Chapter 217: What She Can't Have, She Will Destroy
"Aria Miss Harper, may I ask why you chose to be a home-wrecker and destroy someone else's family?"
"I heard your cousin Zelda bullies others at school, how do you see this?"
"Did you receive any influence from your cousin?"
"What nonsense are you all spouting? Turn off the cameras!" Aria Harper stared angrily at the reporters. "Since you already know my identity, turn off the cameras right now. If you dare to report today's events, my Uncle won't let you off."
Jasmine stood by the door, watching Aria Harper's arrogance.
"Do you know what this kind of fool reveals?" Emily also stood by the side, sneering.
Dealing with people like Aria Harper was so effortless, there was no need to think or plan.
"The tragedy of family upbringing, being overly indulged and allowed to believe that parents and family can handle everything for her. She's a princess at home, so she thinks she's a princess in society too, looking down on everyone else." Emily shook her head sarcastically.
Unfortunately, this society is very pragmatic. If parents don't educate their children properly, there will always be someone to educate them when they enter society.
"Why did you become the other woman? Your sister bullied her classmates. Does your family have issues with their values?"
Some people jeered.
"You're quite audacious. Do you know that my sister, Harper, is about to get engaged to Stellar Enterprises? My sister will be the future lady boss of Stellar Enterprises and Ethan's wife. Dare to mess with me and see how you can survive in the entertainment industry!" Aria Harper's sole focus was to enter Ethan's entertainment company, but she never had the connections.
This time, the Brown family and the Douglas family were going to form an alliance, and Aria Harper had been able to benefit from this relationship. Everyone sought to flatter her.
She enjoyed being flattered, just like Kimberly.
"So, Harper, who is going to get engaged to Stellar Enterprises, is also your cousin. I wonder if she has bullied or been the other woman to others."
Someone turned their focus towards Harper.
This had been arranged by Jasmine beforehand...
She didn't want to do this, but Harper had schemed against Ethan multiple times; she was no saint either.
"Bullying? What bullying? Whatever happened in my sister's family is their own business. It was fortunate for them that they got beaten. They even received millions of dollars in compensation from my uncle. They took the money and now they're coming out to talk about something that happened ten years ago. Are they short on money again? Such a trivial matter, yet they're making a big fuss now!"
"Aria Harper, are you saying that bullying is innocent?"
"So what if we gave them money?"
Aria Harper wanted to leave, but she was surrounded by reporters.
In an instant, these remarks made by Aria Harper were attacked by the online community.
Aria Harper probably didn't expect that within a few hours, she would become the hot topic of various internet searches for the first time in her life.
Bullying is innocent? Victim playing for attention? Double victimization! These words suddenly dominated the search results.
The Brown family's PR team quickly refuted the rumors and tried to suppress the search results, but it was impossible to completely suppress them.
...
The Brown family.
"What's going on? Is Aria Harper an idiot?" Harper rarely got angry, looking at the online opinions, she was going crazy.
"The engagement ceremony is this afternoon, and now all of this suddenly comes out. What should we say at the press conference this afternoon? How should we address this?"
Harper was so furious that her whole body was trembling.
"Miss, Miss, calm down. You can't get angry. You can't get angry," the assistant panicked, supporting Harper.
"Get out of here! You bunch of losers, idiots! Get this matter under control and call Aria Harper! Tell her to shut up!" Harper was so angry that she could have killed someone.
Trembling, Harper took out her phone and immediately thought of reaching out to the Douglas family. She called her father and asked him to comfort Howard and ensure that the public opinion was suppressed before three o'clock in the afternoon.
The next call was to Ethan, wanting to explain that she was not familiar with Aria Harper. But Ethan didn't pick up the phone at all.
"Damn it..." Harper's eyes turned red, and her whole body was shaking as she tightly gripped her phone.
No, she couldn't let this happen. She couldn't lose like this. She wouldn't admit defeat. Ethan had to be hers.
She had waited for so many years and put in so much effort. She had to have Ethan, and if she couldn't have him, she would ruin him!
Ethan better not underestimate her. She had been so good to him. She had been obedient and submissive. What more did he want from her?
"Miss, Madam, we can't suppress it at all," the assistant rushed into the living room and said anxiously. "There's obviously someone pulling the strings behind this."
"Is it Ethan?" Harper stumbled out and asked in a deep voice.
"We've checked. It shouldn't be Ethan. This happened suddenly, and Ethan probably just found out about it too, as Star Entertainment hasn't taken any action yet."
Harper paused. If it wasn't Ethan, then who else had the ability to bring the Brown family to the brink of destruction? "Besides Ethan, who else can do this?"
"We couldn't find any information..." the assistant was very worried.
...
IF Plaza.
The drama was still unfolding. Aria Harper was trapped in the VIP lounge of a luxury store and couldn't leave. She had to wait for her bodyguard and company personnel to come and pick her up.
Jasmine went to a corner and answered a phone call. "Thank you for this..."
"We are not in a cooperative relationship?" On the other end of the phone, a man's voice was low. "I'm surprised that you finally took action."
Jasmine didn't say anything.
"It seems like you've figured it out," the man spoke again. "Don't worry, the public opinion won't be suppressed. It will continue to escalate. Howard is not a fool, and the engagement press conference in the afternoon will definitely be ruined."
Jasmine still didn't say anything.
"Jasmine, I'm not a philanthropist. Consider this a gift from me to you for now. I don't need your repayment for the time being. But the next time... when you come to me seeking help again, I will expect compensation." The man reminded Jasmine that since this was a cooperation, it had to be a give and take.
"Okay..." Jasmine agreed.
"Very well," the man smiled and hung up the phone.
After the call ended, Jasmine absentmindedly walked back into the store.
"Get rid of all the reporters!" the manager shouted at Emily. "Are you in cahoots with his wife?"
"We just know each other," Emily replied, clearing her ear.
"Oh! I understand now. How convenient that you caught them in the act. So it was you who informed his wife!" The manager and Emily started arguing.
"She's capable of being a third party, afraid of others finding out!" Emily wasn't afraid of her.
"You are fired!" the manager said angrily.
"What gives you the authority to fire me? Do you have any evidence?" Emily rolled her eyes.
"I am the manager, and I have the right to fire you. Plus, do you have any accomplishments? According to the rules, those without accomplishments can get lost." The manager pointed at Emily's chest and scolded.
"Why do you speak so ill of others..." Jasmine ran over and stood in front of Emily. "The assessment isn't over yet."
"Huh, it's been almost a month already. Without any accomplishments, are you just freeloading? People like you, from the lower class of society, can't even afford a bag with all your savings, right?" The manager mocked Jasmine. "You've been watching shows in our store for so long without buying anything, how dare you speak. If you have the ability, buy a bag yourself and improve your sister's achievements."
