Chapter 549 Amelia Is Truly Homeless

Nolan sat in the car, leaning back in silence for a long time.

He wasn't sure what was right or wrong, but he was always protective. Fiona, his sister, almost got killed. He couldn't just ignore that.

Then Amelia came into the picture.

In the end, he turned a blind eye to her and drove off.

In the alley, Amelia cried as she walked back to her rented apartment. They'd sold everything and could only afford this place.

But she stood downstairs, scared to face her mom's tearful questions. She didn't know what to say.

Not only did she not solve anything, but she was also pregnant with Nolan's child.

While in the car, Amelia wanted to tell Nolan about the baby more than once.

But she didn't have the courage.

In Nolan's eyes, she was already like a beggar. If she told him she was pregnant, he'd think she was trying to trap him.

"Hey, pretty girl, all alone?"

"Wow, this girl is really pretty."

Willow Lane was a rough area in Silverlight City, practically a slum.

It was especially chaotic at night.

Amelia lowered her head in fear and quickened her pace.

A small gang of thugs followed her, scaring her into walking even faster.

"Mom, open the door, Mom?"

The houses in the demolition area had old-fashioned security doors that couldn't be opened from the outside if locked from the inside.

Amelia's voice was tearful as she asked her mom to open the door.

It was her brother, Lucas Carter, who opened the door.

"Why are you back so late? Where were you yesterday?" Lucas asked, annoyed.

Amelia snorted, not wanting to deal with her foolish brother.

He was just a spoiled child.

Lucas was a bit unhappy. "Amelia, you're out with men every day, and look at the state of our home."

Amelia ignored him.

Lucas said angrily, "Mom, look at her attitude. She's out eating well every day and doesn't care about us."

Amelia didn't want to deal with him and headed straight to her room.

"Amelia, we have no money for food. Could you do something about it? Living in this dump, aren't you ashamed? You made us sell everything, even the house, but you won't sell your stuff."

Lucas sat on the couch, looking at Amelia. "I sold your necklace. Someone offered two million dollars for it, enough for us to move to a better place."

Amelia froze and turned to look at Lucas. "What did you say?"

Staring at Lucas in shock, Amelia panicked and ran to her room. The box she had hidden under the bed was empty.

Amelia knelt on the floor, trembling all over. She lost control and got up, screaming at Lucas, "Lucas, you had no right to sell my necklace. You bastard, you had no right! That was Grandma's gift to me!"

Amelia found solace in her grandmother's genuine love, a rare comfort in the Carter family where her brother was always favored.

When she was young, Lawrence said having a daughter was bad for his business and sent her to the countryside. She grew up with her grandmother.

That was the only keepsake her grandmother left her.

"Give it back to me, give it back!" Amelia cried hysterically, rushing to hit Lucas.

Lucas, a bit impatient, pushed Amelia away. "What's wrong with you? The family's in this state, and your stuff belongs to the Carter family. You're too selfish."

Amelia fell to the ground, her face pale with pain. "Lucas, you bastard!"

Amelia trembled, shouting, and looked back at her mom, who sat silently on the couch.

"Mom, you let him sell my necklace. You know what it means to me! Mom, this is too much."

Amelia cried, feeling wronged.

Caitlyn's face looked troubled, and she softly coaxed, "Amelia, our family is struggling. Understand your brother; he still needs to continue his education, and that school costs a lot. Your dad's situation..."

Caitlyn started crying as she spoke.

"Amelia, you have to save your dad. He's your father."

Amelia sat on the ground in despair, staring at her hands.

At that moment, she felt abandoned by the whole world. "Dad brought this on himself. He's an adult; he has to face the consequences! Even if he gets the death penalty, he deserves it! Do you know he hurt minors? He deserves to die!"

Caitlyn also broke down. "Amelia, how can you talk about your father like that? He didn't force that girl.!"

"She was just a few months away from turning 18 when she was with my dad. Whether she was willing or not, my dad is a bastard!" Amelia shouted, losing control.

If Lawrence hadn't been so bad, Nolan wouldn't have been pushed to this extent.

"Shut up!" Caitlyn shouted angrily. "Amelia, he's your father. Those people were willing. Your father was framed!"

"Amelia, Mom went to beg Louis today. Louis said he's willing to help the Carter family if you agree."

Caitlyn hesitated, nervously clenching her hands. "Amelia, can you make a sacrifice and help your dad?"

Amelia looked at Caitlyn in disbelief. Louis wanted to kill her, and her mom actually went to beg Louis.

"What did he say?" Amelia asked.

"He said if you stay with him for six months, he'll agree."

Amelia couldn't believe her ears.

This was her biological mother. She was once Louis's fiancée, and it was Louis who cheated! Now, she was asking her to go to Louis and be his mistress.

Amelia felt like she was being sent to her death.

But such words came from her mother.

At that moment, Amelia felt an unprecedented despair.

"Amelia, I have no other choice," Caitlyn cried as she spoke.

"What's your problem? Louis said if you stay with him, he'll not only help our family but also buy our current house for us. Are you that valuable?" Lucas said irritably, thinking Amelia was ungrateful.

"Lucas, if you want to stay with him, go ahead." Amelia got up, her eyes red as she looked at Lucas. "Who did you sell my necklace to?"

"What? Can you buy it back?" Lucas said disdainfully. "You didn't hide any money, did you?"

Amelia cried uncontrollably. "Who did you sell my necklace to?"

Lucas snorted. "Treasure Auction House."

Amelia cried as she turned and slammed the door on her way out, knowing she wasn't coming back. She was truly homeless now, with no father, mother, or brother—completely alone.

She couldn't go back to the dorm either. She had no money on her, so she couldn't stay at a hotel.

She really had no choice but to sleep on the streets.

Over the years, she had always been isolated, and because of her personality, she had no friends. She had nowhere to go.

"Hey, pretty girl, are you out again? Need a place to go? Want to hang out with us?"

The same thugs were still on the street, whistling at Amelia.

Amelia ran away quickly, found a secluded corner, and squatted down, hugging herself and crying.

What should she do? She didn't even have money for an abortion.

What should she do?
