Chapter 883 Rhett is just a scumbag
Rhett smiled. "Since you're not interested, I won't say more. Avery, don't worry about things outside."
Rhett stood up and left, while Avery's tightly clenched hands were trembling.
Rhett was like a wolf. Was he now targeting Edgar?
Avery knew she was using a very dangerous method and that Rhett was a very ambitious person.
She thought that as long as she didn't stay with Edgar and cooperated with Rhett, she could ensure that Edgar wouldn't get involved. As long as Rhett focused on getting the Hawthorne Group, he wouldn't easily target the Cunningham family again. But now it seemed his ambitions were not limited to that.
Rubbing her temples, Avery asked the manager beside her in a hoarse voice, "Has anyone named Edgar come to visit?"
The manager ignored her.
Avery frowned. She couldn't do anything now. Maybe she should trust Edgar. He wasn't as stupid and useless as he seemed. He could take care of himself and see through Rhett's intentions.
Avery knew that among the three Cunningham brothers, Edgar seemed the easiest to break and the easiest to manipulate, so those people would target Edgar first.
The casual approach Edgar adopts was a consequence of his privileged background. Thanks to his brothers, he didn't need to care about the company. However, a challenging situation could trigger immediate maturity.
The Murray Mansion.
In Rhett's villa in Silverlight City, faint cries could be heard.
Lyanna was trembling all over, hiding in a corner, raising her hands to protect her head.
Rhett came in from outside, took off his tie, and approached Lyanna step by step.
Lyanna was wearing a white camisole dress, with obvious bruises and swelling on her arms and back. She looked at Rhett, trembling. "Rhett, please spare me. I'll be obedient, I promise, please..."
"How many days has it been? Why hasn't Edgar contacted you yet?" Rhett squinted his eyes, standing in front of Lyanna. "Didn't you boast that you could definitely marry into the Cunningham family?"
Lyanna trembled uncontrollably, speaking in fear. "Rhett, he won't agree to marry me so quickly. Please wait. He will slowly fall in love with me."
"Love? A man's interest in a woman is just about sex. Do I need to teach you?" Rhett grabbed Lyanna's hair and dragged her to the bed. "Or do I need to check to see what's not perfect about you that makes Edgar not want to take responsibility after sleeping with you?"
Lyanna trembled all over, crying and shaking her head. "Rhett, please, I'm your sister."
Rhett was like a beast, appearing well-dressed in public but a scumbag, lunatic, and pervert in private.
He didn't even spare his own sister.
"Sister?" Rhett sneered, tying Lyanna's wrists with the tie and tightening it forcefully.
Lyanna cried out in pain. She knew too well what she was about to face.
She had resisted, run away since she was a child, but what followed was more severe punishment, degradation, and brainwashing.
She was just like Rhett's tool for venting in places where no one could see.
"Spare me, please..." Lyanna was still begging, her dress torn by Rhett.
In her resistance, Lyanna bit Rhett's hand.
Rhett gasped and slapped Lyanna hard on the face.
Her delicate face instantly swelled up.
"How dare you bite me?" Rhett's face twisted as he grabbed Lyanna's neck and slapped her again.
Lyanna was hit until she was dizzy, lying on the bed in despair, no longer struggling or resisting.
No one would come to save her, and begging for help was useless.
Just when Lyanna was in despair, her phone suddenly rang.
Rhett didn't want to pay attention at first, but when he glanced at it, he saw the caller ID was Edgar.
Rhett squinted his eyes, not wanting to miss this opportunity, and let Lyanna answer the phone.
Lyanna's hands were still tied, trembling as she tried to hold the phone but couldn't.
Rhett warned Lyanna, "You better control your emotions."
He helped Lyanna answer the call and put it on speaker.
"Where are you? At Rhett's house?" Edgar's voice was a bit cold.
"Yes..." Lyanna took a deep breath, trying not to sound like she was crying.
"I'm outside Rhett's house. I want to see you," Edgar said in a deep voice.
Lyanna tensed up, looking at Rhett in fear.
Rhett frowned.
"It's... it's too late. I'm already in bed," Lyanna said, trembling.
She really wanted to leave. She prayed in her heart that Edgar would insist a little longer, help her escape this dangerous place.
"Lyanna, aren't you pursuing me? I'm already downstairs at your place, and you want me to leave?" Edgar said. "Come out quickly, or get out of my world and never come to me again."
Lyanna looked at Rhett in fear.
Finally, Rhett nodded.
He was also afraid that Edgar didn't have much patience.
Lyanna trembled with excitement, speaking softly, "I'll... I'll come out right away."
She wanted to say more, but Rhett had already hung up the phone.
He smiled, changing his expression, gently untying the tie from Lyanna's wrists and tidying her hair. "Lyanna, only I love you the most. We will always be a family, sharing honor and disgrace. Do you understand?"
Lyanna nodded in fear.
"So, if Edgar asks about the injury on your face..." Rhett squinted his eyes, his words carrying a threat.
Lyanna tensed up, her eyes reddening. "I... I accidentally fell and hit myself."
Rhett nodded in satisfaction. "Go, perform well, and make sure to win him over."
Lyanna trembled as she got up, hurriedly hiding in the bathroom, squatting on the floor and crying for a long time.
After adjusting her emotions, Lyanna took a shower, changed her clothes, and hurried out.
Rhett stood by the floor-to-ceiling window upstairs, watching Lyanna leave, squinting his eyes and monitoring everything.
He seemed to enjoy the feeling of having everything under his control.
He believed that Edgar, a spoiled rich kid, would definitely lose to him.
He thought competing with Edgar was as easy as teasing a dog.
Outside, Edgar was getting impatient.
"Why is Lyanna taking so long?" Edgar complained. "My wife wouldn't take this long. She has a strong sense of time."
After saying that, Edgar felt deflated. Avery was now Rhett's wife.
In the back seat, Jasmine smiled. "If you're impatient, go down and scold her, but you can't leave."
"Rhett thinks he can perfectly control you, so let him continue with that illusion." Jasmine checked the time. "She should be out soon. If a girl is quick with showering and makeup, half an hour should be enough."
Sure enough, just as Jasmine finished speaking, Lyanna came out nervously.
Edgar got out of the car, cursing. "Why don't you come out tomorrow morning?"
Lyanna kept her head down, not speaking.
Edgar opened the car door for her. "Hurry up."
Lyanna got into the car with her head down, only to realize Jasmine was also there, making her nervous and wanting to get out.
"You need to think carefully. Either get out or cooperate with us. This is your last chance," Jasmine said calmly.
Lyanna's hand on the door handle froze for a moment. She took a deep breath, sat up straight, and didn't get out.
Jasmine raised an eyebrow, knowing Lyanna had made her choice.
