Chapter 72 Daniel Caught Jasmine

Henry's house.
After the incident that day, Jasmine had been hiding at home, too afraid to go out.
Online public opinion pressure was overwhelming, pushing Jasmine back into the spotlight once again.
She couldn’t go anywhere and had to stay in hiding.
Emily called her several times, but she didn't dare leave the house.
"Have you eaten?" Henry came back, carrying dinner.
Jasmine walked out of her room and shook her head.
She couldn’t look at her phone or even go outside.
She was afraid that people on the internet would corner her at her doorstep like they did six years ago, throwing trash at her, cursing her to die, and saying that she deserved everything she was going through.
"Eat something." Henry opened the food container and offered some to Jasmine.
Jasmine sat at the table, her hands still feeling numb.
"I've managed to suppress online public opinion, soon no one will remember this incident." Henry reassured Jasmine.
Jasmine didn't say anything.
Would it really be suppressed soon? The netizens might forget quickly, but she wouldn't forget so easily.
"In the next few days, try not to go out; don't go to the club either. After the Chamber of Commerce banquet, I'll take you out to relax." Henry didn't want Jasmine to go out because the Brown family's people were looking for her; they wanted to settle things privately.
It wasn't just the Brown family's people looking for her, even the Wilson family and the Douglas family were looking for her.
Jasmine looked up at Henry, waiting for his answer.
But Henry never gave her a definite answer.
"If Zelda does end up facing a long sentence, the Brown family won’t just sit idly by. They will use all means to find me. After all, Zelda is your fiancée. They will find me sooner or later." Jasmine knew very well that there were no secrets.
She lived in Henry's house but that didn't mean she was safe.
"I'm here." Henry just wanted Jasmine to feel at ease.
Jasmine fell silent and took a deep breath.
Jasmine felt nauseous, so she didn’t eat much. She got up to walk back to her room, feeling lonely and desolate.
For days, Henry felt the urge to pull her into his arms, but he always felt like Jasmine was deliberately keeping her distance.
In fact, he was well aware that if he didn't call off the engagement with the Brown family, Jasmine might find it hard to open up to him.
But he was confident he could keep Jasmine by his side.
He needed some time.
Mr. Patrick Sr. was not letting go of his power. If Henry did cancel the engagement with the Brown family, there was no way for him to take full control.
For the past few days, the Brown family's people had been looking for him. They wanted him to take Zelda out of jail.
He had done his best to avoid everyone; he wanted Zelda to learn her lesson properly. People who make mistakes always have to pay a price.
But Henry also knew it wouldn't be long before he couldn't avoid them anymore.
His phone rang again.
Henry glanced at it, knowing it was Mr. Brown Sr. once more.
Rubbing his brow, Henry answered the call.
"Grandpa Brown." Mr. Brown Sr. and Henry's grandfather had always had a good relationship.
"Henry, why have you not done something about Zelda being bullied in Boston?" The old man immediately came accusingly.
"Grandpa Brown, Zelda was the one who made the mistake in this matter." Henry frowned.
"Zelda is your fiancée; your grandfather personally approved it. We don't care about how many women you play with, but if Zelda finds out, it's only natural for her to react like that."
Henry stayed silent, simply rubbing his brow.
"I'm here with your grandfather. I've personally come to Boston. My granddaughter has been bullied and jailed. I want to see who has the audacity to do such a thing to a member of the Brown family."
On the other end of the phone, Henry's grandfather also spoke, "Bring that woman here."
"Grandpa, that’s not possible." Henry frowned.
He couldn't bring Jasmine back to the Patrick Family Estate.
"Henry, you seem to be growing a backbone." Mr. Patrick Sr. was very angry.
"I'm heading home now, but she... Just don't do anything." Henry glanced at the time, his expression serious.
With Mr. Brown Sr. personally coming to Boston, the nature of this matter had changed.
Continuing to resist would not be in Jasmine's best interest.
After hanging up the phone, Henry subconsciously looked back.
Jasmine was standing at the door, clearly having heard their conversation.
"Jasmine..." Henry tried to explain.
Jasmine's eyes reddened as she tightly held onto her skirt. "You should go home."
Henry felt a piercing pain in his chest but continued, "Regarding Zelda... What if we teach her a lesson and drop the case? Mr. Brown Sr. has personally come to Boston. Dragging this on will not be in your favor."
Jasmine's eyes flickered with emotion as she took a deep breath, trying to contain the pain in her heart. "I won't."
She was adamant about not compromising.
"Even if it involves Justin and Richard?" Henry didn't want to worry Jasmine by revealing too much.
"What do you mean?" Jasmine nervously took a step forward, looking at Henry with fear.
"The Brown family's people have already approached Richard, and Justin is facing ostracism from his classmates. He has temporarily stopped attending school." Confused, Jasmine took a step back.
Deep down, she knew the Brown family would go after Justin and Richard.
"Even if I compromise, they won't spare me!" Jasmine cried out uncontrollably.
"Jasmine..." Henry stepped forward to embrace her, trying to calm her down. "Let's drop the case first; I'll handle the rest. Trust me, okay?"
"Henry... you won't call off the engagement, will you? I knew you wouldn't!" Jasmine pushed Henry away in distress and retreated helplessly.
"Tomorrow is the Silverlight City Chamber of Commerce banquet, but your answer is already clear." Jasmine’s heart raced as her body trembled all over.
Henry wouldn't break off the engagement with the Brown family.
She knew that as long as Henry didn't call off the engagement, she absolutely, absolutely couldn't choose Henry, even if it meant using him, she couldn't.
She would never be someone's mistress and give others a reason to continue hurting her. Absolutely not!
"Jasmine..." Henry didn't know how to explain; the situation was very complex. "Calling off the engagement isn't as simple as you think. The marriage alliance between businesses and families involves a lot."
Jasmine smiled faintly and took a step back.
In the end, it was because she wasn't important enough. In fact, she knew she wasn't important; she was just an insignificant woman in his life.
"Give me two years at most. Once I have complete control, I can divorce Zelda at any time." Henry wanted Jasmine to understand that he didn't love Zelda. He needed to marry her to take full control of the company and consolidate his power.
Jasmine continued to step back, shaking her head repeatedly.
Henry was not the person she wanted to choose.
The phone rang repeatedly, and Henry, feeling annoyed, adjusted his tie. "Rest well and lay low for a while."
With that, Henry left.
Mr. Brown Sr.'s arrival in Boston definitely meant the entire Brown family was getting involved in this matter.
For now, he needed to calm the old man's emotions. Moreover, the old man hadn't been well these past few years; he was suffering from high blood pressure. Henry truly feared he might worsen his condition out of anger.
As for Jasmine...
Before leaving, Henry glanced back at her. She had no one else to rely on, only him for protection. He could hide her for now, and in a few years, he would deal with everything for her.
Jasmine stood numbly in place, watching Henry leave.
She couldn't stay here any longer. The fact that the Brown family had called Henry away meant they were looking for her. She wasn't safe at Henry's place.
In a panic, she rushed back to her room, grabbed her phone, put on a coat, and wrapped herself tightly.
She hesitated briefly, then ran to the kitchen to grab a fruit knife before quickly rushing out the door.
But it was too late. Just as Henry left, three black cars had already parked outside. Clearly, Henry's visit had exposed her location.
From one of the cars, Daniel and Evan stepped out.
In the other cars, there were members of the Brown Family.
