Chapter 618 Nolan Forces Amelia to Abort the Child
Amelia's eyes were red as she quietly took a seat.
"How old are you? Pregnant before marriage? Is this how the Carter family raises their kids?" Nolan snapped.
"What’s it to you?" Amelia mumbled, too scared to raise her voice.
Nolan scoffed, slammed the car door, and drove off with her. "First thing tomorrow, we're going to the hospital to get rid of this baby."
"This baby has nothing to do with you. I'm not getting rid of it," Amelia said, finding a bit of courage.
She was still young and rebellious. The more Nolan pushed, the more she dug in her heels.
"Are you out of your mind?" Nolan said, frustrated. "Your dad's done so many terrible things, especially to Nathaniel. You know that. Why do you think Nathaniel's even interested in you? Haven't you thought about it?"
With tears in her eyes, Amelia stubbornly replied, "Don't speak ill of him. He's a good person."
Nolan angrily slapped the steering wheel, making the horn blare and scaring Amelia into curling up.
"You're hopeless." Nolan thought she was beyond saving. He could've just ignored her, but for some reason, he felt the need to step in.
"Get rid of the baby, or your dad will rot in jail!" Nolan said harshly, knowing his words were cruel but saying them anyway.
He glanced in the rearview mirror, frowning.
Amelia stayed silent, tears streaming down her face. Nolan clenched his fists, swallowed hard, and shut his mouth in frustration.
Amelia, still quiet, looked for a chance to escape. She didn't want to get rid of the baby; she wanted to keep it.
When the car stopped in the yard, Nolan got out. As soon as the door opened, Amelia bolted.
Nolan sighed, watching her run to the door. "You really think running will help?"
"Nolan, I'm not getting rid of this baby. I'll call the cops on you." Amelia pounded on the door. "Let me out."
"Your dad can't threaten you anymore?" Nolan leaned against the car, smirking. "You think meeting Nathaniel was a stroke of luck?"
With red eyes, Amelia shot back, "Nathaniel is a thousand times better than you. Let me out, you jerk."
Nolan's face darkened. Amelia's defiance was pushing him to his limit.
"Alright, let's change the game." Nolan stood up straight and walked towards her.
Amelia, scared, pressed herself against the door, unsure of what he was planning.
"Do you think, with my connections, making Nathaniel disappear from the entertainment industry would be hard?" Nolan threatened in a low voice.
Since she wouldn't listen, he had to play dirty.
Amelia cried in anger, stubbornly biting her lip. "You're a bastard."
"Yeah, I am," Nolan grabbed her wrist and dragged her into the living room. "Go to bed. If you don't listen to me tomorrow, I'll make Nathaniel disappear."
Amelia trembled but couldn't fight back.
She was powerless against him.
Her family was a mess, her mom and brother had sold off her most cherished things. She was desperately trying to earn money to get back her grandmother's heirlooms. She had tried so hard to escape from Nolan, but he still wouldn't let her go.
"I've already escaped and stopped bothering you. Why can't you just let me go?" Amelia sobbed.
"Now you want to escape? Too late, Amelia." Nolan dragged her into the room and tossed her onto the bed. "If you need money, I can give it to you, but selling yourself for it is just pathetic."
Amelia, eyes red and puffy, tried to get away, but Nolan pinned her down again. "Don't make me mad. This baby can't stay, and I won't hesitate to sleep with you."
Terrified, Amelia curled up in pain, crying and turning her face away from him.
How could he be so heartless?
The phone rang, and Nolan finally let go of her, picking it up and heading to the living room.
"Mom," Nolan walked to the balcony, lit a cigarette, and answered the call.
"Nolan, you're not getting any younger. Do you have someone in mind?" Cordelia asked.
Nolan was at the age where he should be settling down. She worried his feelings for Fiona were more than just sibling affection.
Cordelia didn't blame Fiona and treated her like her own daughter, but Fiona was still his half-sister. Nolan shouldn't be forced into a forbidden relationship.
Edgar had mentioned that Nolan had even locked Fiona up for a while. Wasn't that outrageous?
"Mom, I have no plans to get married." Nolan rubbed his forehead.
"Our family doesn't need a business marriage, but the Cunningham Group is expanding to San Francisco and facing uncertainties. You've always been steady and believed in starting a family before building a career. Why not start a family first?" Cordelia tried to remind him, internally terrified.
Nolan was silent for a long time before speaking, "Okay, I understand."
"Then I'll introduce you to some suitable girls. We won't look at the family background, just if you like them," Cordelia quickly said, afraid her son would regret it.
She wanted to divert Nolan's attention from Fiona.
"Okay, I'll listen to you." Nolan agreed, glancing towards the main bedroom.
He and Amelia were impossible. Amelia was too young and too reckless. He admitted he had some feelings for her, but he knew such a woman was only for fun, not for marriage.
After hanging up, Nolan stood on the balcony for a long time, his mind filled with images of Amelia wanting to keep the child and holding hands with Nathaniel.
Cursing irritably, Nolan walked into the bedroom with a dark face.
Amelia was still crying, this time hiding in a corner, sitting on the floor and crying.
Nolan felt helpless, knowing he had scared her. He suppressed his anger and walked over. "Still crying? Go wash up and sleep."
Amelia didn't speak, hugging her legs and crying.
Her stomach kept growling; she was so hungry.
She hadn't eaten breakfast for a blood test, and her morning sickness was severe, so she hadn't eaten much lunch. Now, she was starving.
Nolan frowned, turned, and went to the kitchen. He opened the fridge, took out a pre-made meal, thought for a moment, and put it back, taking out fresh eggs and vegetables instead.
Making noodles for Amelia, Nolan felt he was acting strangely.
"Come out to eat," Nolan called Amelia.
Amelia sat in the corner, motionless, like a frightened, reactive kitten.
Nolan, helpless, walked over and grabbed Amelia's arm. Amelia bit Nolan's wrist, and her eyes were red. "Even if you know this child is yours, you have no right to make me abort it."
