Chapter 502 Kyle Is Impressive

As soon as Ethan entered the alley, he knew something was off. The main road was busy, but hardly any cars came through here. It was doubtful a car could even fit.

But as his car turned in, a few cars followed.

"Stop," Ethan said firmly.

The driver looked back, concerned. "Mr. Douglas, is there a problem?"

"Just stop for a bit." Ethan had the driver block the alley.

The cars behind stopped too, no honking or rushing.

Ethan chuckled; they were tailing him.

"How long have you been driving, Uncle?" Ethan asked.

"Before this, I was a race track coach," Kyle said with a sheepish grin. "Retired because of my age."

Ethan smirked. "Can you lose those cars in this alley?"

"No problem!" Kyle gripped the wheel, revving the engine. "But this luxury car might get scratched."

"If it gets wrecked, it's on me. Just drive," Ethan said, raising an eyebrow. "But be safe."

Holding Jasmine tighter, Ethan checked the seatbelt, then signaled Kyle to go.

Kyle turned on the hazard lights and honked while reversing.

The cars behind, not wanting to be obvious, also started to reverse.

Kyle took advantage, checked the map, shifted gears, and sped off.

By the time the cars behind reacted, Ethan's car was gone.

Kyle had driven through an unmarked alley on the GPS, with only a minor scratch on the car.

"Honey, I feel like throwing up," Jasmine woke up. The car was going too fast.

Ethan's eyes darkened; Howard was really pushing it.

"We're almost home," Ethan soothed.

Jasmine snuggled into Ethan's arms. "Okay."

Ethan held Jasmine, patting her back. "Good girl."

The car stopped at their community, and Kyle got out to open the door for Ethan.

Ethan smiled; he didn't know Kyle, recommended by Raymond, was so skilled.

He used to think Raymond and Edgar wasted time with racing, but now it seemed useful.

"Kyle, your bonus this month is doubled," Ethan said, getting out with Jasmine.

Kyle nodded excitedly. "Thank you, Mr. Douglas."

Ethan smiled; Howard was foolish.

Howard was ruthless, but his team was incompetent.

Compared to Howard, Ethan worried more about the mercenaries under Sophia.

Howard wasn't even a threat.

"Ethan," Jasmine clung to his neck, drunk and miserable. "They hit me, bullied me."

Jasmine was recounting her past six years.

Ethan's face darkened, holding Jasmine tighter. "I'm here. No one will hurt you again."

"Evan didn't help me," Jasmine said, not because of the darkness and suffering she endured.

She was no longer the Wilson heiress, nor was she hurt by Daniel's betrayal.

What she couldn't forget was her brother, who had treated her well for twenty-one years but suddenly hated her.

"Why did he treat me like that?" Jasmine clung to Ethan, crying.

If she hadn't been drunk, Jasmine might have buried all her thoughts forever.

Ethan carried Jasmine home, gently patting her back to comfort her.

At that moment, Ethan realized how much Evan meant to Jasmine as a brother.

When Evan was seriously injured, Jasmine wanted to visit him, but Ethan had refused, thinking Evan wasn't worth it.

Now, he felt he might have been wrong.

He carried the drunk Jasmine into the bathroom, cleaned her up, and put her to bed.

"Evan."

"Evan, why?"

Ethan got jealous hearing Jasmine call another man's name in her sleep.

So, while she was still drunk and dreaming, Ethan slept with her.

Jasmine was so clingy when drunk that Ethan didn't let her go until midnight.

"Connor, you were Jasmine's psychologist in prison. Should I let her see Evan?" Ethan called Connor.

"Mr. Douglas actually called me," Connor teased.

"Cut the sarcasm," Ethan snapped.

"I heard you had trouble today. Howard's after you, and Jasmine will get dragged into it. You can't protect her," Connor provoked.

Ethan was furious. "You think Silverlight City has no other good psychologists? Raymond's cousin Elbert is also a psychologist."

Connor chuckled. "Elbert's my junior; he doesn't understand Jasmine's condition."

"I'll tell him, and he'll know. Don't be so full of yourself," Ethan said, about to hang up.

He and Connor always ended up arguing.

"Do you really understand Jasmine?" Connor pushed. "I'll help, but get Tom out of my house!"

Ethan leaned back, smiling. "So you want to negotiate terms."

Connor gritted his teeth. "Try Elbert if you don't believe me."

With that, Connor hung up.

Ethan went to try Elbert.

At the Everhart family, Alex sat on the sofa, worried.

Evelina had been taking good care of Evan. He seemed to be cooperating and eating well, but he was getting thinner.

Alex noticed Evan would go to the bathroom to vomit after eating, and his health was deteriorating.

He wasn't cooperating with treatment or willing to recover properly.

"Evan looks thinner these past two days," Evelina said to Alex. "We have to do something."

"I've scheduled an appointment with a psychologist. They'll be here soon," Alex said, rubbing his temples.

Evan had been rejecting caregivers, so Alex had been doing everything himself. He hadn't slept well, always checking on Evan.

As a father, Alex was doing his best, even if it was a bit late.

Evelina saw this and felt conflicted.

She might get a divorce and leave.

"Evan has a strong sense of pride. If you tell him directly about seeing a psychologist, he'll resist," Evelina sighed.

"Get out, get out!" came the sound of things being thrown from Evan's room; he had lost control again.

He wasn't listening to anyone.

"There's one person who can make him behave and cooperate," Alex said nervously to Evelina. "You're Cordelia's daughter and Yasmine's godmother. If you step in, she will come to see Evan."
