Chapter 364 Jasmine's Awkward Moment
Maple Grove, hotel.
When Jasmine woke up, she had a terrible headache.
The aftermath of being drunk.
"Ethan," Jasmine called out Ethan's name, realizing her voice was hoarse.
Shocked, what did she do last night? Why was her voice hoarse?
Ethan walked over from the living room and leaned against the door frame, smiling at Jasmine.
The smile was full of meaning.
The more Ethan smiled, the more anxious Jasmine became.
"Did I drink too much last night? Did I black out?" Jasmine was a bit nervous, her palms sweating.
What had she done?
Ethan walked to the edge of the bed and opened his robe, revealing his well-defined muscles.
The shocking array of scratches on his back, bite marks on his neck, and claw marks on his chest told a tale of violence. "After drinking, did it bring out your true self?" Ethan asked with a hint of sarcasm.
Jasmine blushed like an apple and quickly buried her head in the blanket, not daring to look at Ethan.
Ethan slapped Jasmine's raised buttocks. "Get up, let's eat, and then head back to Silverlight City in the afternoon."
Jasmine cautiously peeked out her head. "I didn't do anything else, did I?"
Ethan, holding back a smile, took out his phone and played the recorded video for Jasmine.
"Come, take a look." Ethan mischievously trapped Jasmine in his arms, forcing her to see what she had done last night.
So, Jasmine saw herself in a bathrobe, rolling around on the bed, occasionally sitting up and making slapping gestures at the phone, not knowing who she was pretending to hit.
"Delete it, please." Jasmine, feeling embarrassed, covered her face and asked Ethan to delete the video.
Indeed, being drunk was not scary, but waking up the next day with someone reminding you of what happened was the scariest part.
Ethan smiled and raised the phone. "No, someone might deceive me into divorce, saying she will remarry me soon. What if she divorces me and doesn't want me anymore? I need to keep some leverage."
Jasmine felt extremely embarrassed and shy.
She snuggled into Ethan's arms, speechless.
"The phone is ringing." Ethan took Jasmine's phone.
Jasmine took a look; it was Nolan!
Jasmine was still on vacation; why was Nolan calling?
She quickly answered the phone. "Mr. Cunninghamn, what's up?"
"There must be something up," Nolan said with a forced smile, gritting his teeth.
"Mr. Cunninghamn, I should still be on vacation, right?" Jasmine sounded confident, but there was a hint of guilt in her voice.
"Last night, you threatened me on Facebook, even blocked me. Today, you asked if I had something to do. I see you don't want your salary anymore." Nolan was furious. He hadn't slept all night, still trying to figure out what had gotten into Jasmine.
Was it Nolan's strictness as a boss that had driven Jasmine crazy?
Jasmine was shocked.
Meanwhile, Ethan stood aside, trying to hold back his laughter, his shoulders trembling.
"It's impossible, Mr. Cunninghamn, you've got it wrong. I won't delete you." Jasmine started to tremble.
"Add me back!" Nolan threatened before hanging up.
Trembling, Jasmine opened Facebook, her mouth agape.
She had actually blocked Nolan.
Hastily unblocking Nolan, Jasmine was on the verge of tears. "Ethan, I messed up."
"It's okay." Ethan tried to hold back his laughter and embraced Jasmine. "Nolan is not that petty."
"I said I would hit Nolan," Jasmine looked at the chat record, feeling even more embarrassed and upset.
"Ethan."
"Don't cry, you just spoke your mind, Nolan deserves it," Ethan tried to comfort Jasmine.
Jasmine noticed her News Feed was blowing up with over 99 comments.
Trembling, she opened it.
She saw a sneaky photo of Ethan on her News Feed, along with a bold statement.
"Ethan, did you use my phone to post this?" Jasmine asked tearfully.
Ethan looked innocent. "I wouldn't take a picture of my own back."
Luckily, Ethan was far from the camera in the photo; otherwise, he would have been in big trouble.
Jasmine yelled and buried herself under the blanket again, ready to delete yesterday's News Feed.
"Don't delete it; keep it as a memory." Ethan laughed until his stomach hurt.
"I'm not playing with you anymore," Jasmine thought it was all Ethan's fault. Why didn't he stop her last night?
"I'm sorry," Ethan apologized sincerely.
Silverlight City.
After getting off the plane, Jasmine lowered her hat and wore sunglasses and a mask, afraid of being recognized by acquaintances.
Ethan held her hand as they walked out of the airport.
"Ethan, Jasmine, get in the car." It was Mitchell who came to pick them up.
"You're finally back," Mitchell looked at Ethan with a hint of resentment.
"What's wrong with you? Why do you have such dark circles under your eyes?" Ethan glanced at Mitchell. "Having a rich nightlife?"
"Yeah, it's quite rich. You sent Tom to deal with Connor, and then Connor came to bother me. I haven't dared to sleep these days; I have nightmares every time I do, all because of his threats." Kent went to help Jasmine with the luggage and gestured for her to get in the car first.
Later, Mitchell whispered to Ethan in his ear. "Brothers should make up right after a fight. Shall I help you make peace with Connor? After so many years of brotherhood, you understand each other; there's no deep-seated hatred, right?"
Ethan looked at him coldly. "It's you two who make up right after a fight; it has nothing to do with me. In my world, my Honey is the most important."
Mitchell rolled his eyes. "Ethan, you've changed. You used to say no woman could make your heart race."
"I take back what I said before," Ethan had a look that said, "You can't do anything to me."
Mitchell looked shocked. "Ethan, I never realized you're lovestruck."
"Thanks for the compliment." Ethan got into the car, closed the door stylishly, pulled down the sun visor, and ignored Mitchell.
Mitchell covered his head with his hand, hearing for the first time that being lovestruck was a compliment.
"Ethan, how about we have dinner together tonight?" Mitchell got into the car and continued to persuade Ethan, his heart aching for their brotherly bond.
"I think you should consider dating," Ethan said, holding Jasmine's hand, intertwining their fingers, and deliberately shaking them.
"We're just here to hang out," Mitchell sighed.
"It's nice to have a girlfriend; you'll see after you start dating," Ethan said, refusing to listen to the advice.
Mitchell chose to give up.
Lovestruck was beyond saving.
Cunningham Enterprises.
Annabelle also returned to Silverlight City, her eyes red as she entered Nolan's office.
Nolan was surprised and put down his work. "Who upset you? Is the cooperation with the Everhart Family not going well?"
Annabelle shook her head in distress. "No, Mr. Everhart chose to invest on both sides and signed a betting agreement."
Nolan was taken aback. A bet agreement?
Given Ethan's circumstances - lacking corporate backing, facing constant obstacles, and going it alone - entering into a wagering agreement was utterly imprudent. It was a high-stakes gamble with the risks far exceeding the potential rewards. "Did Ethan agree to this?"
Annabelle nodded, feeling satisfied. No one took Ethan seriously now. Was Ethan overestimating himself, thinking his abilities were enough? In this society, having skills alone was not enough.
If the bet failed, it would mean Ethan was truly heading down a path of no return.
