Chapter 834 Who is the Person Behind Cordelia?

"Don't overthink it, your mother is not that kind of person," Ethan reassured again.

Jasmine nodded.

Silverlight City.

Kavi was taken into custody by the police, and things temporarily calmed down.

Jasmine and Ethan rushed back the next day, worried that something might happen to Justin and Indigo.

Fortunately, Evelina had been there all along, and the children were well protected.

"Mom!" Justin and Joe rushed towards Jasmine. "A bad woman said she wanted to take care of Indigo instead of Magnolia, but she actually wanted to secretly take Indigo away. We caught her." Magnolia Belle is a nanny.

Jasmine gasped.

"Don't scare your mom," Evelina said with a smile, holding Ellis.

"Evelina," Jasmine called out.

"Your mom sensed something was wrong before she left and called me. I arrived, and she left with peace of mind. The day after she left, Magnolia, who was taking care of the children, took a leave of absence. I suspected something was wrong, so I deliberately let them in and had already called the police. The nanny who tried to take Indigo has been arrested, and the police will investigate," Evelina reassured Jasmine.

Jasmine breathed a sigh of relief. "Thank you, Evelina."

"No need to thank me," Evelina said with a smile, handing Ellis to Jasmine. "Your two kids are very smart. Not just bad people, even flies and mosquitoes can't get close to Indigo."

Jasmine smiled. "How about Indigo."

"That tough little one..." Evelina pointed helplessly at Indigo, who was running around in a walker.

No wonder she's Betty's daughter. She didn't like to be held, insisted on doing everything herself, and started running around as soon as she could babble. No one could control her, and she struggled when strangers tried to hold her.

"The nanny tried to take Indigo, but she puffed out her little chest and wouldn't let her," Evelina said with a smile as she walked into the living room. "Indigo."

Indigo clapped her hands happily in the walker, full of energy all day long.

Meanwhile, Casey, with a rope tied to his wrist, sat on the floor, watching Indigo, afraid she might fall.

Seeing Jasmine enter, Casey's eyes instantly turned red, and he started crying. "Aunt, Joe bullied me. He tied Indigo to my hand. I wanted to play with Justin, but he disagreed."

Jasmine looked at Joe helplessly. "Why do you always bully Casey?"

Joe looked at Casey disdainfully. "All he does is cry and tattle. It's perfect for him to play with Indigo."

"Joe, don't bully Casey. He's younger than you, and you need to take care of him," Jasmine said earnestly. Joe and Casey just didn't get along. What would happen when they grew up?

Justin went over to comfort Casey, patting his head. "Let's play with Indigo together."

Casey threw himself into Justin's arms, giving Joe a challenging look and snorting. "I want to play with Justin. Joe is a bad guy!"

Joe squinted his eyes, his roguish demeanor emerging, looking threatening.

Casey started crying again. "Aunt, Justin will protect me, but Joe will hit me."

"Aunt, when you weren't home, Joe hit me in the bathroom," He tattled skillfully.

Jasmine felt her head buzzing. Having so many kids was a bit overwhelming.

Sitting on the couch, she kissed Ellie. Daughters were indeed better. Three boys were too rowdy. What would happen when they grew up? They'd be uncontrollable.

Joe liked to bully Casey, Casey liked to cling to Justin, and Justin, who grew up in an insecure environment, was too sensible and a considerate boy, protecting his younger siblings, making her heart-wrenching.

As for Indigo, there was no need to worry about her. Give her a walker, and she'd play happily on her own.

"When these kids grow up, your mom and I will be old," Evelina said, looking at the room full of children with a smile.

She really wanted to see what these kids would be like when they grew up.

"Evelina, you and my mom will always be young," Jasmine said with a smile.

"You really know how to flatter me," Evelina sighed. "Your mom and I have had a tough life, especially your mom, raising so many kids and managing the Cunningham Group all by herself."

Jasmine nodded sympathetically. "Mom has had a tough time."

"In the early years, when Cordelia took over the Cunningham Group, she faced a lot of resistance. Fortunately, she is capable and helped the company overcome many difficulties. But Willian was disappointing, he didn't deserve your mom," Evelina said angrily.

"Evelina, it must have been really tough for my mom to make a name for herself in the Muskow market all these years. I heard that when she first came to Silverlight City, she wasn't taken seriously because she was a woman. The Westing project couldn't be secured in the early years, so the Muskow market must have been even harder," Jasmine asked, probing subconsciously.

She wasn't doubting Cordelia, but she did feel there were some questionable points.

"Alex always said someone was protecting your mom from behind, and he was very adamant about it. I told him he was underestimating Cordelia. All these years, no one has come forward to protect your mom, and now he's finally shut up," Evelina said angrily. "In the early years, when your mom just took over the company, she faced a big challenge. The Muskow market was chaotic, and everyone thought your mom, being a woman, wouldn't be able to handle it. But not long after, the troublemakers voluntarily backed off, and since then, no one dared to mess with her."

Jasmine was stunned for a moment and asked softly, "I haven't heard of the Cunningham family having any other background."

"I asked your mom too. She said it might have been good luck, she really didn't know who was helping her from behind. Later, I suspected it was Arnold, but your mom said Arnold was still in his hometown at that time," Evelina said with a helpless smile.

"But indeed, after Arnold took over the Sanders Group, he was a business competitor on the surface but secretly supported your mom a lot, much better than Willian," She said disdainfully.

Jasmine nodded but still felt something was off.

Who was helping the Cunningham Group during the time after Cordelia taking over the Cunningham Group and before Arnold taking over the Sanders Group?

Could it be that Bill, during his lifetime, was also involved in the plan to use Mark to disrupt the market in Silverlight City, thereby breaking the Douglas Group's monopoly and allowing the Cunningham Group to enter Silverlight City?

But Bill had been dead for many years.

The timeline seemed to have some conflicts.

"Jasmine, was it dangerous when you went to Boston this time?" Evelina asked worriedly.

Jasmine came back to her senses and shook her head. "No, it's all over. Kavi has been arrested, and it's temporarily safe. Steven will clean up the Hughes family as soon as possible. By the time Kavi gets out, everything will be completely different."

Evelina nodded. "That's good,. In the future, the Cunningham family will only get better and better."

Yes, the Cunningham family could very well surpass the major local enterprises in Silverlight City.

With Nolan and Edward's abilities and the current opportunities, everything would have the best outcome.

But still, there was an inexplicable sense of unease.

The Cunningham Group.

Hestia walked into the office with some documents and saw a cup of coffee on the desk.

"What's this?" Hestia asked.

"Marlon brought it for you. We got to enjoy it too," a colleague joked.

Marlon Rojas, a newly promoted supervisor in the legal department and Hestia's schoolmate from a few years ahead, had graduated long ago. He had always had a good impression of Hestia, and everyone thought he liked her.

Hestia smiled awkwardly. "Thank you, Marlon."

"You're welcome. Do you have time for dinner tonight?" Marlon asked with a smile.

Hestia thought for a moment and decided to refuse since she wasn't interested in him. "Sorry, Marlon, my husband just got back home today because of some family issues, so I need to be with him tonight."

Marlon was stunned and a bit surprised. "Hestia, you're married?"

She nodded.

Primrose, sitting in her chair, sneered. "I remember your resume showed you were single. Are you lying to the company?"
