Chapter 740 Everything Is Coming to an End
Jasmine was puzzled and whispered, "Did Juniper invited Connor?"
Ethan nodded and whispered in Jasmine's ear, "Didn't they say Tom could bring his girlfriend or boyfriend?"
Jasmine awkwardly pinched Ethan.
Over there, Tom scratched his head, wanting to explain, but then heard Connor speak with a sullen face, "What kind of gifts does your mom like?"
Tom took a deep breath and held back, "My mom likes Cullinan."
Connor gave a sarcastic smile, "She has quite the trendy taste."
Tom grinned obsequiously, "Connor, you have so many nice cars in your garage, wouldn't you mind adding a Cullinan? If you buy it, I'll be your driver."
Connor looked at Ethan, "Do you have obsession with Cullinan?"
Jasmine was also curious why Tom was so determined to save up or scam money to buy a Cullinan.
"Because the first car his dad bought him wasn't expensive. When he was at a bar, a woman hit on him, and her boyfriend blocked his car and scolded him, saying he should drive a Cullinan if he wanted to compete for women. Then they got into a fight, and Tom ended up in jail. I bailed him out, and since then, he's been pestering me to get him a Cullinan, saying that guy drove one." Ethan explained Tom's tragic past.
Connor nodded, looking at Tom with sympathy, "His brain must be full of crap."
With that, he shut the door and locked it from the inside.
Tom, bewildered, knocked on the door, seeing that Connor had no intention of opening it. He turned to Ethan for help, "Ethan, I'm homeless. Can I stay at your new place?"
"No way." Ethan shut the door and changed the password, leading Jasmine away.
Tom stood pitifully in the hallway, like an abandoned dog.
Jasmine tugged at Ethan and whispered after the elevator doors closed, "Is it okay? I don't think Connor intends to let him in."
"With that strong body, he won't die sleeping in the hallway." Ethan raised an eyebrow.
Jasmine thought Ethan was being harsh on Tom, "Do you have a grudge against Tom?"
"Yes." Ethan thought for a moment, remembering how Tom had treated Jasmine poorly before.
The most unforgivable thing was that Tom had once pursued Jasmine, an offense that could not be easily forgiven.
Jasmine sighed and rubbed her belly, "Is the baby getting restless because he know he is coming out soon?"
"Baby, you need to behave. You can't bully my wife, or I'll have to spank you when you're out." Ethan squatted down and gently spoke to the baby in Jasmine's belly.
Jasmine chuckled, "Can he understand?"
"Of course he can." Ethan said confidently.
Jasmine smiled warmly, looking at Ethan under the streetlight.
This feeling was dreamy yet real, very heartwarming.
It was six years ago, Jasmine found herself alone and pregnant, having to go into hiding, always feeling the stares and whispers whenever she went out.
She was like a street rat, hiding in alleys, even picking up vegetable leaves from the roadside to eat.
At that time, Jasmine thought having a child was a painful thing.
It was the most terrifying period of her dark life.
But now, Ethan had warmed all the coldness of the past six years.
She had him to rely on.
"Let's go home." Ethan held Jasmine's hand and got in the car.
Jasmine nodded and was about to get in when she saw a car window roll down by the roadside, revealing Vincent.
Vincent smiled and looked at the top floor, "Celeste said that apartment is reserved for me."
"Are you crazy?" Ethan frowned and helped Jasmine into the car.
Vincent smugly waved a key card, "How can you not believe me? This building is a twin tower. See the top floor of the other one? It's mine, a gift from Celeste."
Ethan ignored Vincent.
"Celeste treats me like her own son." Vincent added.
Ethan still ignored him and got in the car to leave.
"Ethan, I really envy you." Vincent said to himself.
Ethan drove away, and Vincent hasn't left yet.
"That apartment is indeed a gift from Celeste to him." Jasmine said, "Celeste really sees Vincent as her own son, not just out of guilt."
Ethan still didn't speak, so Jasmine didn't bring it up again.
As soon as they reached the apartment complex, Brandon called, "Bradley and Vincent are in trouble."
Ethan frowned, "What happened? I saw Vincent taunting me in his car just ten minutes ago."
"That lunatic drove off, and the police and ambulance couldn't catch up. Did he come to you?" Brandon cursed, "Crazy."
"What happened?" Ethan rubbed his temples.
"The Douglas Group has been ruined. Mark's defenses over the years were easily breached by Vincent. Those illegitimate children and rich kids he controlled turned against him. The Douglas Group has collapsed." Brandon sighed, "Vincent is indeed a genius."
Ethan said nothing.
"He came back at just the right time. Everything seems to be planed." Brandon continued.
It seemed like every step of Vincent's return, his move, and his actions were all perfectly planned, there's not a single deviation.
And Mark was no match for Vincent.
It turned out that the person behind Vincent was also very formidable.
"Mark is desperate. A few people under Sophia followed him. He had people try to kill Vincent and Bradley out of spite. Bradley was hit by a car and is still in surgery. Vincent was hit and then stabbed, but they were prepared. They timed it so the police arrived just in time to arrest everyone. Mark can't escape this time." Brandon said.
Ethan still said nothing.
"The ambulance is waiting downstairs. Vincent is covered in blood but drove off himself. He's a madman." Brandon was helpless.
"I know." Ethan said calmly.
"Ethan." Brandon's voice softened, "Did you already guess?"
Ethan remained silent.
"Mark is now wanted by the police. Daniel was smart this time and left the country early, not getting involved. I don't think Mark can escape." Brandon continued.
Mark spent his whole life scheming, manipulating Howard, and ultimately both ended up in the same predicament.
Evil deeds will be punished, he won't have a good end.
Claire was also sentenced to death, which she deserved.
"Did Jasmine tell you about the kidnapping incident being covered up back then?" Brandon hesitated.
Ethan remained silent.
In fact, from the day Ethan gave up the Douglas Group, he had already guessed the truth.
Otherwise, he would never have given up anything from the Douglas family.
