Chapter 699 Getting Closer to the Truth
"Jasmine!" Henry arrived, looking somewhat flustered.
Jasmine was already so panicked that her whole body was stiff. She was desperately trying to stay awake and rational.
"Justin."
Henry stepped forward, wanting to hug Jasmine. But ultimately he didn't reach out. He had hurt Jasmine too much.
"I'm sorry." Henry knew that Justin's disappearance was related to the Patrick family's shares. "Someone contacted me, probably the kidnapper. They want me to transfer the shares to Ian unconditionally."
Jasmine looked up at Henry, her eyes reddened.
Was it Ian?
"I went to find Ian, but I couldn't."
The kidnapper gave Henry a day to consider. If he couldn't do it, they would cut off one of Justin's hands.
Henry didn't dare to tell Jasmine this.
"Don't worry. Justin will be fine." Henry tried to reassure Jasmine. He could give all the shares to Ian as long as Ian returned Justin safely.
"The police are already involved in the investigation. We need to stay rational now," Richard said urgently before leaving. "I'll go find Justin. Take care of yourself."
Jasmine leaned against the wall, biting her finger hard.
It will be okay. Justin will be alright.
Justin was kidnapped and taken to the undeveloped areas of the zone.
Half of the area was demolished, leaving ruins and desolation everywhere. There was no water or electricity, and the signal was weak, making it hard to find anyone here.
Justin's hands were tied, and he was thrown into a corner. "I need to pee."
The kidnapper looked at Justin coldly and remained silent.
Justin started crying. "I need to pee."
"Pee in your pants!" The kidnapper was getting impatient.
"Mom said I'm a big boy now and can't pee in my pants," Justin continued to shout.
The kidnapper got annoyed and stopped the car as they entered the demolition zone. "Hurry up and pee."
Justin got out of the car with the kidnapper, threw the handkerchief from his pants on the ground, and peed on it.
This way, he could retain his scent as much as possible. The police, following the direction where he had thrown his watch, could use search dogs to track his scent.
"They said he's very smart," the kidnapper in the passenger seat said in a deep voice.
The kidnapper watching Justin sneered. "How smart can he be?"
Justin finished peeing and got back in the car.
The kidnapper drove further in.
Justin memorized the route.
Even though it was all ruins, he could remember the way back.
"I wanna pee again," Justin said, aggrieved.
The kidnapper, annoyed, slapped Justin. "Shut up, you little brat. Such a nuisance."
"A scared kid will want to pee a lot. Didn't you ever get scared and pee your pants as a kid?" The passenger teased.
The kidnapper sneered. "I don't have time to let him pee everywhere."
Justin stood up, crying. "I peed my pants."
Justin forcefully took off his pants. "Dirty."
The kidnapper, impatient, took off Justin's pants and threw them in the corner.
They didn't dare to throw Justin's clothes around, fearing they would be discovered. So they naturally kept them in the car.
The kidnapper reached the destination, took Justin out, and the driver drove away.
As they left, the driver changed the license plate, tore off the car's advertisement stickers, and cleaned the car.
The car looked like a new one as it left.
Even if the police checked the surveillance, they wouldn't find anything.
On the way back, the police had set up a blockade, checking every car.
The police brought search dogs to find Justin.
The driver pretended to be calm, got out, and let the police search.
As soon as the search dog got in the car, it ran to the back and bit the pants Justin had deliberately peed on.
The police immediately became alert. The driver, realizing this, tried to run but was pinned to the ground by the police. "Don't make a scene. Take him away first!"
They used this person to find out Justin's exact location.
Meanwhile, Jasmine and Henry tried to stall for time, negotiating with Ian.
When they saw Ian, his face was pale, and he was breathing heavily and looking anxious.
Henry stepped forward and punched Ian. "Where's Justin!"
Ian fell to the ground, looking at Henry. "I don't know. I didn't take him. I'm also looking for him. I've already sent people to search!"
He was also anxious. He never wanted to use the child.
But the situation had spiraled far beyond his control.
"You're lying!" Henry wanted to hit him again.
But Ian's frail body couldn't take the beating.
"Enough!" Jasmine pushed Henry away and looked at Ian. "Who took my son?"
Jasmine's voice was hoarse and low.
She clenched her fists, determined not to let anyone who hurt her family go.
Ian refused to say.
"Ian! If anything happens to my son, I'll make sure you all pay with your lives." Jasmine grabbed Ian by the collar, her eyes red as she spoke again, "Don't underestimate a mother."
Ian took a deep breath. "It was a man, but I know nothing about him. He only contacts us by phone, and today I couldn't reach him."
Apparently, Ian didn't know who was that guy either.
The other party was too cautious.
"He saved my life when I was about to die of illness in Muskow, and the Patrick family wouldn't help," Ian said hoarsely. "He has connections with many illegitimate children from wealthy families like me and Deborah. He uses us to achieve his goals."
The person behind this had cast a wide net, with many people inside.
They were abandoned by wealthy families but had legal inheritance rights.
He helped them rise to power and then gained benefits from them.
That person must have been planning for many years.
"I'll find a way to find Justin," Ian said softly.
"If anything happens to Justin, I won't let you go," Henry grabbed Lan and spoke. "I'll give you the shares. You need to make sure the person behind you ensures Justin's safety, or else."
Ian looked at Henry and laughed. "You really care about Justin."
Henry frowned and pushed Ian away.
"Too bad Justin isn't your son, and Jasmine won't choose you either." Ian stood up and walked towards the conference room. "The share transfer can be faked for now. I've changed my mind. I don't want to compete with you using these means, Henry."
Ian was originally a proud person. He always believed he could win against Henry with his abilities.
But now, everything was spiraling out of his control.
"I'll find a way to help you rescue Justin." Ian seemed to promise, taking out his phone to call that man again.
That guy still didn't answer.
Maybe he was suspicious of Ian.
"If he doesn't answer, then hold a press conference. I'll publicly promise to give you all the shares," Henry said in a low voice.
Since that guy wouldn't answer, Henry would announce it to everyone.
Make a big deal out of it. Let that guy know he had given the shares to Ian, and that Ian was valuable.
"I'll trust you this once." Henry warned Ian. "You better help me rescue Justin."
