Chapter 879 Raymond Got the Wife He Desired
Fresh out of bed, Raymond seized the moment, pushing Lisa to get her driver's license, and then they went straight to get their marriage certificate.
They got the certificate just before City Hall closed.
"Once we get the certificate, there's no turning back," Raymond said smugly, holding the marriage certificate in his hand.
Lisa looked around and whispered, "Let's keep our marriage a secret for now, don't let others know, it's quite embarrassing."
She had been divorced once and now married to Raymond, she felt quite embarrassed.
"Marrying me is embarrassing?" Raymond got angry again.
Lisa quickly coaxed him. "I just need some time to adjust. I said to get the certificate later, but you didn't listen. Now that we have it, you have to listen to me and keep it a secret for now..."
Raymond snorted, got in the car, and ignored Lisa.
Lisa followed him and started coaxing him. "Raymond, you can't get angry so easily."
Raymond ignored Lisa, reached out, and snatched the marriage certificate from her hand, acting very proud.
Lisa found it amusing but understandable. Raymond, indulged from a privileged upbringing, simply had that kind of personality.
Although he got angry and jealous easily, Raymond was also easy to coax.
When the driver wasn't paying attention, Lisa kissed Raymond on the cheek, and he was coaxed.
Raymond raised his hand to hold Lisa and pulled her into his arms. "Call me honey."
Lisa couldn't bring herself to say it.
She had been married to Jordan for so many years and never called him that. She just wasn't the type to act coquettishly.
"Will you say it or not? If not, I won't go back to the hospital," Raymond threatened.
Lisa had no choice and whispered, "Honey..."
What else could she do? They had a life-and-death relationship, and now they were legally married, she had to pamper him.
"I can't hear you," Raymond said, unable to suppress his smile.
"Honey," Lisa said again, covering her face.
"I can't hear you," Raymond pushed his luck.
"Honey..." Lisa decided to pamper him this time.
Raymond was very satisfied, hugged her tightly, and took a photo of the marriage certificate, sending it to their friends' group chat.
In the group chat were Ethan, Richard, Steven, and others.
When Raymond sent the marriage certificate, Steven was the first to reply: [Who got married?]
Raymond smiled: [Me.]
Steven was confused: [Who did you marry?]
Raymond replied: [My wife.]
Ethan chimed in: [The bitter plan worked?]
Raymond replied: [Thanks to your guidance, I'll give you a big gift at the wedding.]
Sure enough, Raymond's bitter plan, along with his mom's intervention, was Ethan's idea.
[No problem.]
Richard replied: [Congratulations.]
The car pulled up to the hospital. As Raymond got out, he saw Genevieve looking grim and Samuel with a look that said, "You're in trouble."
"Raymond, you're hospitalized, how can you run around?" Samuel said smugly, adding fuel to the fire. "If it were me, I wouldn't run around. I would definitely listen to mom and rest properly."
Raymond was in a good mood today and didn't want to argue with him.
Lisa got out of the car and, seeing Genevieve, nervously hid behind Raymond.
"Mom," Raymond called out, looking at Lisa. "Call her mom."
Lisa's ears turned red, and she didn't dare to look up.
"I see," Genevieve glanced at Lisa. "I wondered who had the ability to make my son fall out with his grandfather."
Raymond took a deep breath, signaling his mom to be gentle and not scare his wife away.
"Turns out she's so pretty," Genevieve said appreciatively, walking over and holding Lisa's face, looking her over. "Young people are indeed good-looking, such smooth skin. If I were Raymond, I would also fall out with his grandfather."
Lisa tightly held Raymond's arm, not knowing how to handle this situation. Genevieve's gaze felt a bit ambiguous.
Genevieve held Lisa's face for a long time, liking her very much. "If I were a few years younger... what a pity."
"Mom, I will call my dad," Raymond said through gritted teeth, protecting Lisa behind him.
Genevieve rolled her eyes. "Your dad will be home the day after tomorrow. Bring your wife home for a meal."
Then she warned Raymond, "Treat her well, or don't blame me for taking her away."
With that, Genevieve walked away in high heels, ordering Samuel around like a little dog. "Samuel, support me."
"My mom dated a girl before marrying my dad," Raymond said awkwardly, coughing. "So my parents have a great relationship because my dad has to guard against both men and women, always busy being jealous, with no time to argue or do anything else."
Lisa looked at Raymond in shock. "Your mom liked girls?"
This was big news.
"Yes," Raymond reluctantly admitted, but his mom never avoided the topic. Since Raymond was old enough to understand, she had been telling him about her past love stories, like how her ex-girlfriend was now an award-winning actress, her ex-ex-girlfriend was a writer, and so on.
"Your parents never argue?" Lisa asked as she took Raymond back to his hospital room.
Raymond nodded. "Even my grandpa doesn't dare to argue with my mom because he initially opposed my mom marrying into my family, causing a lot of trouble. According to the housekeeper, the first time my dad brought my mom home, my grandpa tried to intimidate her by having the retired military dog bark at her."
"Guess what?" Raymond looked at Lisa.
Lisa shook her head, confused.
"My mom took a kitchen knife and chopped chicken in front of the dog, cursing as she did, scaring the dog."
Lisa couldn't help but laugh.
"Then my mom pointed at the dog in front of my grandpa and said, 'This is your first time barking at me.'"
"A few days later, my mom visited again, and the dog barked, but its aura was noticeably weaker," Raymond also wanted to laugh.
"The second time, my mom told the dog in front of my grandpa, 'This is the second time. The third time, I'll chop you up.
Later, my mom really intended to chop the dog, scaring my grandpa. Since then, he never dared to provoke my mom again.
After that, my mom fed the dog its favorite meat bones, and they formed friendship."
Raymond recounted his mom's heroic past to Lisa.
Lisa laughed so hard her stomach hurt. "Your mom is really amazing."
"Don't learn from her; I'm not as brave as my dad," Raymond said, hugging her. "Be gentle with me."
Lisa raised an eyebrow. "Do I look like a gentle person? It's not too late to regret now."
Raymond looked helpless. "Alright, we've got the certificate, no returns."
At the elementary school gate.
Casey, Justin, and Joe were walking home when they saw Jordan.
Casey was surprised; Jordan had never picked him up before.
"Casey, are you going with your dad?" Justin asked.
Casey hesitated for a moment but nodded.
Because it was the first time Jordan had come to pick him up.
"Casey," Jordan said nervously, in a low voice. "Dad... came to apologize to you."
This time, he genuinely wanted to apologize to Casey.
