Chapter 534 Evan's Sowing Discord

Karen stared at Evan, stunned.

Jasmine's eyes widened too; it was clear Evan really despised Karen.

Howard's face darkened, and Claire's expression soured. She pointed at Evan and snapped, "What nonsense are you talking?"

Evan smirked, leaning back in his wheelchair. "Nonsense, Claire? Why did you so easily agree to my mom's plan to ruin Daniel and Jasmine's engagement and make Serena Daniel's fiancée? Because my mom had dirt on you. Things just spiraled out of control."

Evan glared at Claire. "My mom said you marrying into a wealthy family and marrying Howard was pure luck. If it weren't for you and Howard being complicit in his crimes and seizing company shares, Howard would've dumped you long ago."

Karen's face turned red with anger, trembling.

"Evan, you're crazy!" Karen screamed, stepping forward to hit him.

But Evan wasn't having it. He grabbed Karen's wrist.

Jasmine watched Evan, deep in thought. She remembered how Evan always seemed guilty towards Karen, often talking about how hard it was for his mom to raise him.

From feeling guilty and being controlled to a state of open rebellion, he must've been through a lot.

"Don't listen to him. He's gone mad because of his crippled legs," Karen ranted, looking back at Howard and Claire.

They both looked annoyed, snorted, and left. Claire even called him a lunatic on her way out.

Jasmine looked at Karen. As a mother, she said such cruel things, calling Evan crippled and mad.

At that moment, Jasmine understood. She had always wondered why the mother who raised her for twenty-one years turned so cruel after finding out she wasn't her biological daughter.

Now it was clear. Karen was inherently selfish and heartless.

If she could treat her son like this, how could she be kind to an adopted daughter?

"Did I say anything untrue?" Evan sneered, addressing the guests. "This woman is my dad's mistress, and the child in her arms is my dad's illegitimate son. He should inherit the Wilson family, not just my mom."

Evan said this to put Karen in a tough spot.

Although Benjamin had no direct relatives, the Wilson family had many branches.

Everyone knew Evan wasn't Benjamin's biological son after the commotion at Serena's funeral.

No one wanted the Wilson family's assets to fall into the hands of outsiders, so they would unite against Karen and support the mistress's son for the inheritance.

Of course, they weren't good people; they were selfish and didn't want Karen to take everything.

Everyone wanted a piece of the pie now.

"That's right. Benjamin's assets shouldn't all go to Karen. He was going to divorce her anyway, and the Wilson family's assets shouldn't go to her."

"Exactly!"

The scene became chaotic, and everyone started accusing her.

Tessa looked at Evan gratefully while holding her son.

Evan just smirked.

He wasn't helping Tessa; he just wanted to mess with Karen.

Karen trembled, glaring at Evan. "You're going too far. You want me dead!"

"Are you willing to die? If you are, I'll go with you," Evan said hoarsely, his gaze steady.

It seemed like if Karen was willing to die, he'd follow her without hesitation.

He felt he owed his life to his parents and was ready to return it.

Karen was livid, pointing at the bodyguards. "Throw them all out!"

She had prepared for trouble today but didn't expect it to get this bad.

"Take him back! He's lost it!" Karen screamed, calling Evan mad and ordering people to take him away.

Jasmine and Ethan wanted to step in, but then Evelina and Alex showed up with more people.

"He's my son. How dare you try to hit him," Evelina said, standing behind Evan. "Karen, those who do evil will meet their end. You'll be punished."

Seeing Alex, Karen's expression changed. She pointed at Evan, eyes red. "Evelina, I know what you've done. You don't have a child, so you came to steal mine! You must have turned him against me."

Karen cried and accused Evelina, looking at Alex. "Alex, Evan is my son, the son I gave birth to with great difficulty. Evelina turned him against me and now wants to harm me. She's vicious!"

"Enough!" Alex's face darkened. "You call her vicious? Then what are you? Evan grew up with you. How did he end up like this? You wicked woman!"

Alex had seen Karen's true nature, looking at her with anger. "Evan is sick! His leg is injured. What did you do? You delayed his treatment. It's your fault he's in a wheelchair now, yet you still say such hurtful things! You're his mother, but you haven't cared for him at all. I haven't seen you make a single sincere call to check on him!"

However, Evelina had been by Evan's side since he was discharged. She stopped attending her favorite parties and social gatherings, staying home to watch over Evan, fearing something might happen to him. Every day, she thought about what to cook for Evan, not trusting the housekeeper to do it.

The comparison was clear.

"Dad, Mom, let's go." Evan turned to smile at Evelina, saying he wanted to go home. "I want to eat your pizza."

Evelina lovingly ruffled Evan's hair. "Alright, I'll make it for you at home."

Evan clenched his fists tightly. He wasn't trying to provoke Karen; he just didn't want Evelina to stay and get upset seeing Karen.

Karen was furious at Alex's rebuke. Instead of reflecting on herself, she blamed Evelina for seducing Alex, badmouthing her, and stealing her son.

Evelina! Karen glared at Evelina with hatred, clenching her fists tightly.

She couldn't lose to Evelina.

Absolutely not.

"You're destined to lose," Jasmine said, leaning against Ethan, looking at Karen with pity. "Your husband is dead; your son hates you. Even if you get the Wilson family's inheritance, what does it matter? Your life is destined to be pathetic."

Karen looked at Jasmine and sneered. "Do you really think being the Cunningham family's daughter makes you special? I raised you, and you'll owe me for the rest of your life."
