Chapter 877 Zander is Most Afraid of Genevieve

Raymond sat on the hospital bed, looking bewildered. When did he bring a man home?

Seeing that Zander was about to hit him again, Genevieve stepped forward to protect Raymond. "Dad, if you want to hit Raymond, hit me. It's the father's fault if the child isn't well-educated. I'll go home and hit his dad. It's all his dad's fault. If the elders don't behave properly, the younger ones will be influenced. His dad didn't set a good example."

Zander felt that Genevieve was scolding him too.

Raymond's dad was Zander's most accomplished child, and his achievements had long surpassed Zander's. So Zander felt very proud when he went out, except when it came to Raymond, who was very disappointing. He didn't follow the right path or go into business; instead, he started an appraisal center, a private detective agency, and a law firm...

And now, he insisted on marrying a woman with a tarnished reputation, who was not a good match for their family.

Zander was really furious.

But Genevieve was very protective, and as a grandfather, he couldn't say much.

"Let him handle it himself. Just don't affect the Long family's reputation. I'm getting old," Zander said angrily.

"Yes, people need to accept their age. You're getting old and should enjoy your retirement. At your age, getting angry is unnecessary. It's all his dad's fault. As parents, our own son isn't disciplined properly, making you worry about it." Genevieve said, indirectly scolding Zander.

Zander, who had spent his life in the military and was very proud, was a commanding figure in the Long family. But he was afraid of Genevieve.

Everyone gave Zander a lot of respect, but Genevieve had been at odds with him since she married into the Long family.

The reason was that when Raymond's dad wanted to marry her, Zander disapproved, calling Genevieve an actress!

Genevieve had held a grudge over what Zander said.

So, Genevieve was the only one in the Long family who dared to openly confront Zander.

When Raymond's father, Atticus Long, insisted on marrying Genevieve despite opposition, Zander was so angry that he didn't attend the wedding. Genevieve had a pot of white radishes sent to Zander's room.

It was a way of telling him not to not worry about so many things, and not to get angry over nothing.

That move completely stunned Zander. From then on, although Zander was the authority in the Long family, he didn't dare to offend Genevieve.

Especially since Genevieve had given the Long family two heirs, which made her even more untouchable.

"Atticus is busy every day with a lot of things to worry about. He doesn't have time to deal with this," Zander said weakly, still muttering.

"Yes, people say you should establish a family before a career, which is a rule passed down by our ancestors. Atticus hasn't take care of Raymond for a day. As a father, he's been absent. I, as a mother, raised Raymond, and I don't see any problem. If he dares to say anything else, I'll twist his head off," Genevieve said fiercely.

Was she really going to twist her husband's head off?

Zander felt a chill in his neck and almost choked with anger. "Fine, I won't care anymore. You handle your own son."

With that, Zander got up and left in a huff.

Raymond broke out in a cold sweat. After Zander left, he secretly gave his mom a thumbs up. "You're the best. Otherwise, Grandpa would have hit me again today."

Raymond started to play the victim.

Genevieve's face darkened, and she reached out to check Raymond's injuries. "Your grandfather may have been heavy-handed, but he wouldn't have beaten you to the point of needing hospitalization. So, tell me, what happened with these injuries?"

Raymond took a deep breath, not wanting to worry Genevieve, and spoke softly. "I had a car accident in Muskow a few days ago. It's not serious, just some superficial injuries."

"You're an adult now. Before making any decisions, consider the consequences. You're not alone; you have parents. Your life shouldn't be completely consumed by infatuation. If you die, think about us," Genevieve said angrily.

Raymond raised his hand to signal her to stop. "Mom, it was just a car accident. It's not a matter of life and death."

Genevieve snorted. "Take care of yourself. Anyway, I still have another son. Samuel isn't as disobedient as you."

Raymond quickly nodded. "Yes, you should go and care more about Samuel. Make sure he doesn't bring a boyfriend home."

Genevieve pointed at Raymond. "Don't talk nonsense."

Raymond quickly reassured her. "Samuel definitely likes girls. He won't bring a boyfriend home."

Only then did Genevieve let Raymond off the hook, snorting. "I'm not talking to you anymore. Samuel said he's taking me to the movies tonight. The younger son is still worth doting on. But you don't need me once you would have a wife."

With that, Genevieve elegantly walked out in her high heels.

At the door, Genevieve turned back to look at Raymond. "Bring her home for me to see sometime. Don't worry about your grandfather. It's a modern era; marriage is free."

Raymond nodded repeatedly. "Yes, you're right."

Genevieve raised an eyebrow and turned to leave.

Raymond breathed a sigh of relief and lay back on the bed. His plan to gain sympathy had worked.

He knew that only his mom could handle his grandfather.

As soon as Genevieve left, Samuel came to collect his debt.

Samuel messaged Raymond: [Raymond, I will take Mom to the movies. $220 for two tickets. Reimburse me.]

Raymond was in a good mood and transferred $2,000 to Samuel.

Samuel was speechless: [Raymond, you're so stingy. I came to help you, and you only gave me $2,000.]

Raymond replied: [Even between brothers, money matters should be clear.]

Samuel snorted: [Then I'll ask for more when you get married.]

Raymond chuckled. Samuel really knew how to talk. So he transferred another $2,000 to Samuel: "This is from your sister-in-law."

[Got it. I'm out.]

Raymond had just put down his phone when Lisa peeked in from the door.

Seeing no one else in the room, Lisa walked in.

As soon as Raymond saw Lisa, he immediately played the victim, weakly lying on the bed and looking at Lisa. "You're here."

He looked like he was on his deathbed, ready to give his last words.

Seeing him like this, Lisa's eyes instantly reddened, and she sat silently by the bed.

Raymond panicked a bit. Did he scare her to tears? "Actually..."

"Raymond, let's talk," Lisa said first.

Raymond felt inexplicably scared. What was she going to talk about? Was she going to leave him again? He had already used the sympathy card to solve the family issues.

"I know your grandfather definitely won't agree to us being together. And I don't want to see you continue to get hurt. I heard from Ethan that you'd rather be kicked out of the Long family than be with me. You've already done enough," Lisa said, tightly clasping her hands.

"Actually..." Raymond tried to explain.

"Listen to me!" Lisa looked up at Raymond.
