Chapter 550 Jasmine Has Learned to Curse

Jasmine and Samuel got invited to the Silverlight City Chamber of Commerce Banquet because they run LY.

"The only new company surviving the Douglas Group's pressure is your LY," Samuel's friend said, spotting him from afar and walking over with a smile.

"Yeah, we're pretty resilient," Samuel replied, introducing Jasmine. "This is my partner, Jasmine."

"I've heard a lot about the Cunningham family's heiress, but seeing is believing," Samuel's friend said, shaking Jasmine's hand. "Are you taken?"

"Married," Jasmine said, showing her wedding ring.

"What a pity," the friend said, looking disappointed. "Too bad you didn't meet me first; I'm quite the catch."

Samuel glared. "Enough, her husband is better than you."

The friend looked skeptical. "I doubt there's a better man than me."

Samuel smiled. "Jasmine, let's go. Time to head in."

The event was packed, with Deborah back and the Douglas family attending. It was going to be lively.

"Jasmine, long time no see," Deborah said at the entrance, wearing a red spaghetti-strap gown and looking sophisticated.

Jasmine stood firm. "Do we know each other?"

Deborah smiled. "Still holding a grudge? Society's tough. You went to prison, haven't been out much, so it's understandable you don't know how things work."

People around Samuel looked surprised. "Jasmine went to prison?"

"Yeah, framed for something minor," Jasmine said, staying calm. "The truth came out, and I donated the state compensation. I'm the rightful Cunningham heir, unlike some who are just proof of an affair." She looked directly at Deborah.

Jasmine used to be too soft, but now she had to be strong in the company. Being weak only let opponents take advantage.

Betty was right; women in business are often underestimated. Without being tough, you can't show your ambition and capability.

Jasmine knew Deborah didn't see her as a threat yet, but she also knew they'd face off eventually. She couldn't lose her momentum.

"Jasmine, it's the 21st century; your words don't matter anymore," Deborah laughed. "Ethan spoils you, keeping you sheltered."

Deborah was mocking Jasmine for being inexperienced.

"So, Is this something that runs in the family? Knowing someone has a wife and still sticking to him, is it mating season?" Jasmine retorted, mimicking Betty's mocking style.

Deborah frowned. "Insulting me to my face, Jasmine? Don't get too cocky."

Applause came from behind.

Avery clapped and walked over with a smile. "Insulting you to your face? That's far from satisfying. I'll carve it on your tombstone."

Deborah's face darkened when she saw Avery. "Still playing the bully, Avery?"

"What act are you puting on? So hypocritical," Betty chimed in, arriving in a delicate dress, her pregnancy barely showing. Richard hovered protectively nearby.

Deborah's face soured even more. "This isn't the place for arguing. We'll meet again in the business world." She turned and left.

"Coward," Betty muttered, rolling her eyes.

"In college, she was always after Ethan," Betty said, looking at Jasmine. "Be confident. If she tries to get close to your husband again, slap her."

Jasmine nodded, looking up to Betty like a fangirl.

Samuel and his friend stood nearby, too intimidated to speak; the women's presence was overwhelming.

Meanwhile, Annabelle was locked in the Douglas family's basement, losing her grip. "No way, it can't be gone."

"You've been playing us for days!" Claire snapped. Howard was fed up with Annabelle's tricks and didn't let her attend the banquet. Claire, already angry, took it out on Annabelle.

"It must have been taken," Annabelle cried, hiding in the corner. She hated Claire and wanted to escape, but every attempt failed.

"No, I know!" Annabelle suddenly sat up. "Zelda took it! Find Zelda!"

"Bitch, still stalling," Claire slapped her.

"No, it's Zelda. She knows the location of my parents' safe. Find her, and you'll get the information."

Annabelle looked at Claire. "You want to know what's in that info behind Howard's back. It has things Howard fears and things that could shake Silverlight City's business circle. If you get it first..."

Annabelle's eyes gleamed. "Howard will hand over the company to you and Daniel."

She was sowing discord.

Claire, though vicious, couldn't outscheme Annabelle.

Annabelle was waiting for a chance to drag Claire down with her.

Claire squinted and grabbed Annabelle's hair. "If you're lying..."

"I wouldn't dare," Annabelle said, terrified. "I know I can't escape. If I lie, it's suicide."

Claire pushed her away. "I'll deal with you after I find Zelda."
