Chapter 207 A Good Husband Always Praises His Wife

At Ethan's residence, Jasmine was busy preparing breakfast in the kitchen while Ethan, having just dropped Justin off at school, leaned against the dining table, taking a moment to hydrate.

Erin had indeed stirred up trouble; the kindergarten was now in the midst of replacing its principal and undergoing reform, all due to allegations of corruption and bribery among the principal and certain teachers.

Ethan's phone buzzed, indicating a call from HR's Daria.

"Mr. Ethan..." Daria sounded anxious, likely reaching out to warn him. "Jasmine's mother is causing a scene at the office, with the chairman and board members present, suggesting Jasmine be fired..."

"Jasmine is under my purview. All matters regarding her employment are my decision alone," Ethan asserted firmly. "But... What about Jasmine's mom causing a scene all the time? This can't go on," Daria expressed her concern.

Ethan's brow furrowed with frustration. What was May's motive? Was she heartless or simply malicious? After all, Jasmine was her daughter. Was she deliberately trying to sabotage her own child?

"You don't need to worry about this anymore." Ethan hung up and stepped onto the balcony to call Richard. "I'll be at the office in forty minutes. Your mom has been causing trouble there since early morning. Can you handle her? Make sure Jasmine doesn't find out."

Even over the phone, Ethan could sense Richard's anger. "She took money from Howard and now she's making a scene at the office front door?" Richard's voice quivered with rage.

"Is Jasmine really her biological daughter?" Ethan questioned, skeptical of May's intentions.

"I've had my doubts, but I know my mom had a daughter. Maybe she wasn't raised by her side... I'll handle it right away," Richard assured, ending the call promptly.

At Ryan's Diner, Erin, sipping her coffee through her face mask, noticed Richard's distraction. "What's the problem?" she inquired, lifting her mask slightly.

Richard, with a tinge of regret, explained, "Boss, there's a family issue I need to deal with... Can I take some time off?"

Erin leaned back, curious. "What happened?"

Richard hesitated to share the details, wary of airing his family's issues in public.

"Not telling? Then forget it. No time off... unless you take me with you," Erin retorted with a snort, refusing to let Richard off the hook.

"I'm in a bit of a rush..." Richard started anxiously, reluctant to expose Erin to his mother's erratic behavior.

"No problem! I'll drive!" Erin insisted cheerfully, already preparing to accompany him. She swiftly changed clothes, grabbed her mask and the car keys, ready to go.

With her face mask on, Erin didn't even bother washing her face, hastily putting on a sun hat before jumping into the car. "You're in a hurry, right? Let's go!"

Despite his hesitation, Richard eventually relented with a sigh. "Get out, I'll drive."

Erin scoffed as Richard criticized her driving skills. "I drive pretty well, you know."

"You do, but I prefer staying alive," Richard responded helplessly.

Erin playfully leaned close to Richard, causing him to instinctively step back. However, her misstep led to her falling into his arms.

Caught off guard, Richard found himself embracing her involuntarily.

Erin laughed mischievously. "You initiated it, so you've got to take responsibility now."

Richard found himself pondering Erin's reaction. He hoped that exposing her to his family's situation, particularly his mother's behavior, would prompt her to keep her distance from him.
"What's happened?" Erin inquired as they made their way.

"My mom... she got out of jail, took Howard's money, wants to marry off my sister, and is now causing a scene outside Stellar Enterprises," Richard explained, his weariness evident in his voice.

He was uncertain about confronting his mother regarding her actions.

Erin was momentarily taken aback, looking at Richard. She had delved into his family background before, but the revelation of his mother's behavior surprised her.

However, upon reflection, it seemed fitting. As the former nanny of the Wilson family, May had demonstrated a propensity for selfish actions, such as swapping her own daughter for the Wilsons' for personal gain. The depth of her selfishness was astounding.

At Ethan's home, after finishing breakfast, Jasmine checked her phone and noticed a video posted by a coworker from Colton Inc. in their group chat, buzzing with activity. They were discussing a disturbance caused by someone—Jasmine's mother.

Feeling apprehensive, Jasmine reluctantly clicked on the video. There, she saw her mother, May, causing a scene alongside several relatives from the Shaw family, including her aunt.

Jasmine's nerves jolted, and she hurriedly left the bathroom, only to find Ethan already dressed and ready to leave.

"Mr. Ethan..." Jasmine's voice faltered. "Where are you going?"

"I need to stop by the office. Just wait for me here," Ethan said, approaching Jasmine and gesturing to his tie. "Do you like the color?"

"It's nice..."

Since Jasmine moved in with Ethan, he often sought her opinion on various matters around the house, whether big or small. He would adjust things according to her preferences, pretending not to know.

Ethan's constant compliments and acknowledgment of her taste greatly boosted Jasmine's confidence, making her feel valued.

With tearful eyes, Jasmine looked down. "Mr. Ethan... did my mom cause trouble at the company?"

Ethan was aware of the situation.

"I'll take care of it. Stay out of it," Ethan advised, wanting to shield Jasmine from any confrontation.

Understanding that her presence might exacerbate the situation, Jasmine nodded in agreement.

"What do you want to do about May... since she's your mother?" Ethan asked, seeking Jasmine's input on how to handle the situation delicately.

Despite the family tie, Ethan was willing to respect Jasmine's wishes.

"Just send her away..." Jasmine replied uncertainly, conflicted about her feelings towards her own mother.

"Wait for me at home. What would you like for dinner? I'll have the butler prepare it," Ethan said, affectionately tousling Jasmine's hair and kissing her forehead.

"Please come back soon," Jasmine said anxiously, watching Ethan as he left.

Apart from expressing her desire for his return, she didn't know what else to say.

"I want your fried chicken; it's even better than what the chef makes. You've spoiled my taste buds," Ethan remarked, giving Jasmine's hand a playful squeeze before departing.

Jasmine's heart raced with gratitude. Ethan's appreciation of her cooking skills made her feel valued and secure in their relationship.

And hearing compliments from him always warmed her heart, reinforcing her sense of self-worth.
