Chapter 451 Jasmine Left Ethan to Go to School
Evan looked at Karen with vigilance; she intended to harm Jasmine. "What do you mean? Jasmine is now the daughter of the Cunningham family. You should think twice before trying to touch her."
"You're worried I'll harm Jasmine. I would never lay a hand on her. I just want her to repay me for the twenty-one years of upbringing. That's what she owes me," Karen scoffed.
She knew Jasmine had a soft heart and that Jasmine always remembered the feelings of these years.
Otherwise, Jasmine wouldn't have given up resistance so easily and confessed to the crime back then.
Evan knew that Karen had always used this method to manipulate Jasmine and him.
"Say it directly. Jasmine is the daughter of the Cunningham family and can no longer be controlled by you," Evan said with his fists clenched.
"What about public opinion? The Cunningham family accused me of framing Jasmine and said that the extortion information from back then was all fabricated by me. After all, Jasmine left the Wilson family without taking anything, including her phone."
Karen sneered as she said, "The real culprit has been found. It's Briana Price, the daughter of our butler. She took care of Jasmine for so many years and dared to steal her phone and extort on us. How bold! I've already sent her to the police."
Evan looked at Karen in shock. Briana was the daughter of Larry Price from the Wilson family, a few years younger than Jasmine.
One could say that Evan had watched Briana grow up.
Although they weren't very close, she was still a girl who had grown up with him.
No matter what method Karen used to deceive Briana into taking the blame and confessing, she had ruined Briana's life.
Just as she had ruined Jasmine's life back then, she showed no remorse towards destroying another girl.
"You're insane," said Evan. Karen was truly selfish and cold-hearted to the core. From the very beginning, she had been a person who only sought profit, merely disguising herself well.
She was too adept at portraying herself as a victim and too skilled at using tears to manipulate others.
"Evan, you're still too naive. Only power and money can bring you everything you want," Karen said as she sat on the sofa. "Do you remember what I taught you before? Whether in the Wilson Group or anywhere else, you must spare no effort to keep the initiative in your own hands."
Karen smiled, seemingly very satisfied with her achievements. "History only praises the victors; it doesn't care about the means used to achieve victory."
As long as you win, all the means you used will be praised. But if you lose, no matter how well you did, it won't matter.
Clearly, Karen had endured for so many years and now considered herself as the victor.
Over the years, Karen had disguised herself as a good wife and mother, but behind the scenes, she was a crocodile that bit.
"Now I understand why the media went crazy over the true and false daughter incident, why your personality changed so drastically, and why you suddenly hated Jasmine to the core while showing so much care for Serena Brown, who had never grown up in the Brown family."
All of this was orchestrated by Karen behind the scenes.
The bigger the scandal, the more aggrieved Serena appeared, the more spoiled and willful she became, the more Benjamin could see how hard it was for Karen as a mother. The child wasn't raised by her side, and it was all May's fault.
Benjamin felt guilty and believed it was all his fault, so he would go to great lengths to satisfy all of Karen's demands, including the shares of the Wilson Group that Karen fought for Serena.
Now that Serena was dead, the shares belonging to Serena could only be inherited by the true daughter of the Brown family, which was Benjamin's last insistence.
So, Karen was in such a hurry to bring back the true daughter of the Brown family.
As long as Karen found her biological daughter, whether Benjamin lived or died would hardly matter.
Evan now had reason to suspect that Karen was already eager to make a move against Benjamin before he proposed divorce and marriage to Tessa.
"What do to want me to do? Please, don't hurt Jasmine anymore. She was the most innocent victim in that incident," Evan almost pleaded with Karen.
"You've finally learned to be obedient," said Karen. She knew that held the leverage of twenty-one years of raising Jasmine, she could use this debt to force Jasmine into accepting certain things at any time.
"Call Alex right now. Tell him you're hurt and want him to come over to keep you company. Remind him to come alone," Karen instructed. She took advantage of Evan to create an opportunity to be with Alex for herself.
Karen had made up her mind that once Benjamin was dead, she would marry Alex. She believed that victory favored the prepared.
Jasmine happily dragged her suitcase into the University of Silverlight City .
Ethan's luxury car was parked in the farthest parking area from the dormitory. Because Jasmine considered it was too ostentatious.
"Stay in the dorms on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday; come home on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. On Sunday, I'll accompany you back to the Cunningham family. No resistance, no refusal, protests are invalid," Ethan said ominously as he pulled Jasmine's suitcase.
The UnityTrust Group didn't even want to make an exception for the school this year, actually letting his wife stay in the dorms.
"No," Jasmine refused. "I'll stay in the dorms on weekdays, go home on Saturday to be with you, and on Sunday, I'll go to my mom's place." Jasmine still refused, and now she had her own ideas and temper.
She was no longer the timid girl who listened to Ethan all alone.
Ethan was very unhappy so he asked, "Why do you only leave me one day a week?"
"Because distance makes the heart grow fonder," Jasmine explained to Ethan, quoting Emily's words.
Jasmine found that Emily was truly a love expert. When they lived together, Emily taught Jasmine various extreme temptations. When Jasmine started her college life, Emily taught Jasmine to occasionally ignore Ethan.
She said that a man's love for someone had a time limit. The best way of keeping a man always interested was to blow hot and cold.
Now, she had to keep blow hot and cold with Ethan.
When Emily said these things, Jasmine just laughed. She actually just wanted to make up for her lost college time.
As for the so-called method to keep Ethan interested, Jasmine didn't really believe in it.
Only those who were favored can act with impunity. Those who could still gain extra love by keeping blow hot and cold with their lovers were actually loved by the other person deep down.
Otherwise, they couldn't succeed.
Clearly, Ethan was the one willing to indulge her. He was willing to watch Jasmine change and make trouble with a smile.
Connor had called Ethan, telling him not to keep Jasmine, to let her have more time away from him, and not to spoil her too much, as it wasn't good for her.
Ethan was still hesitating on how to bring up the idea of Jasmine staying in the dorms, but Jasmine herself had already proposed staying in the dorms on weekdays.
"Call me if you need anything," Ethan was already starting to miss Jasmine. "I'll miss you."
He felt this wasn't Connor desensitizing Jasmine but rather torturing him.
He felt so wronged.
"It's a girls' dormitory; you shouldn't go up," Jasmine blushed and pushed Ethan to go home.
Ethan had no choice but to hand the suitcase to Jasmine. He stood there watching her enter the dormitory.
Jasmine sneaked a glance back at Ethan, feeling a bit reluctant herself.
They had become so accustomed to being together that Jasmine found it frightening.
Last time, when Ethan didn't answer her call, she got so nervous and scared that she had a heart attack.
She couldn't go on like this; it would put a huge psychological burden on Ethan.
So she had to try to keep a little distance from Ethan.
Just as she entered the dormitory building, Jasmine was bumped aside by a woman, causing her suitcase to fall to the ground.
"Why are you blocking the way?" The other person had a bad attitude, accusing her first.
Jasmine stunned for a moment, finding that she still couldn't articulate her thoughts well in such situations.
"I think you're blind; you bumped into her," A girl ran over from behind, pointing at the person who bumped into Jasmine and cursing.
Jasmine glanced at the girl behind her, who looked to be in her early twenties. "Thank you."
