Chapter 85 The Awkward Bodyguard and His Beautiful Boss

Richard's residence.
The rent for the auto repair shop was due.
Jasmine, Justin, and Richard had been living like sardines in the cramped auto shop for some time now.
"Richard, the rent is due. Are we renewing?" Jasmine asked softly. "The landlord came today asking for the rent; he said he wants to increase it."
Obviously, someone had approached the landlord, deliberately making things difficult for Jasmine and Richard.
Richard sighed and leaned against the door while smoking. "I'll handle the housing issue."
Jasmine nodded. "Richard... Today, Justin got into a fight with a classmate. It was Casey from the Taylor family."
Richard paused, and his smoking hand stiffened. "Is Justin hurt?"
Jasmine shook her head. "He has a bump on his head. It’s not a big issue, but the school... we can't go back. Casey's mom is Lisa, from the Douglas family."
Frowning, Richard spoke in a deep voice. "We're not going back. We'll find a new preschool."
Jasmine smiled bitterly and nodded. "Richard... do you think I should still be alive?"
Richard stubbed out his cigarette and pulled Jasmine into the courtyard. "If you die, what will happen to Justin? He wouldn’t have a dad or mom. How do you want Justin to live?"
"I'm sorry, Richard." Jasmine lowered her head, her tears now falling to the ground.
Richard took a deep breath and glanced at his phone. "I'll work late tonight; I'll handle the money matters. You just take care of Justin."
"On Monday, I want to go to work. I have a job interview." Jasmine glanced at Richard.
Richard nodded. "Alright, before Monday, let's sort out Justin's school situation."
Jasmine nodded as she sat in the courtyard, lost in thought.
Richard had been very busy lately. He thought his wealthy but somewhat problematic female boss enjoyed causing trouble for people. But as long as the pay was good, he accepted it.
The next morning, Jasmine took Justin to look for another preschool.
Every preschool warmly welcomed them, but when it came to entering information, they were inexplicably rejected.
The reason given was that Justin did not meet the enrollment criteria.
Jasmine already understood that it was pointless to visit more preschools. Lisa was behind this mischief.
Lisa resented her due to the incident with Jordan, and now she had found a reason to act against her.
"Jasmine, no matter how many preschools you visit, it's useless. I'll be waiting for you to come and beg me."
Jasmine stood at the entrance of a preschool, seeing Lisa waiting in a car parked on the side of the road.
It seemed like she wanted to see Jasmine's plight.
"Mom, can I not go to preschool?" Justin asked softly.
Jasmine shook her head. "We'll find a different preschool."
Early childhood education was crucial, and Jasmine didn't want her son to fall behind from the start. It would be exhausting for him when he entered elementary school.
"Jasmine, I'm curious. How did you persuade my brother to help you?" Lisa came to see Jasmine, not just to humiliate her but also to figure out Ethan's intentions.
Ethan wasn't a kind-hearted person; he had no reason to help Jasmine.
Lisa and Daniel were full siblings. If an outsider had to be chosen in the family, Ethan was definitely the outsider. There were constant conflicts between Daniel And Ethan at Stellar Enterprises.
Lisa wasn't foolish; she was afraid that Ethan's help for Jasmine was a way for Ethan to deal with Daniel.
After all, Daniel had once loved Jasmine deeply; they were once engaged.
Was Ethan trying to humiliate Daniel? Or was it to warn and provoke him?
Jasmine ignored Lisa.
"Jasmine, I'm curious to see how long you can remain proud." Lisa sneered, got into her car and slammed the door.
Lisa was quite irritated by Jasmine's arrogance. She called Daniel. "Are you still in Boston?"
"Yeah..."
Daniel didn't know that Jasmine had already returned to Silverlight City. He deliberately made an excuse to stay in Boston to find Jasmine. He couldn't admit it, but he still couldn't forget Jasmine.
"You're still not back. Silverlight City will turn upside down if you don't come back soon! Do you know that Ethan arranged for Jasmine's son to attend Presidio Knolls School? Now she's being arrogant because of Ethan's support. Yesterday, she even let her son hit my son! I heard she also scolded Ruby White." Lisa laughed sarcastically; it was unbelievable.
Daniel paused, his voice urgent. "Who are you talking about? Jasmine? Is she in Silverlight City?"
"Yeah, Ethan is supporting her now. She's being extremely arrogant. I don't know what Ethan is up to. Have you offended Ethan again recently?" Lisa actually wanted a harmonious family.
Unfortunately, her mother and Daniel's ambitions were too great.
Daniel's voice instantly became serious. "Ethan... It's him."
Ethan was truly a thorn in his side. He had taken Jasmine away and had the police take him into custody at the banquet.
Was Ethan using Jasmine to get back at him? Huh... How despicable!
After hanging up the phone, Daniel gave his assistant a dark look. "Drive, at the fastest speed possible. Take me back to Silverlight City at once!"
Ryan Mansion.
Erin Ryan was lounging in her pajamas while reclining in a massage chair with a face mask on, occasionally sipping coffee.
After glancing at Richard, who was standing beside her like a robot, she rolled her eyes.
Such an unromantic man.
Except for the day he shielded her from a knife attack, Richard seemed unwilling to spare her more than a glance at any other time.
Was she not beautiful enough or was her figure not enticing? She wondered why Richard was not yet under her spell.
If this were in Country M, every man around her would have lost control long ago.
But Richard always maintained a poker face.
"You've been standing here all night; aren't you tired?" Erin was quite interested in Richard. This man... seemed to be in need of money.
He risked his life to protect her, leading her through alleys as if he didn't care about his own safety. The aura he exuded intrigued Erin.
She investigated Richard’s background. He came from a poor family, had a little nephew to take care of, and his auto repair shop was intentionally damaged, resulting in a $300,000 loss. He borrowed from loan sharks, and with compound interest, he should owe around $600,000 now.
Richard remained silent, not saying a word.
Last night, Erin asked him to come into the room, but he refused and stood outside all night.
Richard might be in need of money, but he was here to be a bodyguard, not a... gigolo.
Raising an eyebrow, Erin removed her face mask and tossed it aside. There wasn't a man she couldn't handle.
"Don't you need my help with something? I heard you owe loan sharks. I can help you pay them off." Erin smiled seductively.
Richard frowned; he was somewhat displeased.
For wealthy heiresses like Erin, money was not an issue. $600,000 was like $6 to them.
But he didn't need it.
"You’re such a mystery." Erin’s tone grew sharp; she was clearly displeased. "You can leave now, get lost."
Though she could have fired Richard, Erin felt a bit reluctant. If she fired him, there wouldn't be anyone interesting for her to tease.
Erin now had a new hobby. She realized that teasing Richard a bit every day was quite entertaining.
Upon hearing that he could leave, Richard breathed a sigh of relief.
After entering the dressing room, Richard went to get his clothes and phone.
Just then, Jasmine called.
"Richard... Lisa has contacted all the preschools in Silverlight City. Justin is having a hard time getting enrolled." Jasmine sounded like she was on the verge of tears.
Richard's grip on the phone tightened. These people were really pushing it. "Don't cry; I'll handle it."
After hanging up the phone, Richard raised his hand and rubbed his forehead. He sat on the bench in the changing room for a long time, pondering what to do.
How could he solve this? Maybe he could plead with Erin for help.
