Chapter 692 Connor Fights for the Family Inheritance for Jasmine

Amelia's eyes reddened for a moment, and she reluctantly raised her hand to hug his neck. "Do whatever you want!"

Nolan felt a headache coming on and sighed at her demeanor.

Could he really go through with it?

Lying down irritably beside her, Nolan pulled up the blanket to cover Amelia. "Sleep."

Pulling her into his arms, Nolan spoke in a muffled voice, "Are you still going shopping tomorrow?"

Amelia didn't respond, realizing that she couldn't go tomorrow. Shopping too frequently would definitely make Nolan worry about the money.

"I'll go with you tomorrow." Nolan, for once, thought about accompanying a girl shopping.

Amelia was stunned for a moment, her body stiffening as she looked at Nolan suspiciously. "Is the Cunningham Group going bankrupt?"

Nolan said, "Not yet."

"Is your brother fighting you for the inheritance?" Amelia couldn't find any other reason for Nolan's sudden desire to go shopping with her.

Nolan took a deep breath. "Soon."

Amelia asked again, "Have you been kicked out of the house?"

"Almost," Nolan said, pressing Amelia's head against his chest. "Be good; sleep."

That night, Amelia couldn't sleep. Was it because she spent too much money, and now he was broke?

Deborah went home, and Owen was lying in the bedroom, inhaling oxygen.

"Did you get rid of him?" Owen was referring to Mark.

"I've already contacted Sophia, and she's sent someone to take care of him." Deborah nodded.

Owen also nodded. "Make sure she does it cleanly, not just takes the money."

Sophia charged quite a bit, and he wouldn't agree if she didn't get the job done.

"Don't worry. She has a lot of mercenaries in Muskow, and her people are reliable," Deborah said, peeling an orange for Owen. "Dad, I've already contacted Edgar. He's just a spoiled brat. But to marry Avery, he's agreed to meet with you. He does have some ambition and should compete with Nolan for control of the Cunningham Group."

Owen smirked. "Good."

Jasmine thought that by collaborating with Mark and using a bit of scandal, she could bring him down? How naive.

He would show Jasmine that he was more formidable.

She dared to use public opinion; he could make the Cunningham family fall into trouble.

Owen thought, 'Jasmine is just a daughter of the Cunningham family. Does she really think she was that powerful without Ethan? Overestimating herself.'

Owen's phone rang.

He glanced at it, his face darkening, and said, "Alright. You go out first."

Deborah gave Owen's phone a suspicious look but said nothing and left.

"Hello?"

On the other end, a voice altered by a voice changer said, "Idiot!"

Owen was taken aback and nervously replied, "I'll suppress the online rumors."

"Rumors are nothing; Ethan isn't dead," the voice on the other end said in a low tone.

"Not dead? Didn't you say?" Owen's face changed.

"But now he's completely dead," the person on the other end said confidently.

"You got rid of him?" Owen breathed a sigh of relief.

"I've already contacted someone left behind by the Hamilton family. He intends to take everything that belonged to Ethan, and we can use each other."

Owen was in a good mood. "As expected, you're still the best."

The voice on the other end said in a low tone, "Don't let your guard down. Jasmine is not as simple as you think."

"I've already sent people to sow discord within the Cunningham family. Soon, they will be in chaos," Owen said in a deep voice.

"That's good. Once they were in chaos, we could launch the final assault on the Douglas family."

The person behind the scenes wanted to deal a heavy blow to the Douglas Group.

"Don't worry. Everything is going according to plan," Owen said with a smirk.

"Stick to the plan."

As the other party was about to hang up, Owen quickly spoke again, "Are you sure Ethan is really dead this time?"

"Do you still doubt my work? Ethan suffered extensive burns to his body and face in the fire, secretly left the hospital to see Jasmine, and was killed by my people on the way back. His body has already been dumped into the sea," the person on the other end said coldly.

This time, it was handled very cleanly.

"That's good," Owen said, hanging up the phone with a smile.

With Ethan completely dead, there were no more worries.

As for the Hamilton family card, if used well, it would be Jasmine's trump card; if not, it would be her downfall.

It was time to launch a full-scale assault on the Douglas Group.

Let's see how long Jasmine can hold out.

"Today, Connor went to see Marshall again. He's a psychologist and always manages to make Marshall happy. I think he is considering giving his shares to Connor."

Owen snorted. "Give them to him? No way."

Narrowing his eyes, Owen sneered. "I have dirt on Connor."

Connor had always avoided getting involved in the Hawthorne family inheritance battle because Owen had made thorough preparations.

Connor had lived with Owen when he was a child.

That was Connor's hell.

In fact, Connor studied psychology for himself and for Ethan.

Back then, living with Owen, Connor had suffered great trauma and developed psychological issues. He stayed away from the Hawthorne family to protect himself.

But for Jasmine, he came back and decided to fight Owen.

He knew that as long as he came back and fought, it would be like repeatedly hurting himself with past events.

But even so, Connor came back to fight.

He wanted to leave Owen with no way out.

This was the punishment he deserved.

"Dr. Hawthorne, it's after hours. Aren't you leaving?" the nurse asked.

Connor snapped back to reality and nodded. "You go ahead."

The nurse left, leaving Connor alone in his psychology clinic.

He lay down on the treatment chair, quietly lying there.

That day, Jasmine asked him why he had come back when he had always wanted to escape.

He said he was part of the game; it was fate, and he couldn't escape it.

Indeed, he couldn't escape it.

Physician, heal thyself.

He desperately wanted to save Jasmine, and in doing so, he was also saving himself.

He wanted to see the hope of living and healing himself by healing Jasmine.

He saw hope in Jasmine and Ethan, but when it came to himself, he still felt empty.

Love can heal everything, but he lacked love the most.

Ethan and Jasmine were each other's salvation.

But he had none.

Connor felt loveless and unworthy, even though he knew he loved Jasmine and wasn't good enough for her.

From the beginning, he wanted to send her to Ethan, believing Ethan was right for her chaotic life.

Lying on the treatment chair, Connor wanted to heal himself. He drifted into a deep sleep, not knowing how long he had slept.

"You don't go home, cook for me, and fall asleep here? Listen up, if I couldn't find you and couldn't reach you, I would have called the police."

Connor was having a nightmare when a voice suddenly interrupted him, jolting him awake.

Tom stood angrily at the clinic door, his face stern. "Can't you sleep at home? You sleep here? What if you catch a cold?"
