Chapter 243 Serena Is Dying

Meanwhile, at Liam's home.

Liam sneezed in the middle of the night. He then reached out to his forehead in confusion, wondering if he might have caught a cold.

There have been too many people catching colds recently, he had to be more careful.

At Richard’s home.

"Why don't you stay in your mansion and come to my rental house every night? Are you crazy?" Richard whispered while preparing food at his house.

"Are you sure you want to eat instant noodles?" Richard confirmed again.

Betty had already moved all her belongings here as if she intended to live here permanently.

This troubled Richard.

Betty had been spoiled since she was little, and he was really afraid that he wouldn't be able to take care of her properly.

"I want beef flavored," Betty said, applying a face mask and sitting cross-legged on the couch. "And add an egg."

"Okay," Richard said helplessly.

"You look really attractive when you cook." Bored, Betty walked over barefoot and started teasing Richard.

Richard took a deep breath and reached out to hold Betty's wandering hand. "Be careful not to get burned."

"It's quite hot." Betty's hand reached into Richard's shirt and kept moving downwards.
Richard's ears instantly turned red, he felt that Betty was too bold.

"Who was begging for mercy last night?" Richard asked.

Betty always liked to flirt with him through words, but when it actually came to bed, she would get scared.

She slept with a man for the first time that night, but before that, she acted as if she had slept with countless men. When it truly began, she revealed her flaws.

His hand paused. Richard really wanted to ask Betty about it, but since she didn't say anything, Richard didn't ask.

"Richard, stop cooking noodles and eat me instead," Betty boldly tempted him.

Richard frowned and warned Betty not to behave recklessly.

"Richard," Betty repeated Richard's name over and over again.

Richard looked at her helplessly.

He never expected that he, who preferred quiet women, would eventually encounter such a captivating woman.

She was a woman specifically trying to seduce him.

"You eat first." Richard placed eggs on the noodles and cooked some vegetables, which looked quite delicious.

Betty's eyes were excited as she removed her face mask, washed her hands, and wanted to taste it quickly.

She believed that the noodles Richard cooked should taste very good.

"Exactly, this taste," Betty hurriedly took a bite and complimented Richard.

Richard sighed, got up, and helped her tie up her hair. "Do wealthy people like you also eat instant noodles?"

"For a period of time, I couldn't even afford instant noodles." Betty looked up, and half-jokingly said, "I drank rainwater outside the window when I was thirsty."

Richard was taken aback, feeling sorry for her, but couldn't distinguish which of Betty's statements were true and which were jokes.

"I never realized before that life is so good," Betty softly said, quickly finishing the noodles and burping.

"Richard, I'm too full." Betty patted her slightly swollen belly.

"Do I look pregnant?" Betty joked, "If I get pregnant now, the child would definitely be yours."

Richard directly stuffed a peeled apple into Betty's mouth, making her close her mouth.

There was a knock on the door from outside.

It sounded like the person outside was very anxious.

Richard frowned, motioned for Betty to stay seated, and walked to the door to carefully glance outside.

Surprisingly, it was Evan standing outside.

Probably because he couldn't reach the Wilson family, Evan came to find Richard.

"It's so late. Do you need something?" Richard opened the door and frowned at Evan.

"Serena is dying. She has been taken to the emergency room." Evan's breath hitched in his throat.

Richard's frown deepened, his eyes filled with complex emotions.

After all, he had lived with Serena for twenty-one years.

Even though he understood Serena's personality, Richard fell silent.

"Jasmine agreed to donate a kidney, but now she changed her mind. I can't find a suitable donor. You should go for a match. You owe it to Serena." Evan's voice was hoarse and sounded urgent.

In Evan's view, if Serena had always grown up in the Wilson Family, she wouldn't have ended up like this.

He believed that it was May and Jasmine who caused Serena to fall to this extent.

He believed that it was their fault.

Richard's expression darkened as he waited for a long time before saying, "If I match, will you let Jasmine go?"

"Come with me!" Evan didn't want to waste time talking to Richard.

Richard reached for his coat.

"Stop right there." Betty ran out and stopped Richard. "Where are you going?"

"I'm going to the hospital," Richard said quietly.

"I'm going too." Betty also grabbed her coat, put on her shoes, and followed Richard.

She knew she couldn't change Richard's mind, so she had to go with him personally.

"You don't owe Serena anything," Betty said on the way. "And if we have to point fingers at someone who owes Serena, it's your mother."

Richard tightened his grip on the steering wheel and remained silent.

May was his mother, and that was an unchangeable fact.

May was guilty, and he was guilty too.

He had to atone for his sins.

If donating a kidney could atone for his sins, he was willing to do it.

"Your kidney is mine now," Betty said again. "That's what you owe me."

Richard was stunned for a moment and looked at Betty.

She seemed to have tears in her eyes.

He thought that must be his illusion.

Meanwhile, at Capital Hospital, Serena had temporarily escaped from danger and was taken back to the intensive care ward.

"Get her surgery done as soon as possible," the doctor instructed Benjamin and Karen.

"My daughter, my poor daughter," Karen cried with wavering emotions. "It's all Jasmine's fault. She owes Serena, she owes my daughter."

"Evan ran over and supported Karen. "Mom, don't do this. Don't get too agitated. You should rest first."

"If you're capable, go bring Jasmine here!" Karen hysterically yelled at Evan. "You only defend Jasmine. She's not your sister, Serena is your sister!"

Evan's eyes turned red, and he lowered his head, gripping his hands tightly. "Mom, Jasmine has congenital heart disease. If she donates her kidney, she will die."

"Your sister will die too! It's gotten to this point, and you still care about Jasmine. The one lying in bed is your sister, your real sister, while Jasmine is pretending to be your sister!" Karen went crazy and shouted.

Evan held his hands tightly. "I've said it a long time ago, as long as there is a suitable kidney source, let Serena have the surgery first. It's you who insisted on having Jasmine donate her kidney. Jasmine has Ethan protecting her, what can you threaten her with?"

Karen went mad like a shrew. "Ethan, it's Ethan again! Howard will kick Ethan out of the Douglas family sooner or later! But I didn't expect Serena to fall ill now."
