect Ethan, gave almost everything.
Juniper was forced to grow up from the day Ethan's mother passed away.
Originally, she was a carefree person who could grow up with Celeste's love and the elders' care. But overnight, the Hamilton family underwent a huge change, and the beloved Celeste was killed. She had to take on the heavy responsibility of raising the children.
In the end, she died in this conspiracy.
Juniper once said that she had no regrets. Even if she could do it all over again, she would still make the same choice.
And Vincent, who seemed cold and heartless, silently cleaned up everything for Ethan.
It seemed that all the dark things were done by him, and he took on all the responsibilities.
Ethan, on the other hand, was fortunate enough to conduct legitimate business and walk confidently on his broad, successful path.
"I finally understand now why Vincent looked at our home with such longing eyes the first time he came to our house." It was because Vincent really envied you.
He was like a bodyguard hiding in the shadows, silently protecting Ethan, living his whole life in the Ethan's shadow.
He also wanted to live openly and honestly.
He envied Ethan, and he indeed wanted to have everything Ethan had.
Jasmine suspected that Vincent must have struggled countless times on the edge of darkness, wanting to devour everything.
If he had turned bad, it would have been understandable, right?
But he didn't.
In the end, he still completed his so-called mission.
Just because the Hamilton family raised him.
Ethan didn't say anything, silently closing that folder.
The next folder was labeled Arnold.
Both Ethan and I tensed up.
Arnold.
Did the Sanders family have problems too?
Opening the folder, both them relaxed because Mark had only put one document in the folder, and it had one line: [Sick.]
This probably meant that Arnold was so cautious and meticulous that Mark couldn't find any weaknesses.
But the next folder was the Sanders family.
The Sanders family had indeed done some improper business in the early years, but Arnold's grandfather had taken all the responsibility, and by the time of Arnold's father, the company had already transformed.
So Arnold and Richard were safe.
"The Hawthorne family," Jasmine looked at Ethan.
It's problem was probably the biggest.
Ethan opened it and took a look, then looked at Jasmine.
Both of them were silent.
It turned out that Marshall was quite impressive.
Marshall was Kavi's contact in Silverlight City.
All of this was orchestrated by Marshall.
From the beginning, Marshall had made a deal with Kavi and Mark to deal with the Douglas family.
And Owen was an unfilial person who wanted to take over all his father's inheritance.
"Fortunately, Connor won't be affected." Connor wasn't involved in the company's management.
"But Avery..." Ethan's fingers lightly tapped the table.
Avery couldn't be cleared.
Economic crimes were hard to define.
"Do we really have to hand all of this over to the police?" Jasmine asked softly.
"No matter what, the Hawthorne family can't escape this. Avery can only try to prove she wasn't involved and reduce her culpability," Ethan shook his head.
Avery couldn't escape.
After copying the evidence and sending it to Avery, Ethan hesitated for a long time before calling Avery.
"Did you see what I sent you?" Ethan asked.
Avery seemed to have anticipated it and was very calm. "Yes, I guessed it."
"What are you planning to do?"
"Argue my case and try to protect myself as much as possible," Avery said calmly, then spoke again. "I asked a lawyer. I should be sentenced to... about three years."
Ethan didn't say anything.
"Ethan, I really envy you," Avery said with a self-deprecating smile.
Ethan had family members clearing obstacles for him and Vincent, the madman, taking on everything for him.
But Avery, had to bear everything alone from birth and still had to face it all alone in the end.
