Chapter 824 There is a Difference Between a Woman Who Loves Her Job and a Simple Woman
Silverlight City, the Hawthorne Group.
Edgar, who had learned a lot from Nolan, flew back non-stop, afraid that if he wasn't careful, he would lose his wife Avery.
He kept a close eye on her because his Avery was too dashing, and he had to guard against both men and women.
For example, Avery's innocent assistant, who clung to her a lot.
Dressed flamboyantly, Edgar leaned against the door . "Honey?"
Avery, who had just returned to the office after a meeting, didn't even bother to lift her head, responded with a hum, and continued working.
Edgar felt a bit resentful, for Avery, he was never more important than work.
"Ms. Hawthorne, here is your coffee." The female secretary came in with coffee.
Edgar immediately stepped forward to take the coffee, looking at the secretary. "Natalia, how do you think my outfit looks today?"
He just wanted a compliment from the opposite sex, hoping Avery would pay more attention to him.
Natalia Ruth glanced up and down at Edgar. He was indeed handsome, even a sackcloth would look good on him. So she nodded perfunctorily. "Looks good."
Edgar was a bit dissatisfied. "Be specific?"
"Mr. Cunningham, you are so handsome that your face overshadows the clothes." Natalia didn't know how to compliment him. Edgar had his own clothing and jewelry brand, and it was a top-tier brand with global recognition.
So his taste was certainly excellent, and most of his clothes were his own designs.
Natalia was afraid that if she didn't use professional enough words, she would offend him.
Edgar's eyes lit up. "You also think I'm handsome? What a coincidence, I think so too. Several young girls have been asking for my number these days."
He glanced at Avery out of the corner of his eye.
Avery, after instructing her assistant, looked up at Edgar. She had to admit that his face and figure were impeccable, he was young, handsome, and strong.
But his personality was a bit too flamboyant, not as composed as Nolan and Edward. He was too flashy, like a peacock.
"Honey, recently some young girls have been chasing me." Seeing Avery unmoved, Edgar spoke again, looking at her eagerly.
"Are you telling me this to satisfy your vanity, or to get my attention and make me wary of the women around you?" Avery leaned back in her chair, asking calmly.
This question stunned Edgar.
"Are you testing my limits? Or do you want to know my compliance?" Avery spoke again. "Edgar, I'm not a girl in my early twenties. I have endless work every day and no time to care about the pursuers around you."
After a moment of silence, she stood up and spoke again. "As my boyfriend, if you can't manage your relationships and handle your pursuers, then disappear from me, understand?"
Edgar instantly lowered his head, not saying a word.
Avery was different from others.
He brought this on himself.
Sure enough, love tricks shouldn't be used casually.
"I just wanted you to care about me a little." Edgar obediently followed behind Avery, hugging her, resting his head on her shoulder.
"If you find me boring, you can leave quickly. After all, I don't plan to be with you for a long time." Avery said lightly.
She was always like this, pretending to be too invincible, because she had no hope, so she wouldn't let herself be disappointed.
She seemed strong, cold and unfeeling, but in fact, she had little confidence in herself.
She wasn't sure how long someone like Edgar, a rich man, would be interested in her.
She habitually tested Edgar's limits.
In fact, she had no sense of security.
"Avery." Edgar frowned, letting go of her. "What am I to you? A bed partner? Or a toy to be discarded when you're done?"
Avery's body stiffened for a moment. She was indeed good at ruining any relationship.
But she didn't want to make amends and didn't know how to. "Whatever you think you are, that's what you are."
After saying that, Avery looked at the watch. "I'm very busy, don't cause trouble here. If you're really bored, go help Edward at the company, or help Jasmine, just don't bother me."
Edgar stood there, feeling a bit lost.
He had come back excitedly, thinking of giving her a surprise to take their relationship further, but it was still like this.
Avery always kept him at a distance, as if pushing him into an abyss.
Taking a deep breath, Edgar lowered his head. "Then I'll go home first, wait for you at home."
If he hadn't insisted on going home with Avery, they probably wouldn't even see each other at home.
Avery didn't say anything.
Then Edgar left feeling a bit dejected.
He couldn't feel any emotional response from Avery. He even wondered if his type really didn't appeal to Avery.
Was it really someone with Nolan's personality that was a perfect match for Avery?
Was his presence a hindrance to her?
The Cunningham Group.
After work, Hestia packed her things, feeling pretty good.
Primrose looked at Hestia angrily, deliberately bumping into her. "Are you happy now? Even if Callum is in trouble, you might not stay. You just got lucky."
Hestia looked at Primrose, speaking seriously. "I thought colleagues in the legal department would all be law-abiding and wouldn't engage in workplace bullying. If you continue behaving this way, I will use legal means to protect myself."
Primrose laughed. "Are you going to sue me? I haven't caused you any concrete harm. Does simply uttering a few words constitute workplace bullying? Then you're too fragile."
"I'm officially informing you now, I have severe psychological issues. If you continue to verbally attack or play tricks behind me, you'll be responsible for any problems I have. You can continue to bully meif you don't believe me." Hestia picked up her recording pen, its red light flashing.
She said this on purpose to scare Primrose.
Primrose looked at Hestia angrily. "You're too much, bringing a recording pen to work?"
"Sorry, it's a habit." Hestia said lightly, pointing to the cameras in the work area. "The company has surveillance everywhere. If you mess with my things behind my back, I'll report you to HR."
After saying that, Hestia placed her damaged sunflower ornament on the table.
It was obvious Primrose had deliberately damaged it while handling her things.
Primrose, knowing she was in the wrong, turned and left, not causing any more trouble.
Hestia breathed a sigh of relief and left with her bag.
Edward was still waiting for her at home.
Leaving the company, Hestia planned to take the subway and saw a car by the roadside.
The person in the car got out, looking a bit nervous. "Hestia."
Hestia paused. It was Saul.
