Chapter 841 Fiona Plans to Run Away with the Child
Hestia sighed, "Damn capitalism."
Seeing Hestia compromise, Primrose snorted coldly and didn't explain her plan to marry into the Cunningham family. This way, as long as one of the three sons of the Cunningham family remained unmarried, she could dominate the Cunningham Group.
Feeling a bit depressed again, Hestia lay on the table, looking at her phone. "Do ordinary people have to be oppressed by power all their lives?"
"Hestia? The HR manager wants to see you." Just as she was about to message Edward to distract herself, someone from HR came looking for her, and it didn't seem like a friendly visit.
Hestia quickly got up, grabbed her phone, and walked out. She wondered why HR was looking for her.
Primrose saw the HR person coming and smirked, guessing that HR was going to persuade Hestia to leave early.
Once Hestia was out of the way, she had nothing to worry about.
Capital Hospital.
Ryan accompanied Fiona for a check-up and instinctively looked around. "It was strange, Nolan hasn't caused any trouble recently."
"Nolan might have thought it throught," Fiona whispered.
Ryan raised an eyebrow."I heard from Jasmine that he's sick and went to Sunrise City to recuperate. He was probably triggered by me that day," Fiona said, feeling a bit guilty.
"Joining a monastery might be good for him. After all, no woman can tolerate his temper, right?" Ryan muttered.
"Nolan will change. He went to Sunrise City to chase after his wife," Fiona mumbled, sitting down to wait for the results.
"You sit here, I'll go check." Ryan went to get the results and spoke with the obstetrician.
"Can this child be kept?" Fiona asked nervously when Ryan returned.
Her emotions were complicated, unsure whether to keep the child.
"That's up to you," Ryan said seriously, looking at Fiona. "Your body is perfectly fine to have this child, but it's your choice whether to keep it or not."
If Fiona wanted an abortion, he would support her.
"If the child is healthy..." Fiona whispered, thinking it might be okay to keep it.
Ryan had good genes—handsome, tall, well-educated. Such genes would be hard to find even with IVF.
She had no plans to marry, and having a child without Ryan wasn't bad either.
Besides, Ryan wasn't the clingy type, which was nice.
Fiona comforted herself and looked up at Ryan. "Can this child be mine alone? Would you please not argue with me for it?"
Ryan was stunned and sighed. He wanted to take responsibility for Fiona, but she was determined to distance herself from him.
"Fiona, you're unmarried and pregnant. People will talk. To avoid this, I can marry you first, and after the child is born, we can divorce, saying we had irreconcilable differences. The child's custody will be yours. How about that?" Ryan coaxed softly.
He planned to marry her first and deal with the divorce later.
He didn't believe he couldn't make her fall for him.
He would spoil her so much that she couldn't live without him, and then they wouldn't divorce.
Ryan's plan was ideal, but Fiona wasn't foolish.
She shook her head. "No, thanks."
She could go abroad, where no one knew her.
She had decided that if the child was healthy, she would go abroad to give birth and settle there.
She had no one to miss in Silverlight City, and with a mother like Sophia, she always felt guilty towards the Cunningham family and Cordelia. She couldn't get over it.
She wanted to leave.
Ryan looked at Fiona, unsure how to change her mind without pushing too hard. "The baby and you are all healtht. Let's go home."
He reached out to hold her hand.
Fiona glanced at Ryan and stood up on her own.
She couldn't trouble him too much, it wouldn't be fair to him.
"I'm pregnant, so you'll have to take care of the cat," Fiona didn't tell Ryan about her plan to go abroad. She had decided to leave quietly.
She wanted to live with her child in a vast world.
"Okay, I'll take good care of it," Ryan nodded, feeling uneasy, thinking he might lose her, but also believing she wouldn't leave before giving birth.
But he didn't know that Fiona had already arranged everything abroad.
Muskow.
Kavi was temporarily detained by the Silverlight City police and wouldn't be released until the investigation was complete. This gave Steven time to win over and reassure the Hughes Group and the Hughes family, while gradually dismantling Kavi's influence and his illegal operations bit by bit.
"Mr. Hughes, it's been handled," the assistant reported to Steven in the office.
Steven nodded and looked at the door. "Where's Richard? Left early? Why is he so unprofessional today?"
Steven had gotten used to having Richard as his bodyguard. Not seeing him made him feel a bit insecure.
During this time, Steven had figured out Richard's personality—rigid, persistent, foolish, and reckless.
Steven found Richard devoid of any charm and couldn't understand why Betty liked him.
But one thing was certain, Richard was very disciplinedand very resistant to other women.
In Aurora Peninsula, when the local boss sent women to him, he avoided them like the plague.
"Mr. Hughes, didn't Richard tell you?" The assistant looked surprised and a bit nervous.
Steven frowned. "Tell me what?"
"His contract ends today. He's already resigned," the assistant said softly, testing the waters.
Steven was stunned and checked his phone's notes. Three months had passed so quickly? Wasn't there still three days left?
Then he remembered he had waived three days for Richard because of a bet or something.
Looking back, he felt he had been foolish.
"Call him and tell him to come back. We'll renew the contract, and he can name his price," Steven said through gritted teeth. Richard had left so decisively without even a word, clearly wanting to avoid him, showing no sentiment.
For some reason, Steven felt angry.
After all this time together, having gone through death, there should be some bond.
Yet Richard was so heartless.
The assistant, anticipating this outcome, took out his phone and called Richard secretly.
"Richard... Mr. Hughes wants to renew the contract, he said you can name your price..."
"Oh, I see..."
"Okay, I'll tell Mr. Hughes."
The assistant was on the phone, and Steven was eavesdropping.
When the assistant hung up, Steven asked, "What did he say? How much does he want?"
"Richard said he's going home to take over the family business and can't stay with you," the assistant sighed.
Steven laughed. Take over the family business? Go back to farming? Richard probably didn't even have land to farm back home.
