Chapter 780 Priya Pressures Betty to Divorce
Steven cursed, he thought catching Mark would involve Kavi, but it seemed the old fox Kavi was too ruthless.
"Don't worry, Mark can't escape. Our people are still guarding the front," the police reassured Steven.
But then a gunshot rang out. During the skirmish between the police and those men, they threw Mark out of the car.
In the chaos, they chose to silence him.
"Mark!" Steven and the police chased after him, but Mark was already on the brink of death.
Mark had been shot in the chest.
He seemed surprised that he would ultimately be killed by his own people.
They were there to silence him. If they couldn't rescue him, they had to kill him.
In any case, Mark cannot be captured alive by the police.
Mark opened his mouth, trying to say something, but blood gushed out, making it unclear.
The police moved closer to hear him.
They heard Mark say, "The bank in Muskow has a safety deposit box for Lisa."
Mark had left a large fortune for Lisa and Daniel. The bank's vault contained Mark's collection of valuables, jewelry, auction items, antiques, even gold, and cash, as well as the items the police were after.
Mark's legendary life had finally come to an end.
In the end, he died by himself.
Mark had schemed for so long, killed so many, and hurt so many.
He finally received the punishment he deserved.
Lisa didn't acknowledge him, so in a way, he indirectly died because of her.
This was his punishment.
Mark couldn't close his eyes even in death, probably because he was still unwilling to accept it.
Raj and Dev were both arrested.
Kavi's influence in this area was thoroughly suppressed.
As long as Raj didn't stir up trouble, Steven could soon calm things down in Silverwood and transition the Hughes family business.
But Kavi surely had a backup plan, so Steven couldn't let his guard down.
Silverlight City
At Betty's residence, Jasmine called Betty multiple times, trying to get her to come over, but Betty stayed home, leaving the child with Jasmine.
She was waiting for Richard to come back.
Betty used to be a proud woman who only believed in herself.
But recently, she prayed to God every day, asking for Richard's safe return.
Betty shouldn't have let Richard go, but she knew Richard was a man with a sense of duty. If his comrades asked him to do something, he would do it.
That was also the Richard she loved. She couldn't expect him to change just because she married him.
Betty also knew Richard would definitely go because of Dev.
"A call came in saying Dev and Raj have been arrested! The police have caught them and sent them back to the country! The evidence is conclusive, they are both sentenced to death!" Ryder burst in excitedly.
Betty's eyes reddened, and she clenched her hands. "Has Richard not come back yet?"
He should be back by now.
Ryder smiled and looked outside. "He's back."
Betty froze for a moment, then ran out excitedly.
Richard had returned without telling Betty.
Betty lost control and threw herself at Richard, hugging him tightly, her voice choked. "You're finally back."
"Did you miss me?" Richard hugged Betty with one arm, his right arm injured and in a sling.
Betty choked up, trying to hold back her tears. "If you didn't come back, I was going to remarry."
"Don't you dare." Richard gritted his teeth, grabbed Betty's chin, and finally showed some toughness, lowering his head to kiss her hard. "You're mine for life."
Betty cried and laughed, hanging onto Richard's neck, responding to his kiss.
"It's good to have you back," Betty choked out. "Richard, welcome home."
Richard smiled and whispered, "Betty, congratulations on your new beginning."
Dev was arrested, so Betty's nightmare was over.
"My nightmare is finally over," Betty said, holding onto Richard, unwilling to let go.
Outside, Steven leaned against the car door, having been ignored the whole time.
Betty's eyes were all on Richard, she didn't even greet Steven.
Honestly, he felt uncomfortable, and even thought it would be better if Richard had died over there.
But Richard came back alive, and Steven still felt relieved.
Steven was a contradictory person. From childhood, he was taught to seize more things and benefits, but no one taught him how to love.
Indeed, Steven was probably destined to be alone.
"Richard, don't think this means I've given up," Steven said with a smile.
Betty finally realized Steven was outside.
She instantly glared at Steven, looking like a cat with its fur standing on end.
Richard smiled and raised an eyebrow at Steven, declaring his dominance. "Three months should be about enough."
"Still half a month left," Steven smirked. "We'll compete fairly, each relying on our own abilities."
He deliberately provoked Richard.
In fact, he knew he had already lost.
But he couldn't let Richard get Betty so easily. If it was too easy, Richard might not cherish her. "Richard, you can't give Betty what she wants with your status. Your future life won't be as simple and perfect as you think."
"Not only that, but you won't get past the Willer family," Steven said provocatively before getting in his car and leaving.
Betty was a bit surprised. Knowing Steven, for him to say such things meant he was giving Richard a way out.
Narrowing her eyes, Betty glared at Richard. "You two got along well in Silverwood?"
Richard's back tensed up, feeling like Betty was catching him in the act.
"I saved him," Richard answered truthfully.
Betty snorted. "Did you two do anything behind my back?"
Richard's hair stood on end. "Steven and me?"
They wanted to kill each other.
"Looks like I'm the one who should be cautious now. That lunatic swings both ways," Betty gritted her teeth, thinking she needed to hide Richard. What if Steven took a liking to him?
Steven was the type who didn't care about gender in love.
Richard wasn't gay, though. He thought Betty was joking and ruffled her hair. "Stop talking nonsense, honey. I'm tired."
"Betty!" Just as the couple was about to reunite and pour out their hearts, a few unwelcome guests arrived at the door.
It was Priya and Tara, along with Aunt Abigail and her group.
They didn't come with good intentions.
"You've grown quite defiant, haven't you? I ask you to come home, and you don't even answer your phone!" Priya said angrily.
Betty's face darkened, and she stood protectively in front of Richard. "If you have something to say, just say it directly."
"In that case, I'll just make it clear! Richard isn't good enough for you. Divorce him immediately. Since Steven is back, you should go back to Muskow and live a good life!" Priya said.
