Chapter 525 Claire Tortured Annabelle
Deborah quietly observed Jasmine's reactions. These minor setbacks were just tests to see Jasmine's breaking point. Deborah smirked. These people probably didn't know she had a minor in psychology, and she knew Jasmine had a serious mental illness.
"I asked for proof of my improper behavior at work. A colleague giving me a ride home isn't evidence. Did you find anything?" Jasmine retorted.
"You're really stubborn, huh? Still not admitting it?"
"Yeah, if it were me, I'd admit it," someone taunted, trying to provoke Samuel.
Samuel just smiled and touched his nose. "Yeah, if it were me, I'd admit it."
Ethan walked over with a stern face. "Why aren't you working? What's going on here?" he asked, frowning.
"Mr. Douglas, you're just in time. You have a rule against workplace relationship, and Jasmine and Samuel are in one but won't admit it," someone informed him.
Deborah watched, curious if Ethan would admit it. Probably not, she thought. If he did, either he or Jasmine would have to leave.
Ethan glanced at Jasmine. "She's not just in a relationship with a company employee; she's married."
Everyone looked at Jasmine in shock, then at Ethan. "Mr. Douglas, she's married?"
"She really is married."
"Is she messing around with Samuel even though she has a husband?" Rumors started flying.
"Jasmine is not only in a relationship with a company employee but also married to one," Ethan said, holding Jasmine's hand. Their wedding rings touched, clearly a pair.
Everyone was stunned.
Ethan continued, "What did you capture? A luxury car picking her up? That was me."
The accusers were dumbfounded. "Mr. Douglas, what?"
"But Mr. Douglas, you set the rule against internal relationships, so..." They were scared but spoke up.
"I set the rule, so I just submitted my resignation. Starting today, Samuel is the CEO of LY Group. We've already completed the handover," Ethan said, glancing at Samuel.
Samuel smiled and greeted everyone. "From now on, I'll be leading everyone forward."
Jasmine sighed, looking at Ethan helplessly. He had decided to go to Raymond. She had to keep an eye on Ethan.
Everyone was shocked, speechless.
"Alright, everyone disperse," Deborah said, frowning at Ethan. "Mr. Douglas, can we talk?"
Ethan let go of Jasmine's hand, rubbed her head, and walked ahead. Deborah followed. "What do you mean? You called me back to help you, and now you're leaving?"
Ethan replied, "First, I didn't call you back; you came on your own. Second, my leaving is the best choice for LY right now. If I stay, Howard will keep targeting LY. Third, you haven't been fully helping LY but scheming elsewhere. Don't take everyone for fools."
Ethan continued, "You helped me once, and I've repaid that favor. Now, we're just acquaintances. Jasmine is my wife, and I'll protect her, legally and morally. Got it?"
Ethan made it clear, warning Deborah. "You've worked hard for what you have. If you want to stay at LY, fine. If you want to leave, I won't stop you. Just don't make foolish decisions because you can't see the situation clearly."
Ethan reminded Deborah to cut her losses and that gambling rarely ends well. Her return to compete with Jasmine was the biggest gamble.
"What if I insist on gambling?" Deborah asked, unwilling to back down.
"You'll lose," Ethan sneered. "I won't let my woman lose. If you want to gamble, I'm ready."
As Ethan walked away, Deborah clenched her fists in frustration. 'Ethan, you're always so selfish and arrogant,' she thought.
"Who said I was gambling for love?" Deborah laughed. She knew love was futile and relying on a man was pointless. Competing for Ethan was just a cover. She wanted control of the Hawthorne family and the Silverlight City market.
Deborah smirked, playing with her phone. She had managed to get information from the Harper family and planted a virus in Ethan's computer, giving her access to everything he opened. What a pleasant surprise.
Jasmine came downstairs and got into Ethan's car.
"Off work, honey," Ethan smiled. "Here to pick up my wife."
"Did you solve the virus issue on your computer? Do you know who did it?" Jasmine asked.
Ethan raised an eyebrow. "No need to solve it; it's fine to leave it."
He had given Deborah a chance; she just didn't take it. That was her choice, and she had to bear the consequences. Greed and desire are indeed the deepest hells in a person's heart.
Jasmine was stunned, then looked at Ethan in surprise. "You..."
"She will reap what she sows," Ethan said, driving away.
In the basement of the Douglas family, Annabelle's voice was hoarse from daily torture by Claire, who was forcing her to reveal the information's whereabouts.
"I don't know, I really don't know," Annabelle cried, shaking her head, her hands numb from the pain.
Annabelle shouted, "You will be punished; you will go to hell. I won't let you go even if I die."
Claire sneered. "Continue."
The servant tied Annabelle to a chair and used a toothpick to stab her nail beds.
Annabelle fainted from the pain, only to be awakened by cold water. "I really don't know. I lied to you before. I don't have that information."
Claire's face darkened. "Bitch! If you don't have that information, you have no reason to live."
"You're crazy. Are you going to kill me?" Annabelle looked at Claire in horror.
"Do you think this is my first time killing someone? Bitch," Claire laughed maniacally. "You should have known your fate when you fought with me."
