Chapter 800 Edward quickly got married to someone else
Silverlight City.
Nolan returned to Silverlight City and threw himself back into his busy work.
Occasionally, he would think of Amelia, but he just hoped she was happy.
"Miss Carter is doing well." The assistant had gotten into the habit of reporting every morning.
Elaine had come to see Nolan a few times, and Nolan had made it clear that he wasn't ready to get married.
Elaine, however, didn't give up and became even more proactive in pursuing him.
"Mr. Cunningham, Miss Long sent flowers again." The assistant said.
Nolan felt a bit helpless. It wasn't that he hadn't been pursued by women before, but Elaine was too high-profile.
He had thought Elaine was a very composed and gentle woman, but she sent flowers to the company every day, making it known to everyone.
Elaine was the daughter of the president of the Silverlight City Chamber of Commerce, and Nolan was the president of the Cunningham Group. Both were prominent figures in business circles. Elaine's actions made it difficult for Nolan to refuse her.
If Nolan continued to refuse, it would be seen as disrespecting the president of the Chamber of Commerce.
Elaine was a very smart woman, adept at using her advantages.
For her to lower her pride and pursue Nolan was already giving him plenty of face.
If Nolan didn't agree, it would be seen as disrespecting the Long family.
"Send the flowers back and buy some other gifts." Nolan rubbed his temples and began to think.
If he had to marry for alliance, Elaine was indeed the most suitable choice.
"What has Edward been up to lately?" Nolan frowned. It seemed like Edward was the only one in the family without a partner. Maybe he could have Edward deliver the gifts to Elaine. If they hit it off, he wouldn't mind giving up his position as president of the Cunningham Group.
The assistant's mouth twitched. "Mr. Edward Cunningham has been going to school every day lately."
"Going to school?" Nolan frowned. What was he doing at school every day instead of working?
"Stanford University invited Mr. Edward Cunningham to be a guest professor. Maybe he got addicted to it." The assistant didn't dare to say more.
He couldn't exactly say that the second heir of the Cunningham family was neglecting the company to chase after a girl at school, could he?
Rumor had it that the girl was from the law department, and the news had spread all over Stanford University.
Nolan rubbed his temples. He couldn't rely on any of them. "I got it."
Silverlight City, Stanford University.
Among the three Cunningham brothers, Edward was considered the most stable. No woman had ever interested him this much.
But this time was an exception.
Previously, when he and Lily pretended to be couple, he had sent Lily back to school and accidentally bumped into a girl.
The girl was from the law department at Stanford University and was interning at the legal department of the Cunningham Group. So they got in touch.
The girl's name was Hestia Sharp, and she didn't know Edward's identity. She only knew that Edward was a guest professor at the school, and he looked quite handsome.
There wasn't any dramatic love story between them. She was hit by Edward's car, so he took her to the hospital, and then they met again at the Cunningham Group.
Hestia thought Edward had poor taste for being interested in her.
She was known for being someone who only studied and didn't know how to dress up.
"Why are you at school today?" Hestia asked as she came out of the dormitory and saw Edward.
He was dressed casually, standing in the sunlight, looking so handsome that it was hard to look away.
"Have you eaten?" Edward smiled and waved the breakfast in his hand.
Hestia remained calm, looked around, and ran up to Edward, lowering her voice. "You shouldn't come to school to find me anymore."
Edward felt a bit hurt. "Why?"
Hestia pushed up her glasses and seriously analyzed, "You attract too much attention. Even though we've known each other for a while and got married quickly, you're still my husband. If someone else takes a liking to you, I'm afraid I won't be able to compete."
Edward laughed. "Oh, you have a point. Should I wear glasses and dress more plainly tomorrow?"
She thought for a moment and looked up at Edward. "Are you saying I dress plainly?"
Edward waved his hand. "Absolutely not. I just came to bring you breakfast."
"I have to go to the Cunningham Group today. My internship is almost over, and I have to go through an evaluation. I'm afraid the Cunningham Group won't keep me." Hestia looked worried and anxiously asked Edward, "Do you think they'll keep me?"
"I asked the manager of the legal department. They said you are excellent, so there shouldn't be a problem." Edward nodded.
"You're just a small employee. What do you know?" Hestia gossiped in Edward's ear. "Out of the ten interns, only three will be kept. Half of them have connections with the higher-ups at the Cunningham Group. Do you think I have a chance?"
Edward looked surprised. Was there anyone with a better connection to the higher-ups at the Cunningham Group than her?
With a helpless smile, Edward whispered, "I don't think so. The Cunningham Group is pretty fair."
Hestia sighed. "See, you're still too naive."
Edward wanted to laugh.
"This society is very complicated," Hestia said earnestly, leading Edward to a place with fewer people.
When there were too many people, girls would stare at Edward and gossip.
She had to admit, Edward was indeed very good-looking.
But when too many people stared at him, Hestia felt insecure and scared.
There wasn't any dramatic love story between her and Edward.
It was just a simple meeting and acquaintance, then they inexplicably got married.
She still remembered the day they got their marriage license.. She was being forced by her family to go on a date.
In the end, she inexplicably went to City Hall with Edward.
Why was that? Hestia herself had forgotten.
Oh, it seemed the date was a jerk who wanted her to stay home and have kids and be a stepmother. She got so mad she splashed water on him.
That day, she wasn't wearing her glasses, the water missed and hit Edward instead.
Then Edward clung to her.
"By the way, aren't you working today?" Hestia asked curiously.
Edward checked the time. "I'm off today..."
Before he could finish, Nolan's call came in.
Edward hung up immediately. How could he let anything interrupt his time with his wife?
But Nolan called again, so Edward hung up again.
"Is something wrong?" Hestia asked curiously.
"No..." Edward was about to suggest they go shopping when Nolan called again.
He gritted his teeth and went aside to answer the call.
"Hello? Nolan, you better have a good reason for calling me." Edward said through gritted teeth.
"Get back here and help me with the company's affairs. I have something urgent to handle in Sunrise City." Nolan's voice sounded anxious.
"Didn't you just get back from Sunrise City?" Edward frowned.
"There is something wrong.." Nolan said.
He had just returned, and the media had exposed Nathaniel and Amelia's relationship. Reporters and Nathaniel's fans were attacking Amelia online, and her bed and breakfast was being affected.
