Chapter 66 Justin Wants to See His Father, Henry
Jasmine's body was shaking violently.
What exactly was she supposed to request?
"Go to sleep." Henry let go of Jasmine, his voice now quite hoarse.
Terrified, Jasmine ran back to her room and forcefully closed the door.
Leaning in the corner, Jasmine slowly slid to the floor.
She bit her fingers hard; she couldn't control herself. Her hands became so numb that she couldn’t feel them anymore.
She had no idea what she should do. She still couldn't forget what she experienced that night.
It seemed like she could never escape that unforgiving hell.
Those people ruined her.
As Jasmine began pulling at her hair, her breathing became increasingly rapid.
Over the years, she had felt hatred, anger, and helplessness.
Why were they treating her like this? What had she done wrong?
What right did she have to choose? Why was everything retaliating against her?
She wanted to go crazy and seek revenge, to drag them all to hell together.
But why did her conscience always stop her?
Why did she have to be condemned? Why did she have to be sad? Why did she have to repeatedly deny herself retribution and think it was her fault that she had unjustly occupied Serena's life for twenty years? Was everything really her fault?
Did she truly bring all this torture upon herself?
Why did she have to compromise time and time again for her son and everyone else and do things she didn't want to do?
Why did she have to feel so exhausted all the time?
She longed for liberation.
When she fell ill, even breathing was hard for her. She felt like she was suffocating, and she desperately tried to save herself.
She was struggling to stay alive every day; she didn't want to die, but her body kept thinking of ways she could die automatically.
What was she supposed to do?
Who could come to save her?
Curling up her body forcefully, Jasmine continued to tightly pull at her hair.
No one could save her; everyone seemed more inclined to trample on her, casting her further into the abyss.
In that darkness, she knew she would find no light.
No one would ever reach out to her.
Her phone rang; it was Richard calling.
Jasmine's fingers stiffly slid across the screen, but she struggled to make a sound.
Her fingers were numb; it was like her hands were frostbitten.
Tears fell on the screen, and her phone became even more sluggish.
Jasmine broke down, wiped the phone on her body, and answered slowly, "Richard..."
Struggling to contain her overwhelming emotions, Jasmine's voice became incredibly hoarse, but she couldn't let Richard worry.
"Jasmine, have you slept?" Richard asked softly.
"Not yet..."
"The people from the hospital called today and said Justin's condition is not serious. They will observe him for a while and when he's older, he can choose to have a minor surgery. We still have time to save money, so don't make yourself miserable."
Richard wanted to tell Jasmine to come back and that she shouldn’t do things that made her unhappy.
In fact, Richard could guess why the hospital suddenly became so attentive, even the director personally called him.
Jasmine must have found Justin's biological father, who must be a man of significant influence and status.
"Richard..." Jasmine took a deep breath and smiled. "It's okay, for now... I can't go back, and I'll still send you my salary monthly."
"Jasmine." Richard fell silent, then spoke again. "Who is it?"
He wanted to know who Justin's father was.
"Henry..." Jasmine looked up, trying hard to hold back her tears.
Richard fell silent once again.
Henry.
Richard remembered him; he was a man on par with Ethan.
Five years ago, at the trial, Henry was also present.
"The tricks of the rich...We can't play along with them. Jasmine, I can support you now; I work as a bodyguard in the Ryan family and have a monthly salary of thirty thousand. I can support both of you." Richard wanted Jasmine to come back.
What good could come out of her staying with Henry; she’d suffer at his hands.
"Richard, I can't come back for now. Emma needs help here; you take care of Justin and take care of yourself too." Jasmine bit her finger hard.
Money was not the reason why she didn’t want to return. She was worried that the Wilson Family and the Douglas Family would torment her once again.
As long as the Wilson Family and Daniel didn't harm Justin, it was okay for her to stay hidden for a while.
"Is Henry... treating you well?" Richard had already guessed that Jasmine was with Henry.
"He... treats me quite well." Jasmine thought for a moment, then spoke again. "Really well, actually. Henry... As long as you go along with what he wants, he's quite generous."
She still remembered how Henry pursued her back then, money was truly no issue for him. He’d often say that he would gift her a few million worth of jewelry, and he did.
However, after living as a wealthy heiress in the Wilson Family for twenty years, it was difficult for her values to be distorted by money.
Jasmine could also understand why Evan was so determined to destroy her, to ruin everything about her.
It was because Evan knew that all her success was because she had grown up as a Wilson.
So, he believed the Wilson Family had the right to take it all back.
"Don't endure hardships, just come back." Richard didn’t have the ability to protect his sister; he didn't know what he could do.
"Okay..." Jasmine was a bit nervous. "Is Justin... asleep?"
Richard walked into the room and called out to Justin. "Mom's on the phone."
"Mom! I miss you so much." Justin ran over joyfully to speak with Jasmine. "Mom, Uncle Liam bought me lots of toys and snacks; Dad asked him to buy them for me. I didn't want them at first, but since Dad bought them, I want to keep them."
Justin was seeking Jasmine's opinion.
Jasmine could sense that Justin had a genuine fondness for Ethan.
"Oh, did Mr. Douglas send Uncle Liam to come visit you, Justin?" Jasmine choked up as she softly spoke with tenderness and a bit of happiness in her crying voice. "It must be because you are so adorable, no wonder he likes you."
Justin was excited. "Mom, I also like Dad."
"Mom, when are you coming back? I miss you so much."
"Mom, Dad said he's also going to Boston. Are you together?"
Jasmine curled up in the corner, trembling all over.
Biting her fingers hard, Jasmine struggled to speak, "Um... I'm with him now."
For some reason, she lied to her son.
Justin was clearly surprised.
"Really?! Mom, I miss Dad too." Justin was now a bit excited. "Can I talk to Dad?"
"Justin..." Jasmine thought for a long time, then spoke, "Ethan isn't your dad, but... I'm with your real dad now."
On the other end of the phone, Justin fell silent.
After a moment, Justin spoke, "Is Dad strong? Can he protect you, Mom?"
Jasmine took a deep breath. "Yes..."
"Can I meet Dad then?" Justin was somewhat hopeful.
Jasmine was stunned for a moment, and her heart involuntarily tightened.
Justin wanted to see Henry, but did Henry want to see Justin?
"Mom... ask Dad for his opinion, okay?" Justin seemed disappointed.
Justin then finally spoke in a childish tone again, "Mom, it's okay if Dad doesn't want to see me; I only need you, Mom. Uncle can protect us."
Jasmine was silent for a very long time.
After calming Justin to sleep, Jasmine hung up the phone, gathered her courage, and opened the door to see if Henry was asleep.
Henry was still sitting in the living room, apparently not intending to sleep.
"Aren't... you going to sleep?" Jasmine hid behind the grille and asked.
"Come over." Henry answered in his low voice after noticing that Jasmine hadn't slept either.
Jasmine walked over and poured him a glass of warm water.
"What's up?" Henry could tell that Jasmine had something on her mind.
"Can... I make a request?" Jasmine looked cautiously at Henry.
Henry straightened up. "You can make any request you want."
"Can... you meet Justin?" Jasmine nervously looked at Henry, quickly waving her hand. "I don't mean... I don't mean that you should recognize Justin as your son; it's just... he wants to see his dad... I... I'm not..."
