Chapter 781 Fiona is Pregnant
Betty looked at Priya and Tara and sneered. "From childhood to now, you have treated me like a commodity. Have you ever truly seen me as your daughter?"
She felt she was talking too much today, and saying these things to them was like words falling on deaf ears.
When she was young, she yearned for parental love, thinking that if she worked hard enough, her parents would surely like her.
They would surely cherish her like other parents cherish their children.
But they always raised her in a very proper and disciplined manner.
It wasn't bad, but she couldn't feel much love.
Betty knew that from the day she became an adult, she had become an important pawn in the family's arranged marriages.
In families like theirs, parents would never allow their daughters to marry just anyone casually.
That's why Betty rebelled.
When she insisted on marrying Richard, she never considered Richard's background.
"From childhood to now, I have provided for you so much, and this is how you repay us? You insisted on being with Richard, and we disagreed, but you went behind our backs and got married. Get a divorce immediately!" Tara said angrily.
Previously, when Steven wasn't around, because Betty was the widow of the Hughes family, no one in high society dared to marry her. So, they let her make a mess with Richard.
But now that the perfect son-in-law Steven had returned, how could they tolerate someone like Richard, who had no family background or status?
"Dad, Mom." Richard took a deep breath, wanting to explain that he was Arnold's son.
But Betty stopped him.
It was meaningless. Let them go crazy, it was not the time to strike them down now.
The more they fussed now, the more satisfying it would be to strike them down later.
"Don't call us Dad and Mom. We only recognize Steven as our son-in-law. I advise you to figure out and get out." Priya directly confronted Richard.
Richard clenched his fists and said nothing.
"Ryder, see them out and close the door. If they don't leave, throw them out." Betty said in a low voice.
"Betty, how can you talk to your parents like that? Aren't they doing this for you? Steven has such good conditions, and you don't want him. Instead, you choose a poor man. " Abigai said arrogantly, looking at Richard with disdain.
Betty looked at Abigai and laughed. "You've cheated so many times. Instead of dealing with your own issues at home, you have time to meddle in our family's affairs?"
Abigai's face turned white with anger. "Betty!"
"Get out!" Betty had the bodyguards escort them out.
They refused to leave and continued to curse. The bodyguards cleared the place and threw them out, making them look very embarrassed.
Betty held Richard's hand, her lips curling up. "Don't worry. My dad is currently negotiating a big project with the Sanders family. If they knew you were Arnold's son, they might even kneel and beg you, but it's meaningless and unnecessary.."
Betty didn't want Richard to feel wronged or force himself to accept an identity he didn't want.
"We're fine as we are now, knowing everything and watching these people put on a show." Betty pushed Richard onto the sofa, sat on his lap, and hugged him tightly.
Since Richard returned, Betty had been much calmer, no longer going crazy like before.
She hugged Richard, quietly listening to his heartbeat. "Richard, if you die, I will definitely die with you."
Betty had thought that if Richard didn't come back, she would die too.
She didn't care about anything expect him.
Richard rubbed Betty's head. "I won't die."
Then Betty's phone rang.
Reluctantly, she answered the call.
"Kavi has come to Silverlight City." On the other end of the line was Brade.
Betty and Brade had cooperated to get Brade back to Kavi's side, giving him leverage against Steven.
But now, more than dealing with Steven, Betty wanted to see the Hughes family entangle with each other.
"They actually lured him out." Betty laughed.
As soon as Mark died, Kavi couldn't wait to come to Silverlight City? What was he afraid of?
With a cold snort, Betty pinched Richard's chin and tossed the phone aside. "Did Mark reveal any valuable evidence before he died?"
Otherwise, he died in vain?
"Not clear yet." Richard shook his head.
That was police confidential information, and he couldn't say.
Before Mark died, he said he left something in a safety deposit box at Muskow Bank for Lisa, enough for her to live well for the rest of her life.
But whether there was evidence against Kavi in that safety deposit box was unknown.
"Kavi is coming to Silverlight City. Steven should be too busy to bother with us." Betty said smugly, leaning on Richard's shoulder. "Now we can focus on dealing with the opportunistic people in my family."
Capital Hospital.
Ryan had just finished work when he saw a figure squatting next to his car.
"What are you doing here?" Ryan was a bit surprised.
Fiona took off her sunglasses, looked around cautiously, and spoke softly. "Nolan is hunting me."
Ryan sighed. "Are you that afraid of him?"
"How dare you say that? If you hadn't lost control and had unprotected sex, would I be sneaking around like a thief now?" Fiona said through gritted teeth.
Although she had retired from the entertainment industry, she had still been part of it.
"Did you make the appointment?" Fiona asked softly, seemingly indifferent.
She had asked Ryan to help her schedule a painless abortion.
Ryan frowned and said nothing, probably because he had never seen someone like Fiona.
"Let me tell you, we are just roommates, just taking care of the cat together. I will never cross the line, so you don't have to worry about me clinging to you." After getting into the car, she repeatedly assured Ryan.
Ryan said nothing, fastening Fiona's seatbelt with a grim face.
Fiona looked at Ryan nervously, he was too close.
"We've already had sex. Why are you nervous about fastening a seatbelt?" Ryan snorted and asked.
"Dr. Ryan, be a bit cooler. Let's not mention that incident. Let's just consider it a drunken one-night stand and forget about it." Fiona covered her face, feeling too embarrassed.
That night, they had both been drinking, and who knew that the slight intoxication would make them lose control?
She felt unloved and pitiful, and in her tears, she had sex with Ryan.
She was drunk, but what about Ryan? Was his alcohol tolerance that bad?
Having unprotected sex was one thing, but the key was that Ryan said he wanted to take responsibility the next day.
That was terrifying.
She had just recovered abroad six months ago. Although her body had recovered well, who knew how many more years she could live?
She didn't want to waste her youth like this.
"Have you ever thought about giving birth tothis child?" Ryan asked in a low voice.
Fiona was stunned for a moment, looking down at her belly. "Are you kidding? Why would I have a child? Am I crazy?"
"Besides, I want to live a few more years." Fiona sighed.
Who would have thought that a night of indulgence would result in pregnancy?
What if Nolan found out?
