Chapter 677 He Is One of the Culprits Who Ruined Her

"Jasmine."

"Jasmine."

Probably in extreme pain, Ethan kept calling Jasmine's name in a semi-conscious state.

When Connor entered the treatment room, the bed was stained red with Ethan's blood.

He was lying on the bed, gripping the sheets tightly.

"Ethan, she's waiting for you. Waiting for you to accompany her to the prenatal checkups; waiting for you for every Christmas to come."

"You have to hold on."

"She's waiting for me." Ethan's voice was very weak.

He knew Jasmine was waiting for him.

He had to hold on.

After sleeping on the couch at the Douglas Group, Jasmine woke up at dawn, determined to handle the numerous tasks at the company and to hold on despite the pressure to give up.

She had to solve all the obstacles and protect the Douglas Group before Ethan returned.

Bradley knocked and entered.

Jasmine glanced at Bradley and rubbed her temples. "What's up?"

"Let's talk about Howard," Bradley said, as if summoning the courage.

Jasmine frowned. "He's already dead. What's the point to talk about?"

"I don't know much about Howard. I've seen him quite a few times, but definitely not every day. My mom told me when I was very young that my dad had a family and kids, and I was just hers."

Bradley lowered his head, remained silent for a while, and then spoke again, "I once overheard him arguing with my mom. He said he wanted to take me and my mom back to San Fransisco. My mom disagreed, saying William would never acknowledge my existence. Howard went crazy and said he had no right to disagree, didn't he have one himself?"

Jasmine's body stiffened, and she looked up sharply at Bradley.

This was the key point.

"William has an illegitimate child? He was famous for loving his wife. After she died, many people advised him to remarry, but he refused and publicly stated he would never marry again. Is that also a lie?" Jasmine frowned at Bradley. "Think carefully. If what you're saying is false, you're slandering your grandfather."

William left a will, leaving everything to Ethan. Would such a grandfather have a lover and an illegitimate child?

"I'm not sure either. I've had people investigate. William was indeed clean after marriage, and there's no evidence to prove he had an illegitimate child. I can't be sure if Howard was lying." Bradley was just speculating but felt he should tell Jasmine.

What if it helped?

Jasmine was silent. This was a clue. "I understand. I'll look into it."

If William really had an illegitimate child, then everything would make sense.

An illegitimate child fought for the inheritance and plotted against the Douglas family.

Eliminate Howard and Ethan, and then this illegitimate child would appear?

But so far, there was no news of this illegitimate child.

What was the truth?

"Go rest. If you trust me, I'll handle the company's matters," Bradley said softly.

Jasmine didn't respond. She was always wary of Bradley and found it hard to let her guard down completely.

Bradley sighed, knowing Jasmine wouldn't trust him, and turned to leave.

"Ben, check what Bradley just said."

Ben nodded.

Lily entered the apartment carrying a bunch of stuff, exhausted.

"Can't you help me? All you do is play games," Lily complained, looking at Xavier lying on the bed playing games.

"Why so many packages?" Xavier had lost the initial ruthlessness and coldness he had when he met Lily, but his demeanor was still distant.

"We're celebrating Christmas. Things are cheap now, so I bought more," Lily said flatly, ignoring Xavier and heading straight to the kitchen.

"I got you something." Xavier pushed a gift box forward, continuing to play his game indifferently.

Lily glanced at the gift box. "For me? I don't need it."

Seeing Lily didn't want it, Xavier frowned. "It's not expensive."

Lily remained silent, took the gift box into the bathroom, and leaned against the door.

Would he really give her something?

How ridiculous.

She wanted to see if a cold-blooded person like him would meet his end when he fell in love.

Clenching her fists tightly, Lily held back her tears until her palms were pierced.

"Is Quesadillas okay?" Taking a deep breath, Lily walked out of the bathroom and asked softly.

Xavier frowned. "Quesadillas again."

Though displeased, he didn't refuse.

Lily didn't pamper him either and made Quesadillas directly.

Xavier walked to the kitchen, leaning against the door frame, watching Lily busy. "Have we met somewhere before?"

Xavier couldn't remember where he had seen Lily before, but she looked familiar.

Lily sneered inwardly.

Yeah, he couldn't possibly remember the ant he trampled underfoot.

When she was being abused like a rag by those people, he just watched coldly.

She still had the video from that time. Did he want to see it?

Did he want to see how cold he was back then?

He was more disgusting than those who laid hands on her!

Her body trembled slightly, and Lily chuckled. "We often ran into each other at school."

Xavier raised an eyebrow, not overthinking much. Many women liked him at school. In his eyes, Lily was crying and begging to be with him for three months because she liked him as well.

"Didn't you like me? And you make me eat this every day?" Xavier was very dissatisfied with eating Quesadillas every day. "You're too perfunctory. You used to make other food when I first moved in."

He was now being hunted and had no choice but to hide in her small apartment.

"I don't like you that much anymore." Lily looked seriously at Xavier, playing hard to get. "After spending time with you, I found you're very lazy, expecting everything to be done for you. I want a boyfriend, not to be someone's maid. Those shining points on you are all gone for me. So don't worry, I won't cling to you anymore."

Xavier's face darkened, looking at Lily unhappily. "Don't like me anymore?"

Grabbing Lily's wrist, Xavier pinned her against the wall. "At least in bed, I satisfy you, right? Isn't your body honest?"

Lily's body trembled, biting her lip to hold back. "Don't go too far."

"What's with you these days?" Xavier noticed Lily had been cold and distant recently, which annoyed him.

"Yesterday, when we went shopping, you saw your friends. Why did you make me come back? Were you afraid I'd embarrass you?" Lily questioned.

Xavier let go of Lily and rubbed his temples.

Those weren't his friends; they were the ones trying to kill him.

"Lily, you saved me. I agreed to stay with you for three months as a deal. Do you think I'd take someone who sleeps around with men to meet my friends?" Xavier's words were harsh.

But Lily's reputation at school was indeed bad. Many said they had slept with her.

But Xavier didn't know he was one of the culprits who ruined her.
