Chapter 884 Is Edward About to Reveal His Identity?
Edgar's apartment.
Jasmine had Edgar bring Lyanna back to his apartment, which made Edgar very unhappy. "Why did you bring her back?"
"Didn't you notice that someone has been following us since we left?" Jasmine said as she entered the house and searched for the first aid kit.
Edgar fell silent; indeed, someone had been following them.
Rhett was really a madman.
"Rhett wants you to marry Lyanna so that the Murray family can establish a connection with the Cunningham family and then slowly devour the Cunningham family bit by bit," Jasmine correctly guessed that Rhett's plan wasn't just to seize Silverlight City's market; he intended to build it on the Cunningham Group.
Human greed was insatiable.
Finding Edgar's first aid kit, Jasmine had Lyanna sit down.
Lyanna looked at Jasmine nervously. "I... I accidentally fell."
"This place is absolutely safe; it's Edgar's place. There are no surveillance cameras or listening devices, and no Rhett's people, so you don't need to pretend," Jasmine guessed that Lyanna was a very insecure person.
The reason she was so afraid of Rhett was because of his long-term abuse and control.
Hearing Jasmine say there were no surveillance or listening devices here, Lyanna couldn't hold back anymore and started crying.
She had lived in fear all her life.
Her father and brother epitomized the Murray family's flaws, exhibiting extreme control and keeping her under constant surveillance from the day she joined the family.
They were like madmen, even their ways of abusing women were identical.
"Does it hurt?" Jasmine carefully applied medicine to Lyanna's wrist, afraid of hurting her.
Lyanna shook her head. Her wrist didn't hurt, but the unseen places on her body hurt a lot.
She was silent for a long time, then slowly took off her shirt.
"Hey!" Edgar was startled and quickly turned away. What was she doing?
Lyanna slowly revealed her back, covered in shocking bruises.
Jasmine gasped and spoke softly, "All of these were caused by Rhett?"
Lyanna nodded.
"Rhett is a very ambitious person," Jasmine said in a deep voice.
"A year ago, he showed me the profiles and investigation files of the three Cunningham brothers. Nolan is extremely rational and self-centered, hard to deal with. Edward is too smart to handle. Only Edgar seemed like a good-for-nothing rich kid." Lyanna spoke softly.
At this moment, Edgar on the balcony let out a dissatisfied roar. "Good-for-nothing? He has poor judgment. If he messes with me, he's in big trouble!"
"I've actually been observing Edgar for a long time. That day at the bar, the person who provoked us was also arranged by me, just to attract Edgar's attention and create an opportunity."
"I knew it wasn't that simple," Edgar was still grumbling.
Jasmine took a deep breath. "Edgar, can you shut up? You're talking too much."
Edgar pouted and fell silent.
Lyanna spoke softly again, "Rhett not only wants to take over the Hawthorne family but also plans to target the Cunningham family. He thinks that once Avery is out of prison, he can completely control the Hawthorne family. Moreover, he never takes women seriously. He believes he can easily manipulate Avery once she's out."
On the balcony, Edgar didn't dare to make a sound, but he grabbed a baseball bat and was about to leave.
"Where are you going?" Jasmine asked.
"To kill Rhett," Edgar said in a deep voice.
Jasmine rubbed her temples. "Go ahead."
Edgar snorted and came back. "Am I that impulsive?"
Jasmine looked at Lyanna. "We need to put on a show."
It seemed Rhett wasn't working alone. Rumors suggested Lily's success within the Powell family was linked to her collaborations with the Murray family, implying a possible connection between her and Rhett.
Lyanna clenched her hands and nodded.
The Cunningham Group.
Jasmine had just entered the company when she bumped into Hestia.
Hestia, holding her belongings, looked at Jasmine excitedly. "Mrs... Mrs. Douglas!"
Jasmine instinctively wanted to call her 'Hestia' but held back. "Hello."
Hestia adjusted her glasses and extended a hand to shake Jasmine's. "Hello."
Jasmine quickly responded politely.
Hestia was her sister-in-law, after all.
Jasmine awkwardly gestured for Hestia to enter the elevator first.
Hestia still didn't know Edward's identity. Would she be angry when she found out in the future?
"Edward..." Jasmine hesitated in the elevator.
Hestia looked at Jasmine, about to say something when Primrose also entered.
Primrose frowned upon seeing Hestia. "What are you doing here?"
"I'm rejoining the Cunningham Group today," Hestia said proudly, lifting her chin a bit.
Primrose was indeed angry, clenching her fists. "You hid your marriage and still want to rejoin?"
"It's none of your business. The HR department investigated it," Hestia said calmly.
"Hestia! What are you so arrogant about? Tomorrow is the CEO assessment. Let's see if you can pass." Primrose threatened. "I won't let you stay."
"Is the Cunningham Group your family business?" Hestia was angry.
Jasmine, standing in the corner, looked around. Was this workplace bullying?
"How do you know the Cunningham Group won't be my family's?" Primrose said coldly.
Jasmine was shocked. How could the Cunningham Group become her family's?
"The Cunningham Group could never be yours," Jasmine said in a deep voice.
Primrose glanced at Jasmine, not recognizing her. "Who are you? What does it matter to you? Mind your own business."
Hestia was shocked, opening her mouth but unable to say a word. Primrose was too arrogant.
Jasmine just smiled and said nothing.
"Mrs. Douglas, I'll go to work now," Hestia said to Jasmine in the corner.
Jasmine nodded. "Go ahead."
Hestia moved her things into the office area, surprising everyone.
But Marlon already knew in advance.
"Hestia, go back to your workstation. There are a few projects I need you to review again," Marlon said with a smile.
Hestia nodded. "Okay, Marlon."
Marlon then checked the time. "By the way, tomorrow is the CEO assessment for the Cunningham Group. Everyone must prepare well. This interview is very important, not only for your regularization but also for your future development."
Everyone was excited and nervous. They would meet the CEO of the Cunningham Group tomorrow.
This was indeed a great opportunity for the interns.
Primrose was also excited, her lips curling up. She believed she would definitely win the favor of the Cunningham Group's CEO.
"The CEO of the Cunningham Group won't fancy you," She said as she passed by Hestia. "Give up."
"Well, he won't fancy you either because my husband told me that the three heirs of the Cunningham Group, two are married, and one is about to get engaged. The fiancée doesn't seem to be you," Hestia began to fight back, taking out her phone and shaking it. "The media captured it early this morning. The third heir of the Cunningham Group had a night out with a lady from the Murray family."
Primrose's face turned ugly, clenching her fists. This was different from the rumors she had deliberately spread.
"We'll see," She snorted and turned to leave.
