Chapter 486 Evan Doesn't Want Evelina to Divorce

Karen was taken aback and frowned at Evelina. "He's my son, this is our family matter!"

"Family matter?" Evelina sneered. "Evan's an adult now; he doesn't need anyone controlling him, especially not you."

Karen shook off Evelina's arm and snapped, "Even if he's an adult, he's still my son. I gave birth to him. But you, you will never have your own child."

Evelina's face darkened, and her fingers clenched.

"You have your child, but he doesn't want to call you 'Mom,' even hates you. That's even more pathetic." Evan stood up, leaning on the bedside table, and moved Evelina behind him, glaring at Karen. "I don't want to see you right now. If you don't leave, I'll call the police for illegal detention and delaying my recovery, which could disable my right leg."

Karen looked at Evan in disbelief, furious, but then she seemed to think of something and snorted with a smile. "No matter how much you act out, you're still my son. Rest well. Mom will come to see you tomorrow."

As Karen left, Evan's tightly clenched hands slowly relaxed. "Sorry, Auntie, I didn't know she would come."

Evan felt uneasy, worried Evelina might think he was trying to curry favor with her for the Everhart family inheritance.

"It has nothing to do with you," Evelina said. Karen's thoughts didn't represent Evan, but she still wouldn't let her guard down.

In three months, she would divorce Alex. She'd only take what was hers. Alex could give his things to whoever he wanted.

"I made you something delicious." Evelina brought Evan his favorite pizza and roasted pork ribs.

Evan looked at the food in surprise, his eyes reddening with excitement. "It's my favorite."

Evelina smiled and sighed as she looked at Evan.

What a good kid. It would have been great if she had raised him from a young age.

She was silent for a moment, feeling her thoughts were unrealistic.

But thinking carefully, if Karen had given Evan to Alex after she gave birth to him, and she had known about it, she probably would have accepted the child and raised him.

Unfortunately, there were no ifs, and time didn't go back.

"The doctor said you need to take good care of your leg. The surgical wound will take some time to heal, and during this period, you must take good care of yourself." Evelina pointed to the bed, urging Evan to sit down.

Evan obediently sat down, looking very well-behaved.

Evelina smiled with satisfaction. "Take good care of your external injuries, and then do proper rehab. Although it will have a small impact on your future life, as long as you don't engage in strenuous activities, it won't affect you too much."

Evan remained silent, not saying a word.

Evelina knew about Evan's daily life. He liked to exercise, often going to the gym, playing basketball with friends, and running every day.

But now, he might even have trouble walking in the future.

Evan didn't speak, quietly eating with a fork.

Evelina didn't say much either, opening the curtains in the ward to let him get some sunlight.

"Auntie." Evan instinctively closed his eyes, probably because he hadn't seen the sun for a long time. "This afternoon, I am being discharged."

He wanted to leave the hospital.

He didn't want to see Karen anymore.

Karen would come back, and Evan was very clear about Karen's intentions.

She wanted to use him against Alex and Evelina to create a rift and make them divorce deliberately.

He didn't want them to divorce.

He also didn't want to be the reason for a rift between Evelina and Alex.

"Do you want to go home to recover?" Evelina asked.

Evan nodded. "She'll definitely come looking for me again. I don't want to see her."

Evelina understood.

"Can I stay with you guys? Just for three months." Evan mustered a lot of courage, then quickly added, "If it's inconvenient..."

"No," Evelina smiled. "It's just that Alex and I are currently separated."

She wasn't sure if Evan wanted to stay with Alex or her.

"Can we live together?" Evan looked up with reddened eyes. He had overheard Evelina and Alex's conversation about their impending divorce.

He didn't want them to divorce. Maybe if they lived together again, their feelings would rekindle, and they wouldn't want to split up.

Evelina hesitated, thinking about her relationship with Alex, which had lasted over twenty years. Since they were going to separate anyway, it wouldn't hurt to get along for another three months.

"Okay, I'll discuss it with your dad," Evelina agreed.

"No need to discuss; it's up to you," Alex said excitedly from the door, giving Evan a thumbs-up.

He knew Evan was helping him get a chance.

Evelina glanced at Alex, her expression indifferent. "Then you handle the discharge procedures, have the driver come to pick us up, and I'll help Evan pack his things. We'll leave after eating."

"Alright! I'll go right away." Alex turned excitedly to handle the discharge procedures, but in his excitement, he bumped into the wall with a thud.

He ran out of the ward in a daze, still happy that Evelina had finally agreed to come home with him.

Evan watched Alex's reaction, finding it amusing but also feeling a sense of sadness.

They clearly loved each other so much, from having nothing to now living a prosperous life, but they were still going to part ways. It was too sad.

He didn't want them to separate because of him.

"Auntie, if I didn't exist, would you and he still separate?" Evan asked.

Evelina didn't answer.

Even without Evan, Alex had repeatedly crossed her bottom line for Karen, and she would have considered separating from Alex.

Evan was just the catalyst for this separation.

Indeed, Karen had won. She won by giving Alex a child.

And she had nothing.

"After spending some time together, I roughly understand his character. I believe you know him better than I do, Auntie," Evan said.

Alex was someone who valued relationships deeply.

He loved Evelina very much, but he had handled the matter with Karen poorly.

There shouldn't be too many secrets and barriers between a couple.

Evan also understood that Evelina wasn't completely unwilling to give Alex a chance. Regarding Alex's attitude towards Karen, as long as Alex didn't make the same mistake again, she should be able to accept it. After all, they had been together for more than twenty years.

Evan knew that his existence was the fundamental reason Evelina couldn't continue to accept Alex.

"For these three months, let's get along well and not mention anything else." Evelina walked over and ruffled Evan's hair. "Although you're not a child anymore, I hope you can be carefree. Don't think about those unhappy things. For these three months, try to relax and not think about anything."
