Chapter 671 White Lily

On West Avenue, a dump truck buried a private car in a traffic accident, and rescue workers were still attempting to save people.

Tom jumped out of his car and rushed over frantically, ignoring the crowd's attempted to stop him. He then began to dig through the rubble covering the buried vehicle.

"Connor, Connor, don't die, hang in there. You haven't paid me my salary yet!" Tom desperately dug through the rubble, his voice trembling.

The rescue workers nearby felt sorry for Tom seeing him like that. "My condolences."

"No, he won't be in trouble." Tom's eyes turned red, something that had never happened before.

He kept digging through the rubble, his nails breaking and leaving red marks of blood on the stones.

"Calm down. Calm down. No matter how deep your feelings are, your health is more important," a rescue worker said, seeing Tom losing control and quickly pulling him away.

Tom struggled and cried out, "He can't die. He still owes me my salary!"

The rescue workers were stunned for a moment and looked at each other. "Owes you salary?"

"We've got him! Found him! He's still alive!" Over there, the rescue workers shouted excitedly, pulling a survivor out of the car.

Tom rushed over excitedly, fell to the ground and started to cry. "Connor, you can't die."

Seeing Tom crying so bitterly, a rescue worker asked quietly, "Is this puppy yours?"

Tom was also stunned, looking at the 'survivor' the rescue workers had pulled out. "What dog?"

"A small car suddenly changed lanes. The dump truck couldn't stop and overturned, burying the car parked on the side of the road and hitting several other private cars. The seriously injured have already been sent to the hospital. Do you want to go to the hospital and check?" the rescue worker asked suspiciously. "We just contacted the owner of the buried car. He wasn't in the car. Only his dog was, and we're trying to rescue it."

Tom stood up straight. Had he cried for the wrong person?

Turning around, he saw Connor with blood on his forehead, holding his arm, and standing not far away with his broken phone, looking at him like he was an idiot.

Tom looked at Connor, and their eyes met, both feeling a bit awkward.

Just then, someone nearby set off fireworks. Tom scratched his head awkwardly. "It's New Year. Time to settle the salary."

Connor took off his broken glasses, feeling embarrassed by Tom, and walked straight to his car.

"Sir, we've taken care of everything," Connor's insurance agent said, handing over the paperwork.

Connor nodded, and after finishing up, he got into Tom's car without hesitation, frowning as he spoke, "What are you standing there for? Let's go. Are you waiting here to ask the puppy for your salary?"

Tom grumbled as he got into the car. "You weren't home. You didn't even put your slippers away. What were you running for?"

Connor didn't respond.

Tom continued to grumble, finally seizing the opportunity. "Were you in a hurry to go on a date?"

Connor still didn't respond.

Deborah had called him, crying that Owen was dead. He was probably too excited, receiving such good news, and rushed back to confirm it.

Unexpectedly, Deborah had set a trap for him.

Sure enough, he and Deborah knew each other well.

It was such a clumsy lie, yet it fooled the smart Connor.

"Go to Lakeview Apartments," Connor said in a deep voice.

He needed to teach Deborah a lesson.

"What are we going there for?" Tom asked.

"Don't ask, just drive." Connor frowned.

Tom agreed. "Holiday overtime, triple pay."

Connor rubbed his forehead. How could someone like this ever date or find a partner?Ethan had just left, and Jasmine called Ben to send a truckload of white lilies to Deborah.

"Hello?" Connor answered the phone.

"My phone broke," Connor explained, a bit anxious. "Are you okay? Did Deborah come to you?"

Deborah wouldn't send him away for no reason; she must be targeting Jasmine.

"I'm fine. But I'm not sure about her," Jasmine said coldly.

Glancing at the time, Jasmine spoke again, "What about you?"

"I'm fine." Connor sighed in relief, clearly indicating that Ethan had sneaked out to see Jasmine again.

That fool, with his injuries, running out again and again, clearly didn't care about his life or pain.

"Recently, Deborah and Owen have been acting hastily. Protect yourself; you are Ethan's wife." Connor deliberately provoked Jasmine to keep her on guard.

"It can't always be them making moves; it's my turn now," Jasmine said, eating a quesadilla and watching the fireworks outside. "I sent them each a gift."

At Deborah's place, Connor and Tom were shocked to see white lilies filling the hallway as they exited the elevator.

"Who died here?" Tom asked in surprise.

Connor didn't say anything, squeezing through the flowers to knock on Deborah's door.

"Enough already! I said I didn't order these flowers, not me!" Deborah opened the door in frustration.

"Did someone die in your family?" Tom asked curiously. "You must be rich, squeezing so many white lilies into the hallway."

Deborah trembled with anger, gritting her teeth as she looked at Connor. "What do you want?"

Connor raised his hand to push open the door, warning Deborah. "Aren't you afraid of retribution?"

Deborah looked confused. "What are you talking about?"

Connor deliberately revealed the truth in front of Tom. "You deliberately tricked me into leaving and caused an accident. And had a car intentionally hit the dump truck, trying to kill me?"

Tom got angry upon hearing this. "You are one vicious woman!"

Deborah frowned. "Connor, you need evidence to back up your words. Without evidence, it's slander and defamation."

Tom's face darkened, and he kicked open the door Deborah was trying to close, moving the flowers into her house.

"What are you doing? Are you crazy?" Deborah felt unlucky.

"Wish you a swift journey to the afterlife," Tom said coldly, continuing to move the flowers.

"If you keep this up, I'll call security," Deborah shouted, preparing to call her bodyguards.

Connor, imitating Tom's rogue behavior, threw her phone into the fish tank before she could.

Deborah trembled with anger. "Connor."

Connor had always been a gentleman, but now he was acting so shamelessly.

Tom, while moving the flowers into the living room, said, "You should be glad I don't hit women, or you'd be using theis tomorrow."

After moving everything, Tom clapped his hands. "Hope this time next year is your death anniversary. You wicked woman."

Connor raised an eyebrow, looking at the hardworking Tom. "Let's go, triple pay today."

As soon as Connor left, Deborah received a call.

"Mr. Morris, something's wrong. Our Stellar Innovations Inc. project has a problem. The project leader and his team suddenly left and joined the Raymond Group."

Deborah's face instantly darkened. "The project is about to launch, and now you're telling me the leader and his team have left!"

This meant that the biggest project she had secured for the Hawthorne Group this year was going to fail.

Her chances of competing with Avery had just decreased!

"Jasmine!" Deborah screamed, smashing the flowers in a frenzy.

That crazy woman!

"Do you think I'll be scared by such a boring trick? If you find out tomorrow that Nolan is marrying me and I'm becoming your sister-in-law, let's see if you can still laugh!" Deborah gritted her teeth.

In the Hawthorne family, Owen sat on the sofa, receiving a New Year's gift from Jasmine.

"Owen, this is a gift from Jasmine. And she said you should open it yourself," Larry said, carrying a box into the room.

Owen sneered. Jasmine sent it?

What could she have sent?
