Chapter 500 Jasmine Learned to Say No

Samuel organized a dinner party, and the whole department showed up. Group B had just started and already secured their first deal.

Deborah tried to mess with Jasmine, but it didn't work.

Jasmine thought Deborah would find an excuse to skip the dinner.

Surprisingly, Deborah agreed and made sure her whole team came.

That night, everyone gathered for a barbecue. It was just a regular work dinner, but the vibe was great.

"Jasmine, that bracelet isn't cheap," someone pointed out. "It's the same as Deborah's!"

Another woman added, "Deborah's bracelet is a limited edition, worth over a million dollars."

Jasmine was shocked. The bracelet was a gift from Nolan. She wore it because it looked nice, not knowing it was so pricey.

"I bought mine last year after winning a competition in the U.S. It cost over a million," Deborah said, implying she earned it herself.

But Jasmine was different. She was still a student, interning, and hiding her family background and her relationship with Ethan.

Rumors were already flying that someone was supporting Jasmine, and this seemed to confirm it.

"Is it really that expensive?" Jasmine asked, smiling. "My brother gave it to me. He likes shopping at bargain shops, so it probably only cost a few hundred dollars."

Deborah didn't expect Jasmine to call it fake. She just smiled and stayed quiet.

The woman next to Deborah laughed, "Really? Jasmine, I love that bracelet. I can't afford the real one, and the fakes don't look this good like yours. How about I give you a thousand dollars for it?"

Jasmine refused. "Sorry, even if it's not worth much, it's a gift from my brother. You'd need his permission."

Not long ago, Jasmine wasn't good at saying no, but now she could do it without guilt.

"Oh, but I said I'd pay you. I really like it. Name your price," the other woman insisted, trying to pressure her.

Jasmine thought for a moment. "Two million dollars."

Everyone was stunned.

The real one was worth over a million, and Jasmine asked for two million.

She wasn't joking.

"Jasmine, you must be kidding," the woman said, looking annoyed.

Jasmine smiled. "You must be kidding too. If you really liked it, you wouldn't care about the price."

The woman, looking upset, sipped her Coke and said nothing more.

Jasmine changed the subject. "Today, Group B secured this deal thanks to everyone's hard work. You all did a great job."

Samuel steered the conversation away from the awkward moment.

But the rumor that Jasmine was being kept had already started, and the employees wouldn't stop spreading it.

"Last night, I saw Jasmine sneaking out the back door and getting into a luxury car, trying not to be seen."

"Yeah, I saw it too. She's dressed in designer brands from head to toe, and she says they're fake. Clearly, she doesn't want people to know they're real."

"If she were really rich, she wouldn't hide it."

A few employees gathered to gossip about Jasmine.

Jealousy is just human nature.

Deborah listened but hesitated before speaking. "Don't say that. Maybe things aren't what you think."

"Deborah, you're too naive. You've been abroad for years and don't know the trends here."

Deborah just smiled and stayed quiet.

"Samuel, what's your relationship with Jasmine?" someone asked.

"What do you think it is?" Samuel replied.

The person looked a bit embarrassed. "Just curious."

"Don't be too curious. The company doesn't allow office romances," Deborah chimed in. "You know, if two employees date, one has to leave, no exceptions."

Jasmine was surprised. "Who made that rule?"

Deborah laughed lightly. "It's Mr. Douglas's rule."

Jasmine was stunned and instinctively asked, "Ethan?"

Ethan made such a rule. But thinking about it, Jasmine felt a bit guilty.

Before knowing Ethan, she thought he was heartless and cold.

"Mr. Douglas made the rule for the company's betterment. Relationships can affect work," Deborah explained.

"Jasmine, you seem surprised. Is your boyfriend in our company?" someone asked with a smile.

Jasmine stayed silent. They guessed right.

But it wasn't a boyfriend; it was a husband.

Someone eyed Jasmine and Samuel, thinking there was something between them.

"I heard Samuel is from the Long family, with a very impressive background."

"Jasmine has great taste! Samuel seems like a catch."

Clearly, someone was jealous of Jasmine.

The rumor that Jasmine and Samuel were dating spread quickly in the company.

Some even joked about it in the group chat, hoping to get the news to Ethan.

Ethan was a man of his word with a strong presence.

The rules he set had to be followed. If Ethan found out Jasmine and Samuel were dating, who knows who he'd fire.

At that point, either Jasmine or Samuel would have to leave.

At Raymond Group, Ethan had been extremely busy, handling things personally on both sides. Fortunately, with Jasmine and Samuel at LY, he could focus more on Raymond for now.

Recently, Raymond had been pressuring the Douglas Group, pushing Howard to the edge.

"Mr. Douglas, our president isn't seeing anyone, Mr. Douglas!"

Outside, Howard was furious as he barged into Raymond.

Raymond targeting the Douglas Group wasn't new, and Howard could never get a meeting with Raymond's president, so he had to come in person.

As soon as he entered the lobby, he saw Ethan coming out of the elevator.

Howard's face instantly turned even darker. "You ungrateful bastard! Get back home!"

Howard was so angry that his hands were shaking. Ethan's open help with Raymond Group had already earned Arnold's severe warning to the Douglas family.

"Get back home!" Howard demanded.

Ethan ignored Howard.

"Ethan, business is all about profit. I'm here today to collaborate with Raymond's president. Once the profit is right, he won't keep targeting the Douglas family. Then, let's see where you stand!" Howard sneered. "I thought you were smart, but you're actually so stupid!"
