Chapter 690 Is Edgar Fighting for Control of the Cunningham Group?

Owen's so-called charity, funding a young boy's education, was exposed and instantly became a hot topic.

This was an absolute scandal, one that the Hawthorne family found difficult to suppress.

Owen was going crazy at home, and the low pressure made his subordinates investigate who had leaked the information.

He had always been a cautious person, and very few people knew his secrets.

Someone close to him must have betrayed him. The photos revealed online were all taken from angles that only insiders could have captured!

He thought, 'Great, just great.'

"Sir, we found out that the Cunningham family and the Raymond Group are involved in this. And the trend is not dying down. It's clearly related to that Yasmine," Marcus said nervously.

Jasmine was trying to push Owen into the spotlight, leaving him no ability or energy to continue targeting the Douglas Group.

"Yasmine!" Owen gritted his teeth.

The phone rang, and Jasmine happened to call Owen at that moment.

"Owen, did you receive the New Year's gift I sent you? You see, New Year should be lively and bustling, unlike my home, which is so quiet," Jasmine said calmly.

It infuriated Owen.

Owen's face changed, and he gritted his teeth. "What exactly do you want?"

Jasmine laughed. "Aren't you curious about where I got these things?"

Owen didn't speak; Jasmine's call was definitely not without ulterior motives.

"Mark and I made a deal. He gave me these things in exchange for me signing a letter of understanding to get Daniel out," Jasmine said calmly, laughing as she continued. "Owen, some people know too many of your secrets."

Mark wanted to use Jasmine to eliminate Owen, but she planned to use Owen to eliminate Mark first.

No matter if Mark would become a big threat, as long as there was a potential threat, it was better to eliminate it first.

"Don't be too arrogant. Walk too many nights without protection, and you'll meet ghosts." Owen threatened, trying to scare Jasmine.

Jasmine laughed. "I am a ghost. Why would I be afraid of them?"

Owen was infuriated by Jasmine, snorted, and hung up the phone.

"Sir!" The butler ran in from outside. "Brian wants to see you. He must have seen the news."

Owen's face turned even darker. Brian's health was poor, and he was almost isolated from external information in the nursing home. How did he find out?

"Who went to see him?" Owen asked in a deep voice.

"Connor. Last night, our people were sent away, saying Connor went to the nursing home."

Owen's face grew even darker.

Connor?

He would never allow anyone to ruin his plans or hinder his progress.

Did they think finding Brian would stop him from targeting the Douglas family? Impossible!

"The nursing home said Brian wants to make his will public."

Owen clenched his fists, veins bulging.

A single Jasmine could throw the Hawthorne family into chaos! Great!

Receiving Connor's call, Jasmine lowered her voice and asked, "Have you thought it through?"

Yesterday, she called Connor to get him to return to the Hawthorne family to fight for the inheritance and shares.

Connor originally didn't want to participate in any of the Hawthorne family's disputes; he just wanted to be a psychologist.

But for Jasmine, he agreed.

First, get rid of Owen, and then deal with the rest slowly.

With Owen's scandal spreading, the Hawthorne Group would definitely go through a chaotic struggle.

"Brian already knows about Owen's scandals and is very angry. He almost had a heart attack last night," Connor said calmly.

Jasmine was stunned for a moment, then clenched her phone and lowered her head. "Sorry."

She shouldn't have dragged so many people into this.

"No need to apologize. He was part of the game from the beginning. The schemes against the Douglas family back then couldn't have happened without his involvement. Besides, the Hawthorne family hasn't fallen apart all these years because the power and the largest shares are still in Brian's hands."

Brian was not a simple man.

Jasmine was silent for a long time. "It's not that I feel sorry for him. You're right; he was part of the game from the start. But you've done so much to escape the game, yet I've dragged you back in."

Jasmine now probably understood Connor's good intentions.

He was teaching her how to grow, how to thrive, how to develop sharp thorns and armor.

Connor laughed. "I'm also part of the game; I can't escape."

Jasmine was silent again.

"What about Ethan? Get him back quickly. The security door can't even keep him in. I'm telling on him; he used his charm to seduce a young nurse at the hospital to open the door for him." Connor revealed about Ethan.

If Ethan were still around, he would definitely be howling on the other end of the phone.

But Jasmine's side was very quiet. "He left?"

Jasmine nodded. "He left about twenty minutes ago."

Connor was silent for a long time before speaking. "Let's hang up for now."

Clearly, it was unusual for Ethan not to have reached the private hospital in twenty minutes.

At Coast Cafe, Edgar sat by the floor-to-ceiling window, watching Deborah walk in. "You asked me out, what's up?"

"You should have guessed why I called you out, right? Otherwise, you wouldn't have come," Deborah said, sitting across from Edgar and smiling. "You know too little about Avery. I can help you understand her more comprehensively."

Edgar sneered. "I can understand her myself. Do I need to learn from you?"

Deborah smiled meaningfully. "If you really didn't want to learn from me, you wouldn't have come at all."

Deborah seemed very confident, confident that even if Avery didn't marry anyone, she wouldn't marry Edgar. "She won't marry you. In her eyes, it's all about benefits and value, and you can't give her what she wants."

Deborah placed a few photos on the table. "See these? These are the ideal husband candidates our good father has chosen for us. We have to choose one of them for a marriage alliance."

Edgar frowned, looking at the photos. They were indeed all firstborn sons of prestigious families or heirs of wealthy families.

Owen wanted, just like the Harper family back then, to use his daughters to bind absolute benefits and value.

"You don't need to be the firstborn, but you must control the Cunningham family shares and the Cunningham Group. You have to be in charge," Deborah said with a faint smile, looking at Edgar. "Avery has been a strong-willed woman since she was a child. She always wants to compete with me. If I choose one of these men to marry, she must marry someone better than me. Nolan is indeed the best choice."

Edgar threw the photos on the table and said in a deep voice, "So if I get control of the Cunningham Group, your dad will agree to let her marry me?"

"My dad wants to meet you," Deborah said with a smile. "He's entangled with some trivial matters and scandals, so he sent me first. That's his intention. As long as you take control of the Cunningham Group, he will definitely let Avery marry you."
