Chapter 730 Aleah Wants to Perish Together with Richard

Lily cried for a long time before suddenly stopping. "Yeah, you understand everything. You know I can't turn back because I'm not like you. I don't have a powerful family background, the Cunningham family, three brothers, or Ethan."

"My grandfather's sick with no one to take care of him. I have no family. Sophia threatens and uses me, and those men toy with me. I finally met a guy, and he turned out to be a scumbag like Xavier, who ruined me! I hate him. I've always hated him. I wish he were dead. Well, he's dead now. Why can't I use everything he had? Why not?"

Lily screamed at Jasmine with all her might.

"Do you think everyone is like you? You were the princess of the Wilson family for the first twenty-one years, with Evan doting on you and Daniel protecting you! You couldn't bear the few years of hardship you went through? If it were me, what would that be?" Lily shouted sharply.

"But you? Depression, suicide, as fragile as glass! Yet you were lucky. Look, you met Ethan, a good man we can't find in this circle! How many women are as lucky as you, Yasmine?"

Lily admitted she was jealous of Jasmine, but she had never thought of hurting her before.

"You once said we were kindred spirits, that we were from the same world, that we had both experienced pain and come from the abyss." Lily laughed. "Yasmine, we were both in the abyss. But one day, your savior pulled you out. Now, I'm the only one left in the abyss. Why can't I be ruthless? I don't have your luck. I'm the opposite of you in the mirror. If I don't strive, how will I survive?"

Who could save her? She didn't have Ethan; she only had herself.

She had to rely on herself to step out, to climb out. What was wrong with that?

"Lily, you're just too greedy." Jasmine took a deep breath and lowered her head. "Emily died because she wasn't greedy enough."

The tears burned hotly. Jasmine had never wished more than at this moment that Emily had been a greedy person.

If Emily had been greedy enough, she could have stayed alive by Lily's side.

She wouldn't have died.

"I can't turn back." Lily hung up the phone.

Jasmine lowered her head and threw away the phone in her hand.

The three of them had come to this point, something they had never imagined.

Ethan was right; everyone had their own path to walk.

No one could control another's life.

Jasmine had never denied that meeting Ethan was both Jasmine's misfortune and her luck.

She was lucky enough, luckier than those who were forever trapped in the abyss.

But that wasn't a reason to do evil. Lily was crazy; she was killing people.

There were many ways she could have worked her way out. She could have dealt with Sophia, joined the company, and helped Emily. Together, they could have taken the company further and shared the fruits of their labor.

But now, saying all this seemed meaningless.

When news of Sophia's death came, Betty didn't contact Richard immediately.

As Sophia's son, Richard had to take responsibility for her burial. He didn't hold a funeral because she didn't deserve one.

After burying her in their hometown, he hurried back, eager to see Betty.

It was drizzling and gloomy. Despite Betty's spacious villa, it felt cozy to Richard. He thought back to when he first met Betty and couldn't help but laugh. She had tried every trick to seduce him, but he had remained unmoved.

With a helpless smile, Richard was about to drive into the yard when he saw a figure at the gate. The rain was getting heavier, and he frowned, finally recognizing the person as Aleah.

She was drenched, wearing a white dress, and looked at Richard nervously. "Richard."

She couldn't find Richard, and Sophia was dead. Aleah had realized that Richard might have been pretending all along, that he hadn't lost his memory and had already regained it.

Aleah even knew to come to Betty's place to find Richard, but she still held onto hope. "Richard, I've already informed my family about our wedding. Come home with me. My parents want to meet you."

Richard frowned, looking at Aleah. "I thought you were smart."

Aleah panicked, crying as she stepped forward to hug Richard.

Richard stepped back to avoid her. "Aleah, there's no chance for us anymore, and you know it."

Aleah shook her head, crying. "Richard, you said you would always love me. Why are you going back on your word? Why?"

Richard took a deep breath. "Why don't you ever ask yourself what you've done, how you've acted?"

"Why Betty? What's so good about her?" Aleah cried, asking Richard.

Richard glanced into the yard. Betty, knowing Richard was back, had come out with an umbrella but saw Aleah.

"She has a bad temper, a spoiled princess attitude, and is a bit eccentric. She's not as gentle as you appear to be, not my type." Richard said, looking at Betty and then speaking again, "The first time we met, she flirted with me. I thought she was too forward and that I'd never like someone like that."

"She often used money to try to control me, like it could solve everything. I hated that rich person mindset and even avoided her."

"But later, I realized she wasn't what she seemed. Despite her spoiled princess attitude, she was kind-hearted. My opinion of her changed."

"I ended up eating my words. I said I wouldn't like her, but I had already fallen for her. I love her. I even started to see her willfulness as a unique trait. I pampered and protected her, wanting her to stay true to herself. She is who she is, and I love her without needing a reason."

Aleah stood in the rain, desperate, taking a step back. "What about me? What do I count for? What about the love you once said you had for me?"

"That's the past." Richard frowned, clearly losing patience.

Aleah suddenly laughed. "Richard, you ruined me. You'll regret this."

"You ruined yourself. Look in the mirror and see for yourself. Haven't you always been the one regretting?" Richard thought Aleah was crazy and now only felt disgust for her.

"Aleah, because of the past feelings, I've been lenient with you. I know you won't give up easily, and I haven't left you any chances because you don't deserve it." Richard's voice was low, and he was drenched in the rain, looking at the approaching police car.

He had called the police before coming back, guessing that Aleah would come looking for him.

Aleah panicked, turning around and pulling something out, but Richard stopped her and pinned her against the wall.

In Aleah's bag was a timed bomb.

"Richard, then let's die together. If I can't have you, no one else will!"
