Chapter 626 Ben Said Ethan was Missing.

In San Francisco, at 3 a.m., Jasmine rushed back to an empty, eerily quiet house.

"Where did he go?" Jasmine's voice was rough as she demanded the truth from Ben.

Ben looked down. "Ms. Cunningham..."

"Spit it out," Jasmine said, her body stiff as she sat on the sofa.

"He's missing," Ben finally said. The news was that Ethan had vanished.

No one knew why.

Jasmine was barely holding it together, gripping her clothes tightly, trying to stay calm. "Why?"

"Mr. Russell said Howard took Casey to threaten Ethan. When Ethan went to rescue him, he disappeared with Howard. But missing doesn't mean dead; there's still hope." Ben couldn't meet Jasmine's eyes.

Saying Ethan was missing was Brandon's idea, worried Jasmine couldn't handle the truth.

In reality, Ethan had been in an accident. When the boat exploded, he shielded Casey. Casey was fine, but Ethan was seriously hurt. After the police rescued him, he fell into a coma and was in critical condition.

Whether he'd make it was still unknown.

"The police are on it. You can't fall apart now." Seeing Jasmine's state, Ben squatted nervously in front of her. "You're Yasmine Cunningham now, not just Jasmine. You're Mrs. Douglas, Justin and Joe's mom, and you're carrying Mr. Douglas's child."

Jasmine looked at Ben numbly, then down at her belly, smiling bitterly. This baby really came at the worst time.

If it weren't for the baby, she might not be able to hold on.

Jasmine said, "I need to see Brandon."

Ben replied, "He's still busy with Mr. Douglas's matters."

Jasmine took a deep breath. Even if Ben and Brandon were hiding things, she knew Ethan's situation must be serious.

"I just need to know if he's dead or alive." Jasmine used her last bit of strength to stand up.

As long as he was alive, even if he had just one breath left, she would hold on to him.

"He'll be fine," Ben said, clenching his hands, not daring to say more.

Outside the door, Tom slapped himself, cursing with red eyes.

Suddenly, Ben shouted, and Jasmine fainted. "Ms. Cunningham! Ms. Cunningham!"

"Jasmine!" Tom instinctively called out her name, rushed in, picked her up, and ran out. "To the hospital, hurry, get the car!"

Amelia woke up in a dim ward at Capital Hospital, with only Nathaniel there.

"Nathaniel," Amelia's voice was rough.

Nathaniel quickly got up and turned on the light. "Feeling better? The doctor said..."

Nathaniel frowned. "You aborted the baby? Didn't you say you wanted to keep it? Was it your decision, or did Nolan force you?"

Amelia was silent and shook her head.

Nathaniel's face darkened. "Drink some warm water and rest."

"Thanks." Amelia held the cup, took a sip, and spoke softly, "Nathaniel, my dad..."

He said, "Your dad's matters are handled. Your mom said no funeral. After cremation, your brother took the ashes."

Amelia nodded. They had taken the $100,000 she borrowed. It wasn't enough for a burial plot, but it was enough for the funeral. She had done her best.

"Rest up. I'll be back soon." Nathaniel's face was grim; he was going to find Nolan.

The doc had told Nathaniel that after Amelia's abortion, she had a massive hemorrhage and uterine perforation, almost losing her uterus. Plus, the damage made it super hard for her to have kids in the future.

"Nathaniel, where are you going?" Amelia asked, a bit scared.

"I'll be back soon. Just rest up. The doc said you need to stay here for observation and recovery. Don't worry about the bills; I got it covered." Nathaniel, not wanting Amelia to feel burdened, added, "If you don't want to owe me, get better soon and come work as my assistant. I need one."

Amelia, with red eyes, nodded. "Okay."

"Did Nolan force you to abort the baby?" Nathaniel asked again at the door.

Amelia gripped the blanket tightly and shook her head. "I wanted to do it myself. I don't want any ties to him."

"Nolan's not the right guy. It's better to forget him." Nathaniel could see Amelia liked Nolan.

But with Nolan's family background, he'd never marry Amelia.

Amelia nodded, tiredly lying on the bed, curling up and closing her eyes tightly.

She hoped never to wake up.

Nathaniel's eyes flashed with pain as he turned and left.

He was going to find Nolan and ask why he treated Amelia this way. Even if Lawrence was guilty, what did it have to do with Amelia?

That baby was Nolan's. Even animals protect their young. Nolan had made it hard for Amelia to have kids in the future, almost costing her life. Was he even human?

Bastard! Amelia was only in her twenties. Her life had just begun, but Nolan had personally destroyed it.

Jasmine fainted from extreme emotions and slept for an entire day and night in the ward.

When she woke up, it was already the morning of the third day.

"Ethan," Jasmine called out his name.

Cordelia, who had come to the hospital upon hearing the news, had been watching over Jasmine, not closing her eyes, taking care of her. She didn't trust anyone else.

"Jasmine, Mom's here." Cordelia nervously held Jasmine's hand.

Jasmine's eyes reddened. "Mom, where's Ethan?"

Cordelia's eyes reddened, and she lowered her head in silence.

"Where's Ethan?" Jasmine cried and asked.

"Ethan's a good guy. He'll be fine." Cordelia could only try to comfort her.

Jasmine closed her eyes, tears rolling out. She had been asleep for so long; there should have been news by now.

"Madam, Connor is here." Tom knocked outside the door. "Let Jasmine talk to him."

Connor was afraid Jasmine wouldn't hold on.

Cordelia nodded. "Okay."

Only Connor and Jasmine were left in the room, and neither spoke first.

"Are you happy now?" Jasmine finally spoke first. "Ethan's in trouble, and you're happy, right?"

Connor was silent, not saying a word.

"I don't want to see you. Get out." Jasmine told Connor to leave.

Connor finally spoke, "Ethan's in trouble. The Douglas Group was already in chaos because of Howard's interference, and now, those who can't stay calm are even more on edge. When Claire found out about Howard and Ethan's issues, she celebrated and immediately moved into the Douglas Group, teaming up with the board to seize Howard and Ethan's shares and inheritance. She's even setting her sights on the Raymond Group. If you keep being sorrowful, Claire is going to be the happiest person around."

Connor didn't say comforting words. He just tried to make her pull herself together.
