Chapter 706 Deborah Is Losing Her Value

Jasmine was uneasy about Vincent taking care of the kids and kept a watchful eye on him.

Vincent was indeed flustered, surrounded by them playing.

Playing intellectual games was easy for Vincent, Justin, and Joe, except Casey.

"How does it come out?" Casey scratched his head, asking repeatedly.

Vincent, annoyed by the questions, leaned back on the sofa, looking at Jasmine with a face of utter despair. "Take them away; I need to sleep."

Jasmine snorted but said, "Weren't you eager to be a dad?"

Vincent looked helplessly at the kids clinging to him and then at the one by his feet, gritting his teeth. "I don't want them anymore; give them back to Ethan."

Jasmine nodded. "Then what else do you want to take from him?"

"His wife." Vincent's lips curled up. "You, come with me."

Jasmine nodded again. "Fine, go wash the dishes and cook; the kids are hungry."

Vincent frowned, a bit displeased. "Why should I? I'm a guest."

"Aren't you trying to be my husband? Ethan does all this at home; you should experience it first." Jasmine stood up and pointed to the kitchen. "By the way, we don't hire maids cuz we don't trust outsiders. There's a pile of laundry in the laundry room; wash it. The silk and wool items need to be hand-washed."

Vincent's face darkened. "Does Ethan do all this at home?"

Seeing Ethan finish his call, Jasmine raised her chin. "Let me show you."

So, with Vincent's anticipation, Jasmine sweetly called out, "Ethan, we are hungry."

Ethan naturally put his phone aside and went to the kitchen, skillfully preparing a meal.

Vincent looked incredulous, raising an eyebrow with a smirk. "He can cook now, impressive."

Ethan ignored Vincent, placed the food on the table, and then went to the laundry room to sort the clothes into the washing machine, leaving the hand-wash items in a basin.

"You'll wash these later," Ethan told Vincent.

Vincent quickly shook his head. "I won't."

Ethan sneered. "Without trying, you won't know the joys of marriage and parenthood."

Vincent's smile deepened as if he couldn't believe Ethan was in this situation.

After dinner, Ethan checked the time. "Vincent, you wash the dishes."

"Why should I?" Vincent was a bit defiant.

"I'm a patient, still recovering. Jasmine is my wife; wives aren't for doing chores. They're to be cherished." Ethan raised an eyebrow. "The kids are too young, so it's up to you. Good luck."

"Oh, and you'll also be responsible for washing up the three kids, giving them baths, putting them to bed, telling them stories, and getting them to sleep."

Ethan gave the orders, treating Vincent like a nanny.

Vincent gritted his teeth in anger.

Ethan took Jasmine's hand and went into the bedroom.

"Can he handle it?" Jasmine was a bit worried. Could Vincent really manage with the three kids?

"Don't worry. Vincent won't harm the kids." Ethan knew this lunatic well enough.

He wouldn't hurt the kids.

"Are you really not leaving this time?" Jasmine asked softly, clutching Ethan's shirt tightly.

Ethan nodded. "Yes, I'm not leaving. I'll stay with you."

Jasmine's eyes reddened, and she tried to take off Ethan's shirt.

Ethan instinctively grabbed Jasmine's hand. "No."

"Then never let me see it," Jasmine said, her eyes red, her voice low.

Ethan took a deep breath and spoke softly, "I'm afraid you'll be scared, sad, and heartbroken."

"I still want to see it." Jasmine insisted on seeing Ethan's wounds.

Ethan took off his turtleneck sweater, revealing his well-defined upper body.

From the front, there were no wounds; all the scars were on his back.

Jasmine's fingers trembled, her tears welling up, her vision blurring.

She was indeed scared.

She raised her hand to hold Ethan's wrist and took a step back.

Seeing the hideous, bright red scars on his back, not fully healed, she collapsed to the ground, crying.

It looked like a demon's totem, covering his entire back.

"Does it hurt?" Jasmine choked out.

Ethan shook his head. "Seeing you makes it not hurt."

Jasmine reached out to hug Ethan but didn't dare touch his wounds, afraid of hurting him.

"It will get better as long as you don't despise me." Ethan's voice carried a hint of grievance.

"I would never despise you." Jasmine cried even harder.

Ethan smiled and wiped her tears. "You might not believe it, but Howard actually protected me at the last moment."

If Howard hadn't pushed Ethan away, shielding him from the explosion, Ethan's injuries would have been much worse.

His internal organs were completely unharmed.

While protecting Casey, Ethan was shielded by Howard from behind.

No matter what, Ethan was his son.

Howard knew he was doomed, yet he still saved someone.

It's truly pathetic.

"Such a person is really pathetic," Jasmine said hoarsely.

She wouldn't be grateful for his last act; he gave Ethan life but didn't cherish him.

As a father, Howard had never been responsible.

Moreover, he killed Ethan's mother.

"Let's not talk about him." Ethan tightened his embrace on Jasmine. "Jasmine, let's go to sleep."

Jasmine tensed up. "You're injured!"

Whenever Ethan sweet-talked about sleeping, it was a hint that he wanted something more.

Ethan laughed. "What are you thinking? Sleep is an adjective word."

Jasmine snorted; he used to say it was a verb.

Having lost her shares, Deborah went mad at home.

They wouldn't let her have peace, and she wouldn't let them have peace either.

"Messiah." The phone finally rang. Deborah nervously answered, her voice trembling. "Messiah, I lost to Avery. She took my shares, and now Owen is in jail. Avery controls the company. What should I do?"

On the other end, the man's voice, altered, was low. "Useless."

Deborah nervously gripped the phone. "I still have value. You can't just abandon me."

"Of course not."

The man spoke again, "You still have your value. Since we can't take down the Hawthorne Group for now, focus on sowing discord among the Cunningham family brothers."

"Yes, Edgar is a fool; he'll definitely fight," Deborah quickly responded.

"I'll send you a photo. My people found that Nolan is keeping a woman at home. Use this woman to our advantage and get rid of Nolan."
